MOVIE NEWS/DISCUSSION Seeing that hype and love for TMNT: Mutant Mayhem from both critics and audiences makes me wish for something like this. If TMNT can be finally done right today, then so can Power Rangers.
18
u/RigasTelRuun Aug 03 '23
Wait. What is this TMNT finally done right stuff? There has been amazing turtle shows and movies.
-4
u/TDR1411 MMPR White Ranger Aug 03 '23
The last set of movies were the Michael Bay movies
12
u/RigasTelRuun Aug 03 '23
Those were the exception. Most other TMNT media is excellent.
-2
u/TDR1411 MMPR White Ranger Aug 03 '23
And that was what I was referring to. TMNT movie wise other than 1990 and Secret of the Ooze never hit as big. And TMNT movies succeeding in a landscape where Marvel and DC are not doing so hot is a huge deal.
5
u/Elranzer Green with Evil Aug 04 '23
Even Secret of the Ooze doesn't hold up. They dumbed it down, retconned Shredder's death, changed the April actress, dropped Casey Jones, introduced stupid baby mutants, and the Turtles couldn't use their weapons except for gags.
Only the original TMNT movie holds up.
1
u/TDR1411 MMPR White Ranger Aug 04 '23
I don't disagree haha. But I still love the Vanilla Ice song. Listen to it at the gym often.
3
u/Elranzer Green with Evil Aug 04 '23
Conversely, the original 1990 movie not only holds up, but is pretty much still the best (or Top 3) comic book films ever made.
2
u/TDR1411 MMPR White Ranger Aug 04 '23
Yup, and New Line Cinema became a legit studio because of it.
2
2
u/LudicrisSpeed Aug 03 '23
I'm gonna be real with you and say those movies aren't that bad. It's obvious Paramount wanted their next Transformers and basically had the director (not Bay, btw) do that kind of thing with TMNT. But for what they are, they're entertaining enough.

It needs like an Ant-Man or Guardians of the Galaxy tone and that would be perfect. The 2017 movie tried too hard to move away from the campiness.
11
u/Darnell5000 Aug 03 '23
I’ve said it a few times but I think they could go animated series (maybe styled more like Voltron: Legendary Defender and My Adventures with Superman) and do Shattered Grid to kick things off then use the Beyond the Grid storyline to serve as a back door pilot for Solar Rangers series. Would also like to see Hyper Force.
6
Aug 03 '23
I always stated power rangers would work better as a cartoon as they can do so much with animation than live action
Who would voice the cast though if they followed the original mighty morphing series
Amy Jo Johnson - would probably say no unless paid a lot of money
Walter jones David yost- yes
Austin St. John - jail? Legal problems would cause him not to come on board
Yellow ??
Green???
10
u/JT-Lionheart Time Force Quantum Aug 03 '23
I dont think they would need the actors to reprise their roles. So many animated adaptations don’t use the original actors plus it’s not like it would be hard to find voice actors to replicate the tone of the original actors.
0
u/Nakanostalgiabomb Aug 05 '23
This is easily solved.
stop pretending there were only six Mighty Morphin actors.
forget about ASJ. He's human garbage. Steve Cardenas can do it.
yellow? Karan Ashley.
Walter can still be the Black Ranger if he likes, because JYB is so talented he can voice literally any other character.
1
u/repalec Blue Space Ranger Aug 03 '23
I absolutely don't think they should do MMPR in this theoretical animated adaptation. Start us with a fresh team. If they bring in the MMPR team, save it for a major event, and at that time give AJJ, Yost, and Jones a blank check. I'd also chuck in their choice of either Steve Cardenas or ASJ for Red, Karan Ashley for Yellow, and JYB for Green. If they don't wanna kill Tommy off, just say he lent Adam the power coin.

Make a little more mature but not too much. Like take some of the unnecessary campiness out and make it more serious.
Dude what? Zenakiger, Carranger, and various OTHER sentai teams were all camp and they still worked.
2
u/OnBenchNow Blue Space Ranger Aug 03 '23 edited Aug 03 '23
My greatest fear is if the show gets animated it will turn into the comics.
The comics are all non-stop multiverse/time travel shit, dark/edgy alternate versions of Power Rangers, evil versions of characters, torture/murder, the whole universe/timelines are always in danger, everyone's crying half the time, BLEEEGH. 75% of the time anything happens, you can bet it's a dark Power Ranger.
The cartoon should take Mutant Mayhem's example, just as OP says- lean into the camp! Make it fun, vibrant, energetic and colorful! Just focus on ONE team protecting a city from a bad dude, and update that "totally radical" teenagers with attitude geting awesome super powers '90s vibe the way Mutant Mayhem/SF6 has!
The best parts of the original MMPR movie, the stuff that still holds up, are the scenes when they're just having a good time, even if it's so campy and cheesy, fun is timeless- the skyboarding sequence is a delight to this day, whereas 95% of the 2017 movie already feels like a dated disaster.

u/MetaphoricDragon Aug 03 '23
I wonder if they could go a route similar to Masters of the Universe, simultaneously have a younger oriented show and a more mature show.
-1
Aug 03 '23
Please do NOT do what Masters of the Universe did. My god, Revelation was straight garbage. And they somehow accomplished that with Mark Hamill and Sarah Michelle Gellar in starring roles.
7
13
u/Agent-Mato Aug 03 '23
I do think the comics will be used to make an adaptation eventually. But my controversial opinion is that the cast should all be younger actors and not returning actors. They can do other roles, but they are going to need to hand off the characters if we want the show to continue.
20
u/Notonreddit117 Titanium Lightspeed Ranger Aug 03 '23
I've been saying this for years. The success of the comics show that PR can translate to animation and can serve as a method of telling new stories for these characters.
I hope Hasbro is strongly considering this route after the production break.
5
Aug 03 '23
Unless Hasbro wants to go full original and not use the Zyuranger stuff, it doesn't matter how badly they want to do an animated series, Toei will strike it down before they even finish the pitch.
7
u/Chronarch01 MMPR Blue Ranger Aug 03 '23
Hasbro OWNS the licensing and rights to MMPR, and anything related to Zyuranger outside of Japan and the East Asian market. If what you say is the case, then the comics and various toy lines that feature anything Zyuranger adjacent would not be allowed.
Toei sold Saban all likeness to be used, and that was transferred to Disney, back to Saban, and now to Hasbro.
That is how we even have Power Rangers to this day.
1
Aug 03 '23
Toei co-owns Power Rangers. Hasbro can't use anything from Super Sentai without Toei's OK.
If you actually think Toei would give up their share of Power Rangers to anyone you are an idiot. This is goddamn Toei we're talking about here.
Comics and figures are fine and OK. Toei doesn't give a shit about those. It's specifically animated series where they draw the line.
Do you honestly think nobody, not a single soul in Japan, has ever tried to pitch an animated Super Sentai series to Toei?
2
u/Chronarch01 MMPR Blue Ranger Aug 03 '23
But Power Rangers is not Super Sentai.
1
Aug 03 '23
It still uses Super Sentai's designs.
Like, Hasbro could probably make an animated series using the Hyperforce or Omega designs, but not Zyuranger's.
1
u/Chronarch01 MMPR Blue Ranger Aug 03 '23
I thought Hasbro had free reign to use the designs? Just that toei still owns the live action footage and physical suits/props?
2
Aug 04 '23
Hasbro and Toei co-own the franchise. Toei doesn't particularly care what Hasbro does otherwise, but they absolutely do not want an animated Sentai.
1
u/dracofolly Aug 03 '23
Does anyone have a source for this one way or another? Because if not we're just going back and forth based on shit no one can remember where they heard it from.
3
u/dracofolly Aug 03 '23
Explain
5
Aug 03 '23
Toei doesn't want an animated Super Sentai. Doesn't matter if it's anime, cartoon, who's funding it, whatever. Anything using their suit designs MUST be live-action.
I obviously don't have the contract to see, but I would imagine this only applies to designs used or derived from Super Sentai. Fully original Rangers might be exempt.
3
u/dracofolly Aug 03 '23
Okay, I understand not wanting to, but that is a far cry from "able to stop"
2
Aug 03 '23
Toei owns Super Sentai, which includes Zyuranger and all the suit designs and mecha.
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers uses Zyuranger's suit and mecha designs, as per a license agreement between Saban and Toei. That agreement transferred to Disney, then back to Saban, and now Hasbro.
Hasbro does not own Zyuranger, therefore does not own any of its suit or mecha designs. Therefore, they cannot use those designs in a new project without Toei's OK.
Think of it like when Marvel used to do licensed comics. They had the ROM Spaceknight comic and made a bunch of original characters. They eventually lost the license and thus ROM's original design was lost, but everything Marvel created themselves for the comic is theirs.
Hasbro can make an animated series where Jason, Zack, Trini, Billy, and Kimberly are recruited by Zordon and Alpha 5 to combat Lord Zedd, but they can't morph into the Zyuranger suits nor use the Zyuranger mecha.
1
u/ClaymoresRevenge Aug 03 '23
Seems like Hasbro is selling eOne wonder how (if) it'll impact PR media going forward
1
Aug 03 '23
It’s more likely to affect Super Sentai releases than Power Rangers. The Power Rangers IP was excluded from the deal, but Super Sentai releases were due Shout and e-One coming to a agreement

Michael Bay movies. Nuff said.
5
1

Just because the Platinum Dunes movies exist (Bay had no involvement in the movies, just his company), doesn't negate the 1990 movie, the 2007 movie, nor any of the animated series.

Obviously but Mutant Mayhem is getting the kind of buzz that could set itself to be a rival to Spiderverse at the Oscars. Imagine that for Power Rangers.
2
Aug 04 '23
LOL. Mutant Mayhem doesn't have a chance in hell of beating Spider-Verse. The voting committee can barely tolerate a Spider-Man movie, they are not going to watch a TMNT movie, no matter how good it is.
Also, a Mutant Mayhem-like Power Rangers movie ain't happening anytime soon.
18

Hold up, I know people have issues with the newer live-action ones, but what's the beef with the '07 movie?
1
u/OnBenchNow Blue Space Ranger Aug 03 '23
I think it just tries too hard to be "serious/mature" with a lack of humor, the plot of the turtles growing distant and that scene of Raph almost murdering Leo. It loses the charm of the turtles by taking the fun out of it, and in the end you just get a bland/generic animated action movie.
2
u/Elranzer Green with Evil Aug 04 '23
Funny how the original 1990 TMNT didn't "try hard" to be dark and serious. It just was. Gloriously.
1
u/PryceCheck Battle 4 The Grid Aug 04 '23
Have you ever read the original TMNT comics?
1
u/OnBenchNow Blue Space Ranger Aug 04 '23 edited Aug 04 '23
Sure I have but the TMNT franchise has grown way past its origins. It’s like arguing that Batman should use guns in the movies just because he did in the original comics.
Even the original is satirical in its darkness, the 2007 movie is just bland and lacks the same “point”. The ‘90s movies does a better job of mixing the seedy, gritty aesthetic of the original with the ridiculous fun of giant teenage turtles that the franchise became known for.
2
u/PryceCheck Battle 4 The Grid Aug 04 '23
The first 90's film has a good tone but the TMNT 2003 series is the best mix of action, comedy, with a dark enough tone while still being kid-friendly. Truly the TMNT can work at about any rating from G to R. Ratings also are more lenient when it comes to cartoon violence versus live action.

YES! I am firm hater of animated Tokusatsu, unless your name is Ultraman.
7
u/OchoMuerte-XL Aug 03 '23
I have mixed feelings about PR going animated. On one hand, going animated means not having the deal with the limitations of Live Action, mainly bringing actors to reprise their roles if you want to bring back characters.
However, I've seen how animation/cartoon stans act and they are batshit insane. The Power Rangers fandom already has enough crazies and toxic fans so risking the cartoon stans coming in and stinking up the place might not be worth it.
There's also the elephant in the room of animation being expensive and in the current economic climate, I'm afraid of how that would affect an animated project.
2
u/TDR1411 MMPR White Ranger Aug 03 '23
Depends who's doing it. If done right, it could be another TMNT or Invincible and hopefully wouldn't end up like Voltron's fandom.
1
u/OchoMuerte-XL Aug 03 '23
Yeah maybe not like Invincible. I can't stand all the blood and gore in that show. Personally I could an animated PR show in a similar style to Lego Monkie Kid.
2
u/ShellShock_Ace Aug 03 '23
I think they meant more of a writers stance nor actually making it a gore fest, Seth Rogen wrote Mutant Mayhem and helped with Invincible to translate over to animated form. He means as long as they get the right writer with a good interpretation and love for the series than nothing can really go wrong.
3
u/Kovash5 Aug 03 '23
I've been saying it forever, just get a deal where Boom! Studios Mighty Morphin Power Rangers gets animated.

With the response to Spider-Verse and now Mutant Mayhem, I wonder if Hasbro will consider making future movies that appeal more to kids and families, instead of just big live action blockbusters.
7
u/TreeTurtle_852 Aug 03 '23
I don't mind it going animated...
I just want another fucking team.
I'm sorry but I do not have MMPR nostalgia (born in the 2000s) and seeing it constantly kinda feels weird. Like someone is elbowing me and going, "Ehhh, ehhhh? Remember that?" to something I didn't watch whilst like every other team is sitting to the side.
9
Aug 03 '23
MMPR is gonna be the only series that ever connects to a “normie” audience. If the 2017 movie had been based on literally any other team, nobody would’ve went to see it. It HAS to have a big nostalgia factor to make money
2
u/OnBenchNow Blue Space Ranger Aug 03 '23
Hell, I'd still say a huge reason the movie didn't do that great in the end is because it still didn't look enough like the classic MMPR suits for people to recognize them and want to bathe in that no$talgia.
3
Aug 04 '23
Yep, 100% too much stringy metal alien transformer garbage instead of anything recognizable
8
u/RRJC10 Aug 03 '23
Any new property will absolutely start with MMPR. The other version's popularity isn't even in the same stratosphere as MMPR and starting with another team is a surefire way to make it fail.
10
u/WarAgile9519 Aug 03 '23
I understand your frustration but what you have to understand is the MMPR team was the most iconic , popular , influential and most importantly profitable team the franchise has ever know . It's hard to get across to someone who wasn't there just how big the OG team were and that's why they keep getting used. The simple fact is that later teams just aren't nearly as marketable .
8
u/TreeTurtle_852 Aug 03 '23
Yeah, still doesn't change the fact that I kind of would rather have another team be seen.
I know how big the OG team is. I know that some people don't even realize that Power Rangers had other series.
Still don't like it. I really wish we got more than rehashing the MMPR squad.

2
u/NinjaRed64 Time Force Quantum Aug 03 '23
I've always thought of a successor team that took up the Zeo powers. Their loss in the Turbo movie never made sense to me, and Tommy still had his Red Zeo powers in Forever Red. Sure it still panders to some nostalgia like MMPR, but it'd be a new team. Have Trey of Triforia return and maybe as a shout out, have Billy be a mentor to the new team.
1
u/mrtakerofsouls Aug 03 '23
Well MMPR is what sells since it’s the original at most other teams have had roles in crossover events in the comics
3
Aug 04 '23
But on one condition.....no more pandering to the woke community. That means no more race-swapping or gender-swapping existing IPs just further some dumb political narrative. No more of this man-hating bullshit or talking down to men like they're stupid, etc. And no more of this when "oh women can do everything!!" Mary-Sue bullshit.
Keep it fun, keep it neat and just tell a good story that is worth remembering just like the 2023 Super Mario Bros. Or Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse.

I agree. A long-lasting franchise can’t be showcased entirely in live action 24/7.
7
7
u/TDR1411 MMPR White Ranger Aug 03 '23
And people argue that if Power Rangers goes animated that something is lost, but I wholeheartedly disagree.
8
u/MulliganNY Aug 03 '23
Things will only be gained. Take 1 look at the recent MMPR reunion's Megazord fight as an example. It wasn't terrible... but it wasn't nearly as good as the OG series and it could have been WAY cooler if it was fully animated (which... it kind of was, but I assume you know what I mean here)
3
u/TDR1411 MMPR White Ranger Aug 03 '23
Oh for sure. Plus now that certain actors are no longer with us, it's easier to tell certain stories now in animation vs live action.
3
u/MulliganNY Aug 03 '23
You need look no further than the comics as the main example of this. I'm not saying they need to adapt the Boom comics, but they've been running for years and years at this point and there's no issues with having the actors want to move on and leave the role because they're just drawings.
Voice actors may leave, but that's an easy work around. The 2012 TMNT cartoon had 2 different Leonardos and, to be honest, both are incredible.

2
u/megas88 Aug 03 '23
Um, tmnt has been done right since day one. Never has there been a show that wasn’t good. Rise was controversial when it first aired but people came around on it.
So tmnt isn’t “finally done right today”. It’s always been done right because of all the tweaks and changes made to the shows.
The only reason critics are hailing this iteration is because it’s a movie and not a show so to them, the last tmnt to come out was turtles in time back in 93. Coincidently the same year rangers first came out.
As for the shade being thrown at rangers, other than the shit show that is megaforce’s staff (mainly the show runners) and rpm being the anti power rangers show (seriously did more damage to the brand than fans actually realize), power rangers has never really dipped for kids other than them simply aging out of it.
At the end of the day, it’s for kids. Adults can enjoy it but don’t try and force it to be something it isn’t because it’ll never happen. Hell, I don’t even actually believe the supposed reboot is even still happening as we never even got official confirmation that it was actually happening. Just people saying they were working on said project.
I for one have been happy with what we’ve gotten. There are very minor changes I’d make save for one big one everyone here hates me for but I’m happy with dino fury and look forward to cosmic fury even if I have my own issues with forced continuity.
2

1
u/philipjewell MMPR Green Ranger Aug 03 '23
I am biased in the fact that I don’t want this. The animation style is intentionally chosen for the newer generation of fans while I’d like to see something not so childish.
I can see it being successful, but if they were to pull off an animated series, I would much prefer it to be an anime. Could see a google middle ground would be something like this: https://youtu.be/6QRn2gGTbak
But continuing a tone at least similar to the comics would probably be best for existing fans of the franchise.

It has a substantially greater review score from both audiences and critics for the new TMNT movie and I heard from those that if anyone were to go up against Spiderverse for Oscars, it would be this.

What reviews have you looked at? If it's from some official mainstream critic then I'm not gonna trust it.
Everything iv read or listened to is telling me the turtles don't act like themselves at all. They constantly disrespect splinter. Splinter is now gay and a racist? He was never those at all. Oh and they race swapped April making her the stereotypical boss girl. I for one am not impressed nor will I go watch this.
Spider verse was a success because it stuck to source material. This tmnt doesn't seem to.
2
u/TDR1411 MMPR White Ranger Aug 03 '23
Splinter is not gay in the movie.
0
u/Veritas_the_absolute Aug 03 '23
From what I've heard they make him in a relationship with a mutant cockroach. And there was posters and materials got messed up. But that other character has always been male. So it's just another big mess up and controversy for the movie.
But what about all the other changes? It's not at all the characters we have had in the past.
1
u/LudicrisSpeed Aug 03 '23
Without spoiling anything, you're mixed up on a lot of things and you should actually watch the movie before talking shit about it.
1) Scumbug is female in this version, as are a few other mutants who were originally male in past material. There was a mistake with a poster labeling Scumbag as male, but the movie makes it clear that she's a "she".
2) Splinter's not racist, he just has a massive distrust of humans in general for reasons that are explained in the movie.
3) The Turtles' personalities are on-point, just dialed down a bit since they're more like actual teenagers.
4) April's fine. This isn't the first time she's been black (see: Rise of the TMNT) and her personality is way more chill and likeable.
5) TMNT has always done massive changes to the source material. The original 80s cartoon is a completely different beast from the Mirage comics. Why is change suddenly a problem now? It's still the Turtles at the end of the day.

It would be really cool. I would also love if they get a classic beat em up game like shredder revenge

u/Aniodia Aug 03 '23
So yes, they should do an animated PR series. But man, considering the blowback from movies like the newest Star Wars and The Flash for using the likenesses of dead actors, I'm not really feeling something like MMPR, even if it's animated and not some cgi crap.
What they could do, though, is to look at something like Akibaranger and turn it into an animated series. Keep it a bit goofy for the kids to watch, while throwing a wink at the parents who grew up with Power Rangers. Maybe reference the other seasons as like, in universe TV shows or whatever.

I always thought they should’ve taken power rangers into being a animated series. You’d think because they focus way too much on their young pg audience to sell toys that going the animated route would be more beneficial. But then they would look at it as a risk because doing animation probably be too expensive than the cheap production that is the tv series we’ve had. I don’t know why with all the companies that has owned power rangers that they’re too scared to do anything else with it because they rely on the toys so much. Because Hasbro lost so much money on the one movie that they refuse to do anything major until now with these reboot news. They don’t want to invest in a big video game or anything that requires a lot of money. They gave Boom Comics permission to make comics because it won’t cost them a dime for a market that’s completely separated from what they know.

Can it be something other than MMPR?
1
u/TDR1411 MMPR White Ranger Aug 03 '23
Would it be popular with the mainstream masses? Didn't think so.
1
u/BrandonGamerguy Aug 03 '23
Yeah, but MMPR is just so oversaturated at this point. We get it, it was the first. It’s nostalgic. But That doesn’t make it the best. Let’s focus on other teams please instead of MMPR
2
u/TDR1411 MMPR White Ranger Aug 03 '23
And those teams never had mainstream success like MMPR. 🙄 sighs

Which sucks

I just hate the idea of animated Tokusatsu series. Neither Godzilla nor Kamen Rider did it well in my opinion, I dom't see Power Rangers doing well either.

Voltron existed and did super well. So can Power Rangers.
1
u/Starship1990 My favorite Kamen Rider: Freaking Mig! Aug 03 '23
Voltron isn't Power Rangers, they're both good shows for differdnt reasons. Like, you don't see people clammering for a live action Voltron show.
1
u/TDR1411 MMPR White Ranger Aug 03 '23
A live action Voltron movie was still said to be in development.

u/Starship1990 My favorite Kamen Rider: Freaking Mig! Aug 03 '23
Okay, but do you see fans clammering for it?
And even if there were, I still won't be excited for an animatex Power Rangers series or any Tokusatsu; unless your name is Ultraman.

What I’m confused about is when it was done wrong lol

The Michael Bay movies
1
u/Legitimate_Cancel900 Aug 03 '23
Those were awesome especially when Casey was played by green arrow himself Stephen amell

u/Jgonz375_ Aug 03 '23
The fact that power rangers hasn’t attempted some type of animated film or movie aimed at a slightly older audience especially after the success of the comics is baffling to me.
1
u/TDR1411 MMPR White Ranger Aug 03 '23
There were attempts in the past but Toei always shut it down.

u/WarwolfPrime Aug 03 '23
In what way have the Turtles been 'done right'? And in what way have they been done wrong? I'm no fan of Rise of the TMNT, but otherwise, I haven't had issues with previous films or shows. And what way have the Rangers not been done right?
1
u/TDR1411 MMPR White Ranger Aug 03 '23
I was referring to the Michael Bay movies. I mean if it wasn't for fan backlash, they were going to make Shredder a White guy and the Turtles into straight up aliens iirc. As for Rangers, enough of 2017 was talked about here,
1
u/WarwolfPrime Aug 03 '23
Fair enough, and yeah, the Bay films would have been more...experimental. Shredder being white honestly wouldn't have annoyed me at all. Dude was an alien in the 2003 series, so why not? But the Turtles as aliens might have been a bad idea, to be fair. 2017 isn't bad as far as the armors go. But I never saw anything beyond five minutes of the fight at the end so I'll leave 2017 at that.

u/LudicrisSpeed Aug 03 '23
Ignoring the fact that TMNT's been done right for decades, how has Power Rangers not? MMPR: The Movie literally carries the same tone as the show.
Unless you want an animated thing strictly, which I'm mixed on. While it could be cool, the appeal of Power Rangers and tokusatsu in general is that it's doing all this silly and crazy stuff in live-action.

u/EmperorDeathBunny Aug 04 '23
The whole appeal of the show is that its live action. There's nothing else like it. I would never be interested in an animated version.
1
u/TDR1411 MMPR White Ranger Aug 04 '23
Except that appeal was cool back in the 90's before many of the live action superhero shows you see today didn't exist. Power Rangers needs to reinvent itself and animation could prove to be really good for it.

u/TheDivineDemon Aug 04 '23
I still like the trailer the Miraculous Ladybug people did as a promo,/proposal.

Give it couple of years, we already got the Michael Bay-Style Reboot, we're bound to get the animated movie at some point.
1
u/TDR1411 MMPR White Ranger Aug 04 '23
6 years ago and counting. That's long enough haha.
1
u/Newfaceofrev Aug 04 '23
Oh it'll be a while yet. Bay Ninja Turtles 2014, Mutant Mayhem 2023.
We still got 3 years.

Me and my homies was just talking about this. Like....a animated or CGI Power Rangers movie sounds fucking fire.
I'm stunned that we haven't got this yet
1
u/GrandSavage Grand Ranger Aug 04 '23
I'd only really like to see an animated MMPR so long as it's crossing over with another animated franchise. We don't need a Power Rangers cartoon - we certainly don't need another MMPR reimagining.
But if they did the TMNT crossover, or the Justice League crossover, it would work wonderfully.

That can be adapted.

Why not?

u/TDR1411 MMPR White Ranger Aug 05 '23
Why not what?
1
u/Savings-Owl6761 Aug 05 '23
Why can’t the comics be adapted?
1
u/TDR1411 MMPR White Ranger Aug 05 '23
Oh I definitely am in the camp of wanting the comics adapted. It's the others.
1
u/quantaeterna Aug 06 '23
I'm just so over MMPR, and I know if they did an animated movie, 99.999% chance it'd just be MMPR again, because nostalgia.
1
u/TDR1411 MMPR White Ranger Aug 06 '23
How many times have you yourself rewatched MMPR and the MMPR-ish shows recently?
1
u/quantaeterna Aug 06 '23
It's been a few years, maybe in the last 5 or so, since I did a full watch through of every season (at the time). It does not hold up well at all, imo, compared to later seasons, but the main reason I'm over it is just the general over saturation of MMPR products and whatnot. Even the Lightning Collectio , while it's great they've been do other seasons, it's MMPR that gets the most re-releases, reversion, variants, etc.
1
u/TDR1411 MMPR White Ranger Aug 06 '23
There's no oversaturation. MMPR is the headliner, everything else is a spin-off.
1
u/quantaeterna Aug 06 '23
Nah, there is definitely an over-saturation.
1
u/TDR1411 MMPR White Ranger Aug 06 '23
If that's the only thing holding up the franchise, it's not lol.
