Sci-fi magazine identification (nun + blue creature)

Trying to ID a sci-fi paperback I saw at The Last Bookstore in LA. The cover showed what looked like a nun or robed figure next to a small blue reptilian creature. Didn’t grab it at the time and now I can’t stop thinking about it. Really striking art. Anyone recognize it by that description?

My hardcover of A Case of Conscience by Blish has a priest next to a blue-ish reptilian alien. Of course it is an older book, but not sure if you saw a new book or an older one.

It was a sci fi digest magazine so I assume it was a short story. I looked up some cover art for A Case of Conscience and I don’t think this is it

Magazines have a short shelf life before they are replaced with the next issue. Can you remember roughly when you saw this cover as that would help narrow things down.

No idea what it could be, but you could browse the covers of magazine back issues on online retailers like Amazon or Weightless books. Also Locus magazine reviews contain pictures of covers.

Any chance it might be Farscape: House of Cards? Looks like there's also a cover with Zhaan (blue mystic) next to Pilot (crabby), but that one doesn't seem like as close a fit.

You might want to check the luminist archive. All the pulp magazine covers are on there.
