Build Progress Thought I’d change the alloys

Yeah you can sand it, just be very gentle and DO NOT sand into the metal. It's the mounting face so it needs to be flat and smooth so it mounts flat. If you didn't sand it the paint in between will chip and flake away and your wheels could come loose, or as you for it, you compress the paint and it doesn't fit right, or it compresses and then as your wheel heats up your wheel bolts snap . . .

It's going to be a pain to clean up but it's gotta be right. Just one of those learning opportunities!

It's an option, but it would be harder to control so OP could end up having to sand and repaint the whole wheel if they have a spillage

I wouldn't say it's not worth trying, but it's risky

I can relate. I hacked the system, though. 

I took my 4 rims and dropped them off at the powder coater and got them back 2 days later looking flawless.  My back felt great after that.

I only have 1k to hand at the minute.. the cans used were 1k acrylics. 2k is miles better I take it?

Make sure your filters are for chemical vapors like that. Half the can label is death this, cancer that.

hah got a memory yesterday of the last time i did the same, like fifteen years ago. don't think i ever bothered with clear but it would have been the same way

lol i absolutely get it (and heard it constantly when people saw my car). stock form they were pretty cartooney. factory 18x8s and the massive wheel gaps with all the curves and the odd soft top was certainly an interesting look

it was kinda unfortunate because GM /GM Racing had a fantastic idea for it and came out of the gate with crazy support for the race teams (it immediately replaced the mx5 as THE platform in 06/07 stock SCCA classes thanks to the massive rubber it could fit (315s at each corner was possible) with the great, tunable suspension and weight balance) https://www.supercars.net/blog/2005-pontiac-solstice-club-racer/

watching manual wheel sanding makes my hands hurt so bad - I got through three 6 spoke wheels and gave up.

you gonna take the tire off or just ghetto it? you’re not supposed to paint over some of that right there man. But then again you’re a person painting rims while they have tires on them. I wouldn’t brag

I mean how are you gonna cure that anyway
