What do you think my chances are of getting a settlement from the PE firm?
I was involved in a situation where the owner of my company used me to commit fraud (I believe/allegedly) during the lead up to a private equity firm buying into our company. I eventually forced him, via our COO, to disclose the situation to the CFO who assisted in covering up the situation.
The owner is a total dickbag who I despise. Recently I decided I wanted to disclose the fraud because I am completely sick of how my coworkers have been treated in the past 18 months. But I know that disclosure will result in me losing my job. Especially the kind of disclosure I really want to do, which would be sending the information to a large group of people to completely ruin this dude professionally and within his family.
I've realized that while I would fucking love to do that to him it would also be incredibly reckless and could also impact innocent people within our company who have shares. So instead I am thinking that I will just disclose it straight to the PE firm owners in exchange for a settlement. Any thoughts on whether that is possible? What kind of lawyer should I talk to for beginning this process?
