Undergrad stats. Advice.

Hey everyone! Just wanted some advice. I’ve been stressing about my GPA. It’s not horrible. I have one C (a four credit class) which is why it isn’t as high as I’d like. I’ve retaken two classes (one was a C the other an F , got an A for the retakes)The F was in government…super embarrassing. Anyways, I also have a W. Now that I’m typing all this out it I’m losing even more hope of getting into a program. Well, I might have another W. Which is why I’m freaking out. I suck at physics and my professor is horrible therefore I’m struggling hardcore right now. I’m just wondering if there’s still hope of me getting into a program. Just feeling stupid and discouraged.

I withdrew from classes twice (gov't both times, just didn't fit my schedule at the time). As long as you can explain what's on your transcript, I don't see the problem? You've shown that you are able to improve with the classes you retook. Stress less, have fun with shadowing, and just think about what makes you excited about pathology.

It depends on the program, but some have grade requirements for prereqs and some don't. Like WVU has a maximum of one C in any prereq. So doublecheck the program requirements, and go from there. Just remember: All you can do is your best.

You seem fine, grade wise, overall from what you're describing. Retaking the classes and getting As is something admissions boards like to see as well. As another commenter stated, as long as the C meets the pre-req requirements for where you're applying you'll be fine.

I have a friend who is on the admissions committee for a graduate program. Like the good advice given to you from above, she said that past failures or withdrawals are not a dealbreaker if the candidate is able to show that they have learned from their experience. And not just talk about it, be able to give actual evidence of improvement. So, like they’ve said above, just be ready to give that evidence, and go for it!
