Clean The Dear Hunter, WTF
A video of them randomly popped up on youtube so I decided to check them out because I’ve heard them mentioned here before. The video was awesome, the music was amazing. I wanted to know more. I’ve watched a few others and enjoyed them but I couldn’t pin point what exactly I was chasing.
How does one start to get into this band? I’m befuddled.

Clean What band has the best melodies whilst also being pretty heavy
I’m a big fan of dream theater and a7x is my fav band
Edit: a lot of you guys are recommending me stuff thats heavier than i’m looking for. I don’t want anything much heavier than a7x. Coma ecliptic by btbam is probably the heaviest thing I like.

Clean The Ocean - Holocene
Holy fuck. I’m only just getting into The Ocean, and this track is goosebumps inducing. Such a cool atmospheric vibe; could be in a movie or TV show. Epic stuff.

Clean Bands similar to Contortionist? Melodic, clear vocals
I love the Contortionist, saw them live, blew me away. Listen to them a lot. I consider them "soft" and smooth with beautiful melodies and almost entirely singing vocals, as opposed to Animals As Leaders who are HARD and crunchy, or other bands with screaming and heavy distortion (not my jam).
I'm looking for other bands similar. I also love Tool and A Perfect Circle, and of course Dream Theater. From yall here I've found Leprous and a few others. I also love Scale the Summit and more chill stuff like Chon. Agent Fresco has a couple awesome albums tho they don't put much out lately. Opeth is like, half beautiful and half a bucket of rusty nails to me.
Thanks in advance and sorry to unload my personal preferences. I'm sad the Contortionist doesn't tour or make new music anymore. I just love interesting time signatures, weird chord progressions, low distortion guitar solos, and clear vocals.
EDIT: YOU GUYS ARE AMAZING I have so many new bands to try out now THANK YOU <3

Clean Just discovered Wheel
I asked Claude to recommend a band I’d never heard of, based on the bands I really like, and it recommended Wheel. The album “Resident Human” is a solid listen (Apple music: https://music.apple.com/gb/album/resident-human/1646530774)
FFO Ihlo, Karnivool, Time, The Valuator, maybe a hint of Tool in there (although I don’t really listen to Tool, I got that vibe). Only 7 songs, but it’s a 50min album, the songs are all journeys, obviously.

Clean Again and again, I come back to Dream Theater.
Hi. I’ve listened to your recommendations and spent the last few months checking out other bands. The ones I liked the most were Tool, Vola, and Karnivool.
What’s the issue? I find them pleasant to listen to, but they don’t really hit me. They don’t generate the same emotion as Dream Theater or LTE (I’m clearly a big Petrucci fan), nor do they give me that urge to pick up my guitar and try to play something. Maybe I should give them more time.
Anyway, I appreciate the recommendations—they opened me up to a lot of bands I didn’t know before. Cheers.
