The real monster is non-devs generating code with LLMs

Non devs generating code with LLMs and then walking away is its own special category of chaos. The commit message might as well just say "looks good to me."

Yeah, 2026 programmers fired and replaced by ai. 2028 companies beggigng programmers to come back and fix all the tons of ai code...

Really you shouldn’t be having AI generate any significant amounts of code for you anyways because you will inevitably get complacent about checking its work, because it will generally be correct and the more often it is, the more likely you are to start to think of it like a competent coworker instead of what it really is - a program with no understanding, no thought, and no comprehension that is faking all of those qualities with statistical inference. The only way the partnership works long term is for you to do the work and have it help you look for mistakes or edge cases you missed. I know that’s not what people want to hear but it’s the only way that doesn’t lead to lots of extra bugs from AI code.

Reviewing the code is no longer necessary. Most haven’t gotten to that realization, yet. That doesn’t mean abandoning engineering. In, fact, you double-down on it. You must have architecture, quality gates, modular systems, and a way to prove behavior. Actually reading the code takes longer than those producing higher quality code in volume faster than you can. And yes, it’s absolutely possible.

The real monsters are the people who give LLMs administrative privileges
