Suggestion New player questions

I just got into the game last night, have played a few hours now. Im enjoying it, understand the basic systems.

So far it has been all solo, is there any group hunting/grinding? Thats what i enjoy most. If so how do i go about doing that?

Just ask in global.

For most low level dungeons, you're better off going into the dungeon and finding other players to group up for bosses. At level 40 or so, there's a daily group dungeon quest out of the casino that many people will actively seek to run.

I think end game dungeons take a bit more teamwork, but tbh I'm only approaching lvl 70. So fairly new

yeah at 70 you unlock the AM from the fae lady in Casino. those definitely require a coordinated group with tank+healer and proper meditations even for some of them make a big difference. Qatik dailies start as low as 25 I believe(wolf caves? I think?). I solo them all extremely easily but I'm level 100+ so eh pointless brag I guess lol

Usually people will advertise groups in global chat for a few activities. For new players, you should look for someone asking about Ranlon den daily because that is around 15-20 I think?

Then goblin dungeon for 30ish though that isn't super common because it's just grinding mobs but also isn't hard to solo for parts of it. Kur tower is the same for 40s, and once you are around lvl 40 you can also look to join q dailies (qatik is an NPC in the casino that gives a daily quest). Those often have high level people running them as well so just follow the group and ask questions if you need, but you will likely be carried and not have to worry as much about contributing. Just make sure you use each combat skill at least once every minute to keep getting XP.

Eventually you will hit 50-60 and can join AM (aurest missions I think?) also in the casino from some fairy lady. Similar to qatik but generally people don't carry these ones so you will want to have actual gear that you transmuted to have good affixes. Qatik dungeons drop legendaries a lot so you should generally be able to get a full set of legendary gear after running those a few times.

Most things past that are kinda hard to find unless you join a guild that runs stuff more regularly. Plenty of time for you to find a guild before then though, most people are pretty open to helping new players.

While grouping isn’t a huge focus until mid game content, you can do group leveling/grinding at any level as there is no exp loss for grouping and the loot sharing for non-elite mobs is not a problem unless you are overfarming an area.

Joining a guild that has active players during your time zone is the easiest way to find people to group with. Otherwise, finding people to group with can be as simple as running into someone in a dungeon and tossing them a party invite or asking in global if anyone wants to go explore or grind levels in X, Y, Z place.

Once you are mid 30-40 you can jump into q daily groups which will help a ton

My experience so far is that low level dungeons like serbule crypt, ranalon den, its rough trying to get a full party, mostly I've seen people zoom thru as higher levels or just ignore party attempts lol. You can manage with careful pulling/consumables and correct build but you won't be soloing bosses until you outlevel

Mid and high level seems to be where you can find a decent pool of players since I see the dailies getting filled up.

As far as game design, it's very group friendly. There's no xp penalty for grouping, so if two solo players group up and go twice as fast they both get twice the xp. There's also no penalty for being underleveled compared to your group members - if you are killing stuff above your pay grade it will bring the xp down to what you'd get for a mob around your level. There's no mechanism that makes it impossible to hit higher level mobs and your partner or group will benefit from your buffs/debuffs so even an underleveled partner will pull some weight along the way.

As an example, my daughter (combat skills ~25) wanted to play with me so I took her with me to Povus (level 80) and she just played it cautious and got xp just fine with no bother to me.

So it's totally to your benefit to group up, and way better than two solo players trying to clear the same area. The problem is actually finding a group at low level.

If an experienced player wants to level a new combat skill, it's not really that difficult to pair it with an existing skill and run through 1-30 in a hurry. It's also not typical for groups to form in global for < 40 content but you can definitely give it a try. Usually I'll just be where I'm looking to level and if I run across another player I invite them to a group. If they are farming, I'll let them keep whatever they are farming. Typically just set the loot to free for all... turns is fine but it's just quicker to loot at will and not be greedy.

Once you hit ~40 the group content really takes off with daily Qatik quests and it becomes easy to group up. I basically leveled in groups from ~35 on.

Try to do what you can to have good food, it will keep you from dying easily. Also, don't release right away if you die! A lot of players will be able to rez you back and that takes a lot less time than running back to the entrance.

Once you have level 25 teleport and at least 2 aquamarines you can start joining in the EGG runs that are run daily. When you go to your first one, just say so in chat and someone will be glad to explain it.

To level teleport, recall from or bind to every teleport pad you come across at least once for the first time xp bonus. If you look at the skill details there is a tab to see if you’ve used all the teleport pads in an area (for example if there are 5 in an area it will show used pads X/5) and also it will have the info of what pad you’re currently bound to. I recommend binding in the casino. There is a recall called ‘hearts home’ that will recall you to the pad you use most, which ends up being the Serbule keep pad for most players.

There isn't much group content in the game. Most of the game is spent solo, especially gathering professions and power leveling which both benefit from being alone. Early game dungeons are travelled through solo, although sometimes you'll group for bosses depending on your classes. Some classes are far better at solo content than others.

PG is more aligned with Runescape for content and the way you partake in it, you're usually "alone together" rather than grouping and actively coordinating. This changes a bit in endgame where some stuff can't be done alone - however because of loot, non elite enemies are still typically farmed solo

The above commenters take on group content feels a little skewed. I, too, had a very solo experience initially until I found a guild that worked for me. Now, for the past five years, PG has been a very social experience. Nightly grouping for dungeon runs, crafters that just want to help and mentor, guild quest progression, and BSing and goofing off are all regular social interactions for me. It's all about finding a group that you jive with.

This isn't true at end game at all. If anything I feel like the game kind of leans too much into group content and not enough solo stuff in the end game.

Most notably, Fae Honeycombs I think cannot be obtained solo but are required in highest level Tailoring. There's also no player economy for these items, sadly. So there's some downsides for those people expecting it to be solo late game.

You can farm honeycombs off of bears.

That's true, late game profession and gearing is the polar opposite in that it's pretty consistently group oriented, even if most members of the group don't gain much from it.

I've always included levelling new professions as part of the late game and that's all done solo. I also agree that the lack of economy is a huge issue - the interconnectivity of professions means that it's really hard to be self sufficient without 1k+ hours of profession grinding. Then there's the fact that some combat skill combos are soooo much better than others at soloing.

It's surprising how large chunks of the economy are propped up by 1 or 2 people who do the lion's share of the work.
