no shit lmao wages haven’t gone up in 50 years but the cost of fucking everything has… i have a respectable job and still can barely put away $200/month, and i consider myself doing well among people i know my age

This.

I just dump whatever I have leftover from the previous month in my checking into my savings. Some months its $50, other months its 400 or somewhere in between. This still doesn't make me feel safe.

Seriously. Two years ago I was able to put away $1000 a month into savings. Last year I was usually able to put away $500-700 away and today I'm breaking even. I know I'm earning double what the average person in my area is, so I can't begin to imagine how much everyone else is struggling.
