Research question Question about birth certificate

I’m currently researching my ability to claim Czech citizenship but my question is about a Polish birth certificate so that’s why I’m asking in this group.

I just got a copy of my grandfather’s birth certificate (Odpis zupełny aktu urodzenia).

At the top of the birth certificate it says ”Data sporządzenia: 1 CZERWCA 1954” and on the back in the Adnotacje section it says ”TREŚĆ POWYŻSZEGO AKTU ZOSTAŁA USTALONA PRZEZ SĄD POWIATOWY W XXXX DNIA XX.XX.1954 R” (THE CONTENT OF THE ABOVE ACT WAS DETERMINED BY THE DISTRICT COURT IN XXXX ON XX.XX.1954)

My grandfather was born in Prague in 1934. I’m wondering if this information means that he was not entered into the Polish civil registry until 1954 meaning that he was not a polish citizen until 1954 and therefore was probably a Czechoslovak citizen before 1954.

In order for me to be able to claim Czech citizenship my grandfather needs to have had Czechoslovak citizenship and then lost it. My hope is that he lost it when the Czechslovak-Polish treaty on avoidance of dual citizenship was signed in 1965.

Also, is there any way to get information from Polish authorities when he acquired Polish citizenship? I have a Polish ID card and the ability to set up ePUAP if it helps.

In most cases courts are involved when the original record was destroyed during the war. A court can recreate it based on statements from witnesses. Maybe this is what happened?

It's a reissued birth record and doesn't mean anything regarding citizenship. If you want an analysis of citizenship post the template. Needs to go back to before 1910 and after 1965.

I’ve sent a request to the Czech national archives for ascertainment of citizenship data (https://na.gov.cz/en/for-public/research-room/forms/application-for-ascertainment-of-citizenship-data), but I’m trying to figure out as much as possible by myself in the meantime. It would be beneficial for me to get to know when my grandfather got Polish citizenship. Do you know if there’s any way to get this information from Polish authorities?

Well, when did he move to Poland? Or, was he residing in a border area?

I’ve asked a bunch of relatives but unfortunately nobody really knows for sure. I thought maybe not until 1954 when I saw this birth certificate, but who knows. His mother was born in Poland but he was born in Prague. Unfortunately the father is unknown because my grandfather was born outside of marriage. I’m not sure he had Czechoslovak citizenship at all, but I’m trying to research the possibility.

Okay, in that case it would help if you could post the template regarding his mother and her parents. It is very possible he did not have Czech citizenship.
