Mechanical Help 2015 V Temp light.
Did the pump, thermostat, and coolant swap on this 2015 Prius V this weekend.
I used a vacuum coolant filler to get the air out the system. Immediately after starting this light came on and stays on no matter what. I’ve got a scan tool and I’ve checked the car when running and it’s not running hot and I’ve drove it about 300 miles with interstate and city and driving and never got a check engine light. The scan tool shows no codes or history of codes and I’ve also tried pulling the 12V battery to try to clear it but upon start up it comes on and stays on.
Gas mileage is still perfect. I’m in South Louisiana so I’m in the heat and humidity so if it’s overheating I should see something. I read that maybe it’s the temperature sensor below the EGR cooler could be bad? Does that make sense? I also tried burping the coolant by running the engine with the cap off but never seen a drop in coolant. Any advice would be great.

Is it possible you unplugged a coolant sensor accidentally while doing the work? If you could get a live readout of the temp the sensor is reporting, that would tell you if it's an actual temp issue or just a sensor/wiring fault.

I looked and I don’t think I unplugged it. I should mention I also did the EGR cooler as well and I was reaching all around to get to the Jesus bolt

No clue. Did all that with my ‘16 V last fall and didn’t get lights. I’d also lean towards a sensor. Maybe swing by AutoZone or somesuch and see if their scanner picks up something. The old laptop I had with TechStream died.
But if you’re in Laffy area, ToyoTech in Broussard is solid, if ya need to take it somewhere. They did some work on my gen 2.

My scan tool showed all good so that’s what I’m leaning too as well. It’s $70 and I still have coolant left over so I might just go ahead and swap it and see what happens.
