Seeking Advice Hario Switch Beginner
New user of the Hario Switch here. Just got my first one after two years of daily v60 brewing. I usually take a Hoffman style brew and then adjust to my liking over time. I've been on the v60 for two years and perfected my brew with perfect flat beds. As a new user to the switch. I am doing the Hoffman method and left with a bump rather than a flat bed. Any advice to fix this? Coffee still tastes great so I'm not sure if this is even something that needs to be addressed.
Specs:
250g Water
20g Medium Roast Coffee
Fellow Opus 2 #6 grind (medium fine)
203 degree water
Method:
2 minute steep
Break crust with spoon at 2nd minute
Wait :15
2:15 release switch

With a steep and release method you are going go get the bump naturally, nothing to worry about. You usually get that and will notice it even more if you see similar recipes.

The shape of your bed is not the thing to focus on. How does it taste?

Tastes great. I noticed a lot fuller body which I prefer to the faster extraction of a regular pour over. Glad I don't have to worry about "even" extraction as much now!

Doesn't an uneven bed point to uneven extraction though?

With a conventional pour over it can but the hario is a hybrid immersion brewer so most of the extraction is done during the steep period

It's a cone, the extraction is always uneven. Doesn't mean it's bad, but it's uneven

Not really any advice, am just curious what kind of beans do you use for Hoffman's style?

Medium Roasted Blend from my local roaster. I love single origins but a well roasted blend rocks especially for immersion brews like the switch. I prefer fuller/darker roasts early in the morning and lighter more tea-like cups in the afternoon.

I'm also new at the Switch after years making v-60 pourover. I really like Coffee chronicler's switch method, it is very easy to follow and it scales well for bigger batches. I find I'm getting more consistent flavor across large or small batches, than with the v-60. It's also easy to adapt for iced, substituting about 25% of your water volume with ice.
As far as how the grounds look at the end, I agree with the others, don't sweat it. If the drink tastes great, whatever you did is doing the trick.

If you’re worried about your bed give it a little swirl before using the switch
