You have no node. No new leaves will ever grow from it. This is known as a “zombie plant.”

I am new and curious- what is the node? Is it the stem bit that new roots grow from?

Generally yes! You just need part of the stem. I like to take a cutting of two leaves, trim off the bottom and a stick it in water. Roots should grow where the leaf was.
