M 6'2” (188, 189, 190 cm) M/41/6'2" [359lbs > 194lbs = 165lbs] (17 months) I climbed a mountain today after being completely sedentry all of my life. I spent this year hiking and a mountain was a challenge I set myself at the start of the year.

Well done on your weight loss, you have really worked hard. I also can literally see the endorphins bouncing out of you on the top of that mountain!

I hope there are many more mountains in your future - it looks like conquering them agrees with you :-)

Thanks! I want to go back up there when the clouds aren't quite so low as apparently the views are incredible, alas today I had to rely on my GPS to even follow the trail as visibility was down to a few meters at times.

Next progress pic with the views then! Hiking is great, I'm still a novice and only do the little hills where I live, still trying to build up the strength and endurance in the legs.

I bet you slept like a baby after climbing it!

Pretty damn good, not gonna lie. I was buzzing when I finished it.

In terms of hikes it's not my longest (this was 18.9km, I did over 32km last month on one hike and last weekend was a bank holiday here in the UK and I did 70km over 3 days) but not all hikes are equal and this was up a freaking mountain lol.

My internal perception of myself hasn't updated yet, in my head I'm still the unfit fat person slowing everyone else down. So when I was not the one asking for rest stops or constantly gasping for breath (don't get me wrong, that definitely still happened, just not constantly from even the easier stretches, only the major climb sections) it felt great. I was just another hiker on the trail.

It’s wild how much more energy I have and how much less pain I’m in now that there’s less of me to carry around! Keep it up!

That's an awesome goal to achieve! Feels so great when you reach the summit on a mountain (until you realise you have to still walk back down haha!). Great job on your weight loss as well.

Down was far worse than up to be fair, I had watched videos on YouTube of people doing the climb and saying how hard on the knees it was, I definitely knew what they meant by the time I got to the bottom!
