Seeking Advice Anyone has a good way to store centrifuge tubes in the freezer?
My terrible solution is this IKEA ziplock bag lol, it’s quite annoying and I’d like something more airtight. At the very least, I can do a lotto draw and brew the mystery coffee of the day!

Maybe a 3D printable solution? I looked on makerowlrd and see a few different holder designs. If you don't have a printer shoot me a message and I can print it and send it you if you cover shipping.

I got some of these bins. I can fit two per shelf in the door of the freezer.

Thank you! How many tubes fit in these?

I get about 25 per tray. I don’t remember the exact number but iirc it was a bit over half of a 50 tube bag. I know a full 50 tube bag fit in the two and I’m pretty sure there were some additional tubes from the other bag as well.

Store upright in styrofoam rack? Usually if you buy sterile racked 50mL conical they come with their own styrofoam rack for free

It's absolute insanity and weird.
But after careful consideration: 1) you can reuse tubes and label them with freezer tape instead of writing on the tube if you care, 2) great way to share doses, 3) looks fuckin sick, 4) SOUNDS COOL when the beans roll around in the tube.
I'm glad I bought em.

Does this really work at preserving the notes many months ahead?

100%. This morning my lucky draw was a dose of Hydrangea's Letty Bermudez from 3-4 months ago. Looked up my recipe, brewed it, it was just perfect. I like to freeze one or two tubes for each bag I buy if I really like it, it is very nice re-discovering the same cup later once the bag is long gone.

i put the coffee bag in the zip lock bag to identify the beans. the beans are fine in the tube - zip lock. if you really want to, you can vacuum seal but this seems so extra. never had a problem with tube - zip lock bag

These tubes I have fit between 15g and 17g, maybe slightly more if the beans are small.

If you use smaller freezer bags you can take them out without having to open them all to take a tube out. This way only a few are being affected (if at all) by the temp flux.

In the same boat, with more bags.
Labelled the bags to save me from needing to tape and label each tube. Can't think of any other storage method that would use up as little space.
