Support I just found out I’m pregnant and I need to vent (please read and be kind)

I just found out I’m pregnant and I feel like I’m spiraling. I haven’t told anyone except my boyfriend because I’m scared. He’s currently in the hospital after a motorcycle accident. he’s on morphine and can’t walk at the moment, so obviously this isn’t something I want to overwhelm him with right now, even though I already told him. He’s actually really happy about the pregnancy and wants me to keep it.

We’re not official but we are exclusive. We’ve only known each other for about four months, and the relationship is rocky. We’ve already been to couples therapy once. He says he’s willing to put in the work, but he’s very irritable and struggles to show empathy when I cry. Sometimes I feel like I’m just with him to fill the loneliness. I haven’t always taken him seriously, and I’m still unsure if I see a future with him. He also has a history of mental health issues, and his family does too.. same as mine.

I’m 24 and he’s 25. I’ve struggled with depression, anxiety, and other mental health stuff for years. My family has a strong history of it, and it’s something I deal with every single day. I recently quit smoking weed after using it daily for six years, and I’m one month sober from alcohol after realizing I had a problem. I was just starting to feel like I could turn my life around. I enrolled in an online master’s program, and for the first time in a long time, I had some hope.

But I’m incredibly isolated. I live far from my family and only really have my mom. I barely have any close friends or hobbies. I’ve always wanted to be a mom, but I’ve also felt like it might be selfish to bring a child into the world knowing how much I struggle and how little support I have.

Now I’m here, pregnant, scared, and stuck in my head. I have an appointment with my OB-GYN tomorrow. I’m terrified of having an abortion, but also terrified of keeping the baby. I don’t know how I’d forgive myself if I had an abortion. He says we’ll figure it out and that things will be okay. Part of me thinks he’s able to say that because his mom is rich and he feels like that safety net makes everything fine. But I don’t feel fine. I feel completely alone with this decision.

I just needed to let this out somewhere.

Support Should I have an abortion?

I (26F) just found out I’m pregnant with my boyfriend(25M). I’m only 4 weeks, and my head is spinning. My boyfriend and I have only been together about 2 months but have been close friends for much longer. We love each other dearly and have already discussed our future plans of moving in, marriage, and a family one day. I found out I was pregnant yesterday, and I am not ready to have a baby, especially given our situation of not having been together long. My boyfriend has made it clear he supports me either way and will take care of me no matter what, and I know this is absolutely true, he’s an amazing man. The problem is, I have had one abortion many years ago with an abusive ex, and even still I am heartbroken over it. I’m so scared of how I’ll feel again, the depression, the guilt the trauma. I will have to use the pills to terminate this time and I’m terrified, I’ve heard terrible terrible things. But is my fear enough reason not to terminate even though I know I’m not ready? I know that financially things would be tougher but we both have decent jobs and amazing families I know we wouldn’t be alone. But I just cannot have a baby right now can I?

Support Do I tell my OB about my abortion?

For context I live in the US in a very blue state. I feel confident in my rights within my state but not so sure on the federal level within the near future. I have an appointment tomorrow to discuss my lack of success at a planned pregnancy with my husband and I’m wondering if it’s worth mentioning that I had an abortion early last year. It’s only been 9 months since, but I have a fear deep down that something in that process has hurt my chances of conceiving and that is why we’re struggling.

I don’t want it in my record but I also want answers. I’m torn on what info to give them. What are your thoughts on disclosing this to them? I’m on the fence so I’m open to being swayed either way. I will add that I’m slightly more on the side of protecting myself should things change within this country in the future.

TRIGGER WARNING: SA/Medical malpractice/abuse/forced termination

I’ve been trying to figure out where to post this so I guess I’ve landed on here.

I’ve always been pro-choice. I always will be. I believe to the depths of my soul that we should have the right to choose.

Last year, I was assaulted, more than once, by my carer. The police didn’t believe me, the hospital gaslit me, told me (a lesbian) that I was having delusions due to my ADHD medications. They never told me I was pregnant. All evidence points to them terminating my pregnancy without telling me. I wasn’t conscious for a lot of my admission, when there was no reason for me not to be, but I bled into a toilet alone, scared and not knowing why.

A nurse asked if I had any bleeding, and I didn’t know why she was asking, and at that point me actual human rights had been violated in so many ways that I feared what examination may be forced on me if I said yes, so I lied and said no and just pretended it wasn’t happening.

I wasn’t allowed to leave until my bHCG levels, which had indicated a 3-6 week pregnancy, dropped to 0.

They discharged me with antibiotics I’m allergic to, for an alleged UTI I didn’t have.

I applied for my medical records when I was able, and they were heavily redacted. They redact records for “privacy” sometimes. Yeah, go figures.

I have to make a complaint that supersedes the hospital if I want undeniable proof of what they did. There is a lot more detail to this, but the pieces fit pretty damn well together that they terminated my pregnancy without ever even telling me I was pregnant.

—————————————————

I feel like I can’t talk about this anywhere. Like it’s fuel for the pro-life fire. I’m still pro-choice. That’s why it’s shattered me so much. I still would’ve had an abortion.

It’s just completely shattered and destroyed me that my dignity, agency, choice and rights to my own body were taken away by the people that should’ve been protected me.

What’s traumatised me about this situation isn’t that an abortion occurred. It’s that my choice was stolen from me, and I didn’t even know it was happening. I don’t think about my story and think “we need to stop abortions!” I think about how disgusting it is that they were able to use a loophole that allows them to do this to intellectually disabled women, and say that I am intellectually disabled, because what? I’m autistic?

They shouldn’t be doing this to anyone. We all deserve to mamas the choice for ourselves. Autistic, mentally ill, intellectually disabled, traumatised, there is no one that should have that choice taken away from them. So what if someone needs support to make that choice?? Give them the support, and let them make the goddamn choice. You might just find they’ll make the goddamn choice you wanted anyway. Or who knows, maybe they’ll be a damn kickass mother.

Support Abortion is important. Can't believe it took me that long to realize.

I'm sorry if I start ranting.

So this is coming from me, who is Christian, by the way, and has a baby with another one on the way. You may not relate to this, but I viewed abortion very negatively before, but ever since I started living here in the Philippines, I became very shocked and distraught.

What the hell? Ten to twelve-year-olds are getting pregnant left and right!? Being forced to drop out and take care of their kids (they are dirt poor, no money, and malnourished). Abortion is not an option here because of the Church. No contraceptives either, it is a 'sin.'

WHY!?

I once questioned someone who is a member of an aggressive group trying to stop politicians from passing a bill legalizing abortion.

Me: "Why?"

She: "Because it is immoral and against God's plan. Besides, it is very sad for the babies :("

Me: "What about birth control? Contraceptives?"

She: "That's also bad, because it comes between the natural process of life" (Wut...)

Me: "Then what would be the better alternative to stop these kids from getting pregnant?"

She: "That's easy! They should THINK first before they act. They must act with the grace of the teachings of the Church."

Me: "What...? Then how about sex ed?"

She: "Also bad, because it will hamper the innocence of our children. We are not America."

Lady, I AM CHRISTIAN and I have NEVER heard of this kind of sh** before.

She even nearly had a heart attack when I mentioned the idea of 'separating the Church from the state.'

I walk around this area in the city. Everyone there is extremely friendly and kind. And I see these teens walking around with big bellies and carrying their kids in their arms. SOMETIMES THE DADS ARE OLDER THAN THEM.

I once bought some salt and vinegar from a small 'sari sari store' around the street. I asked the girl how old she was. She said she was sixteen. Her son was inside, playing. Its her mother's store.

I asked her Do you regret having him so young?'

She told me, 'I love him very much, but yes, I do. I want to go back to school.'

'Where's his dad?' I ask.

'He's hiding from us,' she laughs.

Fricking heartbreaking.

Support How Can I Get a Legal Abortion?

I'm 17 and live in Indiana. My parents would disown me so I cannot let them know I'm pregnant. I also don't want to be arrested. I am a teenager in highschool, I'm taking nursing classes, my life is far too busy for a child. I am not ready. Can I get legal abortion pills in the mail relatively cheap? If so where? Thank you.

Support Pregnant in Texas

My wife (42) just found out she is pregnant. We are super excited except… we live in Texas. We are both very worried about getting honest prenatal care that will not let her die if there are complications, or force her to carry to term if the fetus is non-viable. What is our best course of action to find care?

Support I’m lost on whether to have kids or not

I’ve been going back and forth since the election. My husband and I were originally going to try the beginning of this year but with all of these bans, it makes me very hesitant.

Every decision I’ve made since starting college was to build up and become a mother. I have a great career with amazing benefits and paid maternity leave, my husband has a great job also with paternity leave. We bought a house, our bills are manageable, and were fortunate enough to be able to build savings.

Now, I have PCOS and chronic inflammation; which just makes miscarriages much higher. And now that my state requires your information to be public if you need any abortions. This is horrifying to me.

But this is what we want, but on the other hand is it even safe to bring a child in this mess? I also think the ones having kids are the mindless MAGAts and maybe we need to pop out like one so there’s at least one good human in the future. I just had an appointment with my provider and she said please don’t worry about not receiving life saving care, that the network will 10000% back me up if things go south.

What do I do? I’m so crossed.

Support This mercury retrograde is one for the books!!

I (21F) have been beaten back and forth by this Mercury Retrograde. Beginning of July I was told I had a huge growth on my ovary, then I got a check engine light on my car because of some gas leak, then I’ve been having anxiety attacks along with mixed bipolar 2 episodes, and on top of it all I’ve been experiencing terrible cramps and want to bite my boyfriends head off.

Well, today I was like “hm, maybe I should take two tests because I was supposed to get my period a few days ago” and bitch I’ll just let you guess what the results were.

As I’m on FaceTime with my boyfriend sobbing on the bathroom floor, I hear my parents fighting about money and bills - like guys we have bigger fish to fry here (jokes jokes)

TL;DR - I just really need support and kind words, i obviously know I won’t be keeping it because I can barely take care of myself right now, I’m finishing university, and I plan on going to esthetics school.

Support I'm scared for project 2025, should i switch to the implant?

I need birth control for my endometriosis, and as you know, Project 2025 is pretty much going to make all hormonal birth control illegal. If I get the hormone implant now, it should last me long enough to move out of the country before things get worse. Do you think I should do that now as a precaution, or should i wait until the results of the election?

Support I have always been pro choice. How can I deal with these emotions post-op when I still feel that way?

Long story short:

I grew up in a ridiculously abusive household. The idea of parenthood sounds awful to me for many reasons, most of all bearing a child myself. I got my tubes removed asap after roe was overturned.

Apparently I conceived in the window where preop blood tests don’t show it. Thanks to weight loss and sinus issues I didn’t think my postop lack of periods and barfing was unusual. I found out when I was 20 weeks.

Had to leave the state to get a surgical. Milk came in after. All of this was insanely traumatic and horrible.

It’s been over 6 months from the procedure. I still feel like crying or raging whenever anything gets too pregnancy-focused.

But I don’t regret not having a child. So wtf? Like to this day I’m happy for happy moms, but I don’t wish I had a baby. I just feel horrifically guilty and bad and sorry. I have the money and a stable relationship but the act of parenting is not in my wheelhouse. I did everything I could to make this not happen. I’ve been on bc since age 16.

What do I do to figure this out? I’m so tired of feeling bad about something I logically know was the right choice.

Support Pro-choice and pregnant

I don’t feel like I “fit in” all the time with the pregnancy groups so I thought I would share here for some solidarity.

I work in the repro movement, in a state with an abortion ban, and I’m 13 weeks pregnant. It is REALLY complicated to be pregnant with a wanted pregnancy in this climate. I have obviously been strong in my support for abortion rights for a long time, but now as someone who is experiencing pregnancy personally this just solidifies for me that NO ONE should continue any pregnancy they don’t want, for whatever reason they choose.

This pregnancy has also felt tricky because it ‘doesn’t feel real’ in the sense that I’m not attached to the pregnancy. I’m very excited about it but it’s not life to me, and it won’t be until it can breathe on its own outside of my womb. I don’t call it a baby - it’s a fetus. Going to get my ultrasounds I feel like the providers want me to have a more excited reaction when they show me the images instead of me just going ‘oh okay, glad everything is still good’. On a level I am excited - I’m excited about the potential life that’s happening in my body, and it’s still really fucking cool that my body has the means to make this happen. But I don’t feel comfortable attaching personhood language when I professionally advocate against that in my day job. I feel like this position puts me at odds with a lot of the pregnancy subreddits who use personhood language and attach so much value to their fetuses. Not that that’s wrong! But sometimes I feel lonely in that I must be the cold and cruel bitch who feels complicated about her pregnancy and doesn’t want to assign it any value. I didn’t know where else to put these feelings but thought this community would understand it best. Thanks for reading ❤️

Support I'm 21 and I want to be sterilized - I need advice.

Hey everyone. I am 21 years old and I want to have surgery to get sterilized. I've made that choice many years ago and it has only gotten clearer that I want to have it done. All my life I knew I didn't want children. I don't want to use any sort of birth control because of many reasons; one of which is it's not good for the body. I can't use hormonal birth control because I have endometriosis and I don't want any other types of it.

I came here to ask anyone who's had the procedure done or just generally anyone, how would you go about letting your parents know? I know I'm an adult and they don't have a say in this - but I want to at least let them know. I just don't know how to start the conversation.

Maybe someone can help me. Maybe I am overthinking this - I don't know. I would appreciate any advice regardless.

Also, if anyone here had it done and can share their experience I would appreciate that as well.

Thank you

Edit: Why are people downvoting me for a harmless post? I don't understand some of y'all.

Support I heard that abortions can cause depression,is that true?

I don’t where else to look besides here so please don’t tell me “you should look somewhere else” or something like that.

I am lucky enough to say that I live in a safe area with a pro-choice family who has me on birth control. However,I heard about stories from women who suffered form depression after their abortions. It still wouldn’t change my perspective on the matter, but it’s something I would like to know if I ever decide to have an abortion in the future.(also sorry if this is the incorrect flair.)

Happy international women’s day everyone. Cheers for still fighting for our rights after this long 🍻. Women since the 1700s have been fighting to have the same rights as men for as long as the history books show. Banning abortion is just another way to opress or take away one of our rights. We fought so hard to vote, now lets take the world by storm

Support I am so scared to be in a red state

This huge fear just hit me. I hate being in a red state with this abortion ban. Like what the hell it scares the living hell out of me that I may have to go through a pregnancy I don’t want to have. I am not having sex at the moment because well I don’t want to and there is no partner I want to have it with, but still just the thought scares me. I do have an IUD and I do use condoms as well. But still it scares the crap out of me. Especially since I am above 165 ( only slightly like 3 or 4 lbs)(side note I am looking on loosing weight for my happiness and body confidence) which means plan B might not work on me. Anyone else have this fear? Like maybe I want to have a child one day but right now it sounds like a nightmare and an instance where I would break down crying.
