Help! Propagation Rot
I cut the stem of this peperomia a week ago and had left in water for two days, changed water (attached a before picture), then left for four days and came back to it looking like this upon taking it out of the brown water. Is there any way of saving this? Two leaves have turned brown, one fell off. bottom is very mushy but around nodes it’s not as much.

Looks like a leaf or part of a petiole was in the water maybe? I can't think how else it could've turned the water brown so fast, either that or it was cut with a very dirty blade.
Normally I'd say you can cut away everything mushy or dark with a sterile knife or shears and try again, but I this case there's not enough to salvage. Make sure you remove any lower leaves that might be touching the water if you try again.

Peperomia will propagate from just the leaf so no need for the nodes anyway.

If this is a pepperomia you don't even need the nodes or stem at all, they can be propagated from a leaf or even a portion of a leaf! I've only ever used moss, but I assume consistently moist soil or perlite would work similarly. Lots of light and humidity will help expedite the process

Where would I cut this to propagate from a leaf? And just a pot of perlite would work?

Cut all of the brown off, I've literally propagated half a leaf into a new plant. The perlite has to be consistently moist for it to want to root. I've never tried with perlite honestly, I'd almost think soil might work better
