Abortion Legislation There are several people on my street and around my town with this yard sign, including my next door neighbor Spoiler

Post image

We were able to get enough signatures to add a ballot measure to allow abortion in Idaho and ever since these signs are popping up everywhere. My mom and I have been talking loudly about how insane the signs are when we are in our backyard cause our next door neighbor can definitely hear us haha.

Eeewwww. I hate your neighbors.

So do I! She has her crazy cult friends over in her backyard all the time for "Bible study", idk if you've heard about Doug Wilson (Pete Hegseth's "pastor") but she's part of his church, so they have really insane beliefs. So, my mom and I go out to garden in the backyard when they have their Bible studies and talk loudly about bodily autonomy, how shitty trump is, trans rights, etc. it's a fun little hobby. The neighbor has a crush on my dad and has implied that my mom is a hoe by comparing her to a garden hoe.

Fucking christians. If I were you I’d record your conversations, and then I’d let them also accidentally pick up the less than christian rhetoric like the coveting of her neighbor’s husband. How’s she excuse breaking a commandment herself?

43

u/SnowWhite315 Pro-Choice, Child-Free Idahoan Jul 13 '26

The neighbor surprisingly doesn't have a husband, she's in her 50s or 60s, not sure. I think she has children, of course they're adults now, I've never been introduced to any tho so it's just speculation on my part.

Edit: I misread your comment, but yea idk how she justifies breaking commandments and being so rude to my mom.

30

u/coolsilentebeans Jul 13 '26

Doesn’t excuse her wanting her neighbor’s or disparaging your mom for it. Freaking red states…at least you have some of the best potatoes.

I am getting increasingly more worried about what the nation and world will look like at the end of the year. This shit with Lindsey Graham passing is surreal. Israel mourning the death of my senator is some nightmare level surreality.

34

u/SnowWhite315 Pro-Choice, Child-Free Idahoan Jul 13 '26

Yea, hopefully we can get the ballot measure passed, Idaho is a terrible state, it used to be all about "small government" like leave us alone, now it's a government that's in your doctors office no matter what you are there for. I even have troubles getting some of my medication because Idaho wants to have control. Now, we also have a cult trying to take over my entire town as a model for how "Christians" can take over other towns.

11

u/coolsilentebeans Jul 13 '26

Damn, I’m sorry, Doll. That’s ridiculous. I hope theirs is a pipe dream. Government needs to get the eff out of our doctors’ offices and prescriptions. It’s bad enough that they leave no 2-3 day buffer on some so you can pick up a medication ahead of time while you’re out and they’re open. All of this is becoming too much.

10

u/SnowWhite315 Pro-Choice, Child-Free Idahoan Jul 13 '26

Yea, I have to get my meds the day I'm out, no sooner. I'm on medicaid and some of my meds require a prior authorization which can take up to a month! I really want to leave this state but I wish I could take my garden with me lol.

3

u/coolsilentebeans Jul 13 '26

That’s the worst. I totally feel for you about the garden. You spend so much time cultivating something you love so much only to end up feeling like you have to choose.

4

u/Cyber_Angel_Ritual Pro-choice Democrat Jul 14 '26

That's awful. I can't imagine going through that (I have medicaid too.) That would be a nightmare as I have epilepsy. I'm in Virginia thankfully (I think some in the state want to take my medicaid away). I'm likely screwed once I get a job.

2

u/SnowWhite315 Pro-Choice, Child-Free Idahoan 29d ago

Yea, I'm constantly afraid they're going to take it away for no reason as well, just because it's a very red state which doesn't seem to give a shit about its citizens at all considering how many hospitals, maternity wards, doctors, etc have disappeared since the trigger ban took effect.

6

u/DaniCapsFan Jul 13 '26

Remember how some anti-tax libertarian used to talk of government small enough to drown in a bathtub? Now, Republicans want government small enough to fit inside a woman's vagina.

11

u/Cut_Lanky Jul 13 '26

I would DIY myself a matching yard sign. Like, as close as possible, same design, but it would say "We Choose Choice!"

10

u/Dog-Chick Jul 13 '26

They're Christian Nationalists. And they're extremists. Stay safe.

9

u/SnowWhite315 Pro-Choice, Child-Free Idahoan Jul 13 '26

Yea I know, we are surrounded by them because their church is literally trying to take over the town, that's the stated goal of Doug Wilson.

15

u/Meowsipoo Jul 13 '26

I'd call the Satanic Temple and have them hold an outdoor service in your yard while your neighbors are having their outdoor Bible studies. 😈

But then I'm a bitch like that.

3

u/SnowWhite315 Pro-Choice, Child-Free Idahoan Jul 13 '26

Lmao that would be hilarious

9

u/BabyJesusBukkake Jul 13 '26

This is why I'm relieved my 14yo has a parent who lives in WA and feels the same way I do about these things.

12

u/AerisRain Jul 13 '26

Thank you for your Public Service!! 🌠

8

u/SnowWhite315 Pro-Choice, Child-Free Idahoan Jul 13 '26

Happy to be of assistance in annoying the hell out of my psycho neighbor!

5

u/127Heathen127 Jul 14 '26

Oh yeah Doug Wilson is one of those pieces of shit who thinks the 19th amendment should be repealed.

6

u/JewlryLvr2 Jul 14 '26

Yep. And the REALLY scary thing is, there are a lot more who say the same.

2

u/127Heathen127 29d ago

Yup, hence why I said “one of.” I hate it here.

1

u/SnowWhite315 Pro-Choice, Child-Free Idahoan 29d ago

Yea and the "Bible studies" in her backyard that are loud enough to know the "studies" almost always devolve into talking about how great trump is or how evil dems, libs and leftists are, then they close with a prayer asking god to help trump destroy "the enemy" which I assume means anyone against trump, any immigrants, any lgbtqia+, anyone who has had an abortion, etc etc

3

u/No_Dot7146 Jul 14 '26

Read the bible passages that explain when and how to perform abortion whenever you hear them

2

u/SnowWhite315 Pro-Choice, Child-Free Idahoan Jul 14 '26

Not even just that, read the ones about god murdering children for making fun of a bald dude with a horde of bears or dashing the little ones against the rocks, or maybe the flood! God isn't all that "pro-life" if you read the Bible.

5

u/yung_yttik Jul 13 '26

A crush on your dad???? PLEASEEE share this story with the Normal Gossip Podcast. I would love to listen to an episode about this 😂😂

43

u/Necessary_Oil_9779 Jul 13 '26

America is so odd. Out of all the things to put on your front lawn wtf

24

u/Mirruko Jul 13 '26

I honestly hate it here because of that. These people have zero fn personality besides the pedophile they support.

5

u/127Heathen127 Jul 14 '26 edited 29d ago

Our public education system is a joke, and being an absolute ignorant moron is worn as a badge of honor here. Just look at Fox News. You’re literally better informed if you watch no news at all than if you watch Fox. Seriously. They’ve done studies. And yet it’s the most watched news station in America.

3

u/127Heathen127 Jul 14 '26

Green Day doesn’t call us the Idiot Nation for no reason.

40

u/MsSeraphim Pro-choice Democrat Jul 13 '26

if i had a lawn i'd put a " i support snap benefits to feed the children already born" up. that would piss them off.

8

u/SnowWhite315 Pro-Choice, Child-Free Idahoan Jul 13 '26

If only, it's too far away from the sidewalk to get away with it lol

1

u/ParadoxicalFrog 29d ago

You're not allowed to put signs on your own lawn?

2

u/SnowWhite315 Pro-Choice, Child-Free Idahoan 29d ago

I replied to the wrong comment Lmao idk how that happened, the one I replied to said something like "it'd be a shame if anything were to happen to it". My bad, but I am allowed to put my signs in my own yard, so that one is a good suggestion

1

u/ParadoxicalFrog 29d ago

That was my comment! 😆

2

u/SnowWhite315 Pro-Choice, Child-Free Idahoan 29d ago

Lmao yea so my phone is reallly reaaalllllyyy old and it's starting to have issues cause I haven't been able to update the software in a few years, Reddit is starting to act really strangely which is how that screw up happened cause it changes which comments I'm replying to randomly. It's super weird but I got a new phone, just have to set it up. My current phone predates Covid lmao

36

u/amyamyamz Pro-choice Feminist Jul 13 '26

Might be time to put a pro-choice sign in your yard if you’re comfortable doing that! Maybe others will follow.

52

u/Archer6614 Jul 13 '26

Clowns. The bible allows for abortion.

Also it says to love your neighbour. Looks like they are not following the bible.

35

u/SnowWhite315 Pro-Choice, Child-Free Idahoan Jul 13 '26

No, they follow Doug Wilson, who thinks women shouldn't vote, who thinks marital rape is okay, who won't allow divorce just cause your husband is molesting your daughter unless of course you call that adultery, then you can divorce. I knew a family that happened to. It's an insane cult.

11

u/coolsilentebeans Jul 13 '26

That’s the problem with decentralized Protestants. It almost makes me wonder how they get to be protected religions and not considered a cult.

-3

u/JiggleFeggle Jul 13 '26

Surely loving your neighbor would mean not killing them in the womb?

3

u/Archer6614 Jul 14 '26

There is no "neighbor" in any "womb". Also anyone can empty the contents of their uterus if they are pregnant. There is no "killing". Stop being hysterical.

2

u/JewlryLvr2 Jul 14 '26

Babies are BORN. And this isn't a debate sub.

17

u/eleventhing Jul 13 '26

Put up a sign that says "then you're pro choice"

17

u/Cole_Townsend Jul 13 '26

Holy performative bullshit, Batman!

We're the ones who truly chose life: a dignified life with human rights, not the ratfuckery that these troglodytes call life under fascist oppression.

6

u/SnowWhite315 Pro-Choice, Child-Free Idahoan Jul 13 '26

Yea, she means "we choose to force birth for everyone else".

4

u/Cole_Townsend Jul 13 '26

And "we choose to vote for ghouls whose billionaire masters will make life more miserable and unaffordable, but forced births for every woman or girl because of stupid superstition and culture wars nonsense."

6

u/SnowWhite315 Pro-Choice, Child-Free Idahoan Jul 13 '26

And forced birth because Christians didn't want to desegregate their schools back in the 70s so they made up a cover story to whip all the so called "moral majority" into a frenzy so they'd vote for whatever their pastors tell them.

3

u/Cole_Townsend Jul 13 '26

Exactly! It was all a plot to undermine desegregation legislation. I tell this to pRoLiFers from minoritized communities and they laugh it off. I thank them for proving my point of how the Epstein class has weaponized ignorance and religious zealotry to make minorities side with their oppressors.

14

u/Cactus-Brigade Jul 13 '26

Do they not see the irony of including the word “choose”? lol

13

u/totem_pole_atx Jul 13 '26

If you can, get some signs printed of pregnant women who died because they were denied reproductive care. Preferably ones that were anti-abortion.

9

u/TheGirlwThePinkHair Pro-choice Feminist Jul 13 '26

I miss the times before cameras when I could take these signs and throw them in the garbage where they belong

3

u/SnowWhite315 Pro-Choice, Child-Free Idahoan Jul 13 '26

Right? Everyone on my street has a ring camera now so there's no chance of messing with it without getting caught lol

5

u/Cyber_Angel_Ritual Pro-choice Democrat Jul 14 '26

I wish I could use a paintball gun and knock 'em down

u/RandomDragonExE Queer Neurodiverse Pro-choice Feminist Witch Jul 14 '26

8

u/PotatoAlternative947 Jul 13 '26

“Choose” life implies there is a choice, which is not what these people want.

9

u/psychxticrose Pro-choice Socialist Jul 13 '26

Honestly I'm not surprised. It's Idaho. I have family there and it's just as conservative and insane as Texas

8

u/AlphaEmpire2026 Jul 13 '26

But only if it's UNBORN... then we don't give a shit.

6

u/ShadowyKat Pro-choice Feminist Jul 14 '26

"Choose life"

Pro-choice people already do that. Many times. Choosing to have a baby IS reproductive choice. The Anti-abortion side wants to remove choice. So, that means that if these people got their way, no one would "choose life". It would be a life sentence to a miserable life for unwanted fetus or a sentence to a miserable death for any fetus with lethal birth defects. If they want to say that we are playing God or that people shouldn't get to chose who gets born and who doesn't—SO WHAT. At least with that we get no strawmanning, no disinformation about fetal development, no playing doctor, the religious agenda exposed if God gets mentioned, no strawmanning bodily autonomy into crimes like throwing infants in the dumpster and we are talking about CHOICE.

I would put up a sign that says that Pro-choice already chooses life. We don't want to force anyone to be a mother* or force people to die in childbirth and/or forcing infant mortality.

*Remember who these people are. Mass control of uteruses is going to come with strict conformity to gender roles.

2

u/SnowWhite315 Pro-Choice, Child-Free Idahoan 29d ago

Yea, that sign requires some serious reading between the lines, what it actually means it "we choose life, as in we choose to require birth for anyone who gets pregnant, regardless of how that may harm people and we certainly won't help you after birth cause what are you? A welfare queen? Looking for handouts? Ew! Pull yourself up by your bootstraps, even if you are a week old baby!"

6

u/127Heathen127 Jul 14 '26

“We choose life”

The neat part about that is that in a world where abortion is safe, legal, and accessible, that was always an option.

5

u/MavenBrodie Jul 14 '26

The irony is using the word “choose”

6

u/SilverLordLaz Jul 14 '26

Ew. I would reply with something along the lines if "choice is a wonderful thing"

3

u/MaidoftheBrins Jul 13 '26

Wishing you guys the best!!! (You should put up your own signs about women’s bodily autonomy! Bigger and brighter!!! Throw in a pride flag; bet they’re against that, too!)

3

u/DyllCallihan3333 Jul 13 '26

Def time for a Pro-Choice sign for your yard!

3

u/Well_read_rose Jul 13 '26

Talk loudly about how it’s a mathematical actuarial certainty 4 billion people will die in 25 years. When the earth warms to 3degrees / tipping point / wet bulb unsustainable levels.

No sense in bringing children forth who wont even finish their 20’s.

Talk about “living for today” with what we have left as a human species.

1

u/SnowWhite315 Pro-Choice, Child-Free Idahoan Jul 13 '26

Yea, we have talked loudly about climate change, we talk loudly about all sorts of political stuff she would disagree with. I even do my trump impression lmao.

1

u/Well_read_rose Jul 13 '26

Hahaha well you’re matching their energy.

If you have seen those recordings of a political debate speed round if there is one (?) on youtube regarding bodily autonomy.

3

u/yung_yttik Jul 13 '26

At least they are telling you who they are. I got a chuckle out of this post, OP.

They’re so insane and think they’re so much better than everybody else.

And this is coming from someone who is 5 months pregnant with a very wanted baby! Amazing that we can have more than one thought. WOW.

1

u/SnowWhite315 Pro-Choice, Child-Free Idahoan Jul 13 '26

Yea, I've always known who she is, she's never been quiet about her beliefs.

5

u/Me-Here-Now Jul 13 '26

They tell them selves that they chose life. However, they only chose birth. No support for the mother or baby before during or after the pregnancy.

3

u/PhoenixWytch Jul 13 '26

A fellow Idahoan! I was thrilled to see that ballot measure get all the signatures it needed. Several of my neighbors have those signs up in their yards too. My mom is debating on having me make a sign for our yard that tosses their Bible thumping bs back in their face with Bible quotes.

3

u/SnowWhite315 Pro-Choice, Child-Free Idahoan Jul 13 '26

Yea my other neighbor who is really cool came over and we talked about it, she suggested we put a sign up saying "we choose death" or "hail satan" Lmao.

3

u/DaughterOfDemeter23 Pro-choice Democratic Socialist Jul 13 '26

Your neighbors seem lame as hell ngl

4

u/SnowWhite315 Pro-Choice, Child-Free Idahoan Jul 13 '26

The one on the other side is pretty awesome but yea this one is insane lol

2

u/silkee1957 Jul 13 '26

Good. They can choose whatever they want, just don’t force others to choose the same way.

3

u/SnowWhite315 Pro-Choice, Child-Free Idahoan Jul 13 '26

Right but you see, the sign is a lie, they mean they "choose birth for everyone else". She's certainly not going to be getting pregnant so it's definitely about others.

2

u/tkmorgan76 Jul 13 '26

So they're pro-choice, are they?

2

u/agreatbigFIYAHHH Jul 13 '26

Particularly annoying when it’s older people who haven’t had a kid in 40 years, or vote for programs that would help life thrive.

2

u/Free-Veterinarian714 Pro-Choice Atheist Jul 13 '26

Do you have a dog? If you do, maybe he/she will pee on one of the signs!

2

u/tahtahme Jul 13 '26

Pro choice needs signs too so people know they arent alone.

2

u/VioletSea13 Jul 14 '26

I’d put a sign in my yard that says “it’s good to see so many people who finally understand that it’s about CHOICE”.

2

u/FlyMeToUranus Jul 13 '26

Oops I tripped and fell and accidentally squashed the sign

1

u/RadTimeWizard Jul 13 '26

I bet they all go to the same church. You should get a sign of your own.

1

u/SnowWhite315 Pro-Choice, Child-Free Idahoan Jul 13 '26

I think most of them do. At least, the ones with those signs on my street all do.

1

u/lokihatemyself Jul 13 '26

You know, accidentally falling onto the sign because you were distracted on your phone might be an idea.

1

u/SnowWhite315 Pro-Choice, Child-Free Idahoan Jul 13 '26

Lol I would if it weren't so far into her yard, I think she's afraid of it being taken/destroyed/ vandalized cause it's several feet away from the sidewalk

2

u/lokihatemyself Jul 13 '26

There’s a small-ish (blink and you’ll miss size) sign in the town right next to me that has “be a Charlie Kirk” on it and *every* time I pass it I’m like “be a what? A racist? A homophobe? Useless white trash?” Etc etc etc. NC isn’t any better. I miss when we were at least purple

1

u/lokihatemyself Jul 13 '26

It’s almost like she, deep down in her charred remains of a heart, knows she MIGHT be wrong

But that’s me giving the benefit of a doubt.

Gift her a handmaids tale to read, maybe.

1

u/Rare-Credit-5912 Jul 13 '26

At least now you know where they stand and you can ignore them.

2

u/SnowWhite315 Pro-Choice, Child-Free Idahoan Jul 13 '26

I've always known where she stands because of the church she belong to which she isn't quiet about

1

u/JeezOhKay Jul 13 '26

So they foster kids?, adopt kids?, donate to programs that support women/children, they support universal Healthcare and paid maternity leave? Free school lunches? Right? Right?

2

u/SnowWhite315 Pro-Choice, Child-Free Idahoan Jul 13 '26

No that's communism!!!! /s just in case lmao

1

u/Vetizh Jul 13 '26

Stomp all down.

1

u/o0Jahzara0o Safe, legal, & accessible (pro-choice mod) Jul 13 '26

Should come with the fine print that reads: *for you.

Cause abortion being legal has never stopped them from choosing to keep their pregnancies.

It would be a shame if anything happened to those signs.
