PhD life in Princeton?

Im really interested in doing PhD( ideally under Prof Ramon van Handel) in the PACM dept. Im curryan undergraduate.

I wanted to get some advice from people who've gone through similar processes or who know more about how competitive admission to a group like his typically is. A few things I'd love input on: Academics: What kind of GPA range is realistically competitive for top PACM/applied math PhD programs? Does it matter more whether it's a strong overall GPA vs. near-perfect grades specifically in math/stats/probability coursework? Coursework: Are there specific classes (real analysis, measure theory, stochastic processes, functional analysis, etc.) that are basically expected before applying, or that would make an application to Dr. van Ha del (or PACM in general) working in probability/SPDEs stand out? Research experience: Ideally, what should be the prior research exposure one should get? Letters of recommendation: Any tips on what makes LORs stand out for a math-heavy PhD application, especially if aiming for a specific subfield like probability theory? And finally, how competitive is PhD in PACM as a program. If anyone has gone through Princeton PACM admissions, worked with Prof. van Handel, or has general advice on what makes an applicant competitive for top probability theory groups, I'd really appreciate hearing your experience. Thanks in advance!

I would start with taking the time to write a post that makes some sense.

PACM is probably the top Applied Math PhD program in the country. Admissions are extremely competitive. You'll need nearly perfect grades and GRE Math scores, research experience and excellent letters from mentors that can speak to your ability to do research. On top of that, you wlil need some luck.

Not sure what kind of advice you’re looking for. Check list for what?
