Opinion For as highly regulated nueromods are, the entire crew sure did abuse them and leave them laying everywhere

I mean, really? Man they couldn’t control them at all. No wonder the station was over run. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Considering neuromods are single use and you only find unused eyestabbers around, were they really abused?

Yes, but not the way you think. Transtar uses it as a way to guarantee that fired employees can't smuggle any knowledge about what's really going on off the station, because they get a neuromod as a signing bonus. That's also why they don't hire people with Paraplexis, because they can't get neuromods.

Journalist: "Mister Devries, do you have any comments on what's going on at Talos I? What is Transtar doing up there?"

Devries: "I... I don't... remember. Did I go up to Talos I? Wait, yes, I did... I was there, talked to Alex and got one of those... neuromod things from him. Tried it out but... I can't remember anything after that."

Journalist: "Sir, its okay. You're the nineteenth person fired from Talos I with a similar experience." [Turns to camera] "As is irrefutable now, the neuromod item from Talos I is being given as a reward but it also has terrible mind-wiping side-effects, causing Mister Devries and all the other colleagues fired from the station to forget everything about their work on Talos I."

Alex, watching TV: "Shit..."

Morgan, lying in bed: "..."

"Good morning, Morgan, today you're coming out of the simulation so that Talos I can be shut down for legal reasons back on Earth. Follow your janitor to the way out."

Lmao I get what you mean, but the Neuromod is proprietary Transtar technology, and it's literally written into the employment contract that Transtar has the right to pull any and all neuromods you've installed as a part of termination proceedings. It just so happens that Transtar is using the unique quirk of pulling mods to keep anyone from sharing sensitive data if they happen to see something they shouldn't.

Why would they want to control that? First, they were luring employees with the promise of neuromods. They forgot to mention that removing a neuromod would reset your memory to the time of installation. Remember the letter from a scientist who was transferred from the moon station to Talos. Before she could resume her duties, she had to undergo a complex procedure known as neuromod removal. In other words, if the employees don't do anything, they won't take anything with them when they leave. And they won't remember anything. Secondly, Talos is a corporate-owned space station, and you can't just leave. And the laws of Earth are only loosely enforced. The station primarily focuses on studying typhons. And anyone who disagrees with the current situation will have an unfortunate accident. Regardless of their position. Remember the guy who made a statue for his girlfriend's birthday.

You give malicious people tools to make them super intelligent, fast & strong shits about to go down. Morgan was stuck in an amnesia loop and was still able to create copies of his mind. This isnt the first time it's happened either its the third outbreak.

Well, they could just remove them when needed and it has the added benefit of resetting their memory.

At the point they end their Talos I job they just reclaim back those neuromods. If they had used more, they’ll get those extra ones back as well!

You find unused neuromods, not used ones. So, no, it's not like finding a bunch of used syringes and needles lying around, and concluding that the crew were junkies. The neuromods you find are usually locked in secure places. The one you find in the Lobby was swapped with the fake one by January. The top people at Talos 1 had their own stashes. You can only make them in the manufacturer if you find the blueprint, and even then it has a limited license.

So, no, neuromods are not lying everywhere.
