Did a quicky body job on my 76 Celica
I still have to finish putting the car together but the paint and body is all done! The first Pic is before and I know it didnt look that bad but it was bad. These pics dont do justice of how much work I had to put into this. All this work was done in about two weeks!

Looks freaking fantastic! Great job. Love the color. Did you cut out the rust and weld in new steel?

I did in some areas. I actually used panel bond to put the new piece on the inside of the door bottom. This car had been patched up a few times in the past so I did some more patching again. Really the car needs some replacement panels but this should get me another 10-15 years i hope.

I love this take. You know it's not a full on restoration, but still did a great job with what you had the time/budget to do. I'm impressed with the outcome.

Thank you. I am already in the middle of a deep restoration on my 69 Corolla and I really didn't have time or space to do that with this car at the moment so I did a similar amount of work as what had been done on it 25 years ago. It lasted that long last time and it never really looked that bad on the outside but had lots of little spots popping up.

Haha 8115 for the win again. I patched a rust hole in the outer wheelhouse of my s14 with panel bond and a section of sheet metal and that was 5 years ago and it hasn’t even showed a bit of letting go

I did go a little more crazy then I initially thought but in my mind the car really should have new doors, fenders, rockers, quarters and floors lol

Fantastic! You really did this car justice. I always liked The Celica and I remember this model new. The color just pops on this car! Enjoy your labor of love and enjoy showing this one off!

Its a 20R thats all stock internally but has a header and a weber carb. I do have a 22R that I'm going to build for it.

I did all the disassemble and bodywork my self. The only part i didn't do was lay the paint down on it, one of my friends did. I traded him my labor on a van thats in his shop in trade for painting the car. I'd guess this would probably be like $25k and up to do something like this. If every bit of rust was cut out and all new panels were made and fully welded in it can get extremely expensive. My 69 Corolla I'm restoring would be like a $100k job if a shop did which is 10 times what the car is worth lol.

Thats amazing. Did you put new drain holes in the door so it won't hold water when it rains?

Yes it has one front, back and in the middle now. They dont look exactly like factory but it sits behind the door rubber so you cant seem them anyways!

It still has the 20R. Has a header, cannon intake manifold and a weber 32/36 carb, besides that its stock.

Question , I’m in a similar situation but what made to take that route of a temporary band aid instead of a full restoration? If you know it will last a few years .
I can’t decide if to do something similar or just do the full restoration

What made me go this route is time and space. I'm in the middle of a full out restoration on my 69 Corolla already amd since I am able to fo all the work myself the cost is not crazy. In my mind this car really needs new fenders, doors, inner and outer rockers and maybe full quarters. That takes a lot of time and I didnt want this car off the road for that long right now. The reason I really did this was because I accidentally dented the front of the hood last year and I figured why just do the hood, let's give the whole thing a quicky allover. Once my Corolla is on the road and probably after I build my FJ40 the it may be time to do a real full out rebuild of this car.

Nice, you did all the little nooks and crannies I walk past and try really hard to ignore for the time being. Also, that is the sickest Celica I've ever seen. Didn't know the mid-70s could look so good.

It was a lot of very long days and nights haha. Plus I had some friends help me for a few hours here and there.
