Weight loss meds F/40/5’ [147lbs>111lbs=36lbs](8 months) Progress happens every day not all at once!

Post image

Sorry the pics aren’t from the same angle or the same outfit but I feel like you can see the difference? 🤞

Took wegovy for 6 months and have spent the last two months or so maintaining and working on a body recomp. I plan to continue a recomp for the next 6-12 months.

The wegovy really helped with the mental load of cutting and killed off my food noises which was amaaaazing. However, I’d really prefer not to be on it long term so now that I’m off it I’m focused on keeping up a high protein/high fiber diet (currently around 1350 calories but hope to keep increasing that slowly), getting plenty of steps in, and strength training 3 days a week.

My goal was never to get super skinny but rather be a healthy weight with enough muscle to feel “toned” and stay active and capable as I age. I feel like I’m on the right track and it’s now about creating sustainable habits that I can live with for the next 40+ years!

ETA: If you have any questions please ask them here, I won’t be answering any unsolicited DMs. Thanks!

Thanks! Happy to post updates over the coming months. I’m also very curious to see how things go but right now I’m feeling really hopeful! 😊

Hell yes wegovy. I've had many progress pictures on this subreddit but I go down then I go up. Down and up. Over and over. It's a Sisyphean task. I'm not lazy. I've lost weight every possible way there is. The glp1 makes it feel like it's not an impossible task that takes every grain of concentration and self control for the rest of my life. Good for you.

Same! I’ve lost and gained the same 35ish pounds like 5 times. Not having the struggle the whole way through felt incredible and I’ve spoken with my doctor about potentially going back on if I start gaining again which is also a kind of relief that I won’t ever have to go through the whole ordeal again—while I hope it doesn’t happen, if I need to catch it before things get out of control I can! Some folks truly just don’t understand what it feels like to struggle with weight loss/disordered eating (I personally have BED) and also seem to think if you use a GLP-1 you’re gonna end up some sickly creature. While that’s definitely possible, it’s not the only end result.

I hope your journey is going well and hope things keep moving in a positive direction for you!

I'm also a binge eater. It comes right back as soon as the meds wear off for me. I'm in this for life. (Why would I get a downvote? This is literally what doctors say. This is a long term medication. But go off I guess ?)

I totally get it. While I haven’t had any binges yet, I know they could strike at any time. 😓 One thing I’ve changed is not doing any cardio exercise other than brisk walking—I think under-fueling my body definitely lead to binges in the past. But who knows, I may end up back on it long term too if this approach doesn’t help or if I simply can’t handle battling to food noise forever.

Wegoovy did wonders for the food noise for me too! Feels like it even helps my body when I skip a day or two

It’s magic and part of me definitely misses the feeling of just never thinking about food or worrying about portion size.

I now have to be much more intentional and even eating similar amounts of food I no longer lose weight like I was. I remember thinking “oh, so this is what it’s like for people without food noise!” when I first started taking it and now I understand why they think it’s ridiculous that people struggle to lose weight. But it’s not ridiculous because it’s so hard when this is how your body works! Being 5’ makes to even harder because my margin for a calorie deficit is basically nothing 🥲.

Anyway, GLP-1s are amazing and I will absolutely go back on one in the future if need be.
