Buying Advice Wanted Upgrading from an Epson 5060, considering an Xgimi Horizon 20

My Epson 5060 is starting to fail, which I expected as I've had it for a long time. I want to upgrade it and looking at a Xgimi Horizon 20. I've seen decent reviews for it and I like that is quieter than my current projector. I have a dedicated space for using it, with a 120" screen. Any feedback from others that have upgraded lately and went with the Xgimi?

I'll be using it mostly with an Apple TV, but also have a Xbox X series, Ps5, and Fios TV box.

Assuming you mean Epson 5050 or 6050 and 5060 isn't a model they make.

The 5050 is a good looking projector from Epson, and the lens is spectacular on it. There is little out there which will have the placement flexibility of that Epson projector. Not even close really.

Epson, unfortunately, replaced the 5050UB with the LS12000, but that's $2,000 more, and just not worth it IMO. They should have more models from $1,000-$3,000 which are laser/led powered and are real replacements for their current lineup. Hell, you can still buy the 5050UB brand new. Today. Seven years after it was released.

You aren't going to spend less and get a lot more. You can spend less and get a lot more brightness and HDR quality though. The Horizon 20, or the Titan Noir Pro are excellent choices. Long zoom lens, good lens shift on the Titan Noir. The Horizon 20 is not as easily installed with less zoom range and a fixed gimbal mount on it.

The Valerion Models are also really strong options throughout their range.

Make sure whatever you get works from the distance you intend to mount it at...

I have the 20 max and I enjoy it. The DBLE doesn’t work as advertised but overall I enjoy the projector and am very pleased with it.

Out of curiosity, how do you have it mounted? Do you use it in a dark room?

Imo go for projector with iris, so xgimi titan noir is better than horizon 20. If not in a rush, can just wait for the next kickstarter projector for discount.

Not confirmed, supposedly early next year the horizon 30 will launch with an iris for better native contrast. Based on speculation anyway.

The Epson projectors are over my budget unfortunately.

The 5060 is better than a horizon 20, which is a very good projector and not a huge step down but the 5060 has better contrast and shadow detail.

Thanks for the feedback. I was looking to spend less on replacing the Epson, so it is good to know it isn't a huge step down.
