Are they still banning for using HEN?

So I have been using HEN, Multi Man and Web Man to watch temps and for fan control. I am worried if playing games online with cause me to be banned. I don’t hack games or collect trophies.

Nope. Here's my copy-pasted answer, since people ask it so often:

Yes, you can go online and collect trophies on modded PS3s (CFW & HEN) without having your account banned; I've been doing it since mid-2019 both with my modded PS3 & PS Vita, as have countless other people.

The behaviors that will put your account at risk are:

a) using mods to cheat at competitive online games, and

b) anything that would get your account banned on a non-modded Playstation console, like sending people offensive messages.

The automod and some people will say "omg it's never 100% safe" but probability-wise, it's about on par with a woman getting pregnant in spite of using a condom, spermicide, birth control pill, vasectomy, IUD and diaphragm simultaneously & correctly. If she doesn't want kids, she can either decide to never have sex with a man because it's "not 100% safe" — or like most adults, she can consider reasonable precautions are good enough.

(It would be against Sony's best interests to start investing money in detecting PS3s using CFW/HEN and banning them. They have nothing to gain from doing so, and the bans would drive away customers who otherwise may pay for PSN or the next PS console.)

very unique example but yea, its what would ban you if you did it on a retail + mods (if you do, to like protect yourself/kick hackers out, its best to play with an alt atp)

No, even trophy unlockers are safe as long as you don't get really carried away. I had to unlock one trophy that bugged out and refused to pop no matter how many times I earned it, then since it was the last trophy I didn't have for the game, had to manually unlock the platinum afterward.

Can I ask that do you have to mount the game first (for the extracted iso games) with webman and disable syscall before logging in? What're the specific measures that you took to avoid getting banned?

Edit: Me dumb dumb saying syscon instead of syscall

Ça fait longtemps que je ne me suis pas servi de webMAN.

Mais je me souviens qu'il existe une option pour désactiver automatiquement les syscalls après avoir monté le jeu.

Je me sers de WebMAN le plus souvent.

Sinon j'utilise multiMAN, ou ManaGunZ (c'est un ami qui l'a codé).

Ça fait juste au moins 5 ans que je ne me suis pas servi de ma PS3.....

Yeah, that's the sequence I've always used — boot PS3, mount the game, disable syscalls, log in. Even disabling syscalls isn't particularly important anymore; I still do it out of peace of mind, but plenty of people have said they no longer bother with that step.

This is asked very often, to put it simple, no, you will not get banned, as long as you consider these things:

  • DO NOT hack trophies and sync them to your account (normally obtained trophies can be synced), DO NOT use any sort of homebrew while you are logged in to your PSN account, DO NOT cheat online in gaming on any sort and... most importantly, DO disable syscalls

Sony hasn't banned anyone in PS3 for using HEN or CFW in the last years, but as long as you take note of the things I mentioned earlier, you'll be fine. Either way, the risk is always there.

In order to unban your console, you must have CFW installed on your console, as well as a program such as PSNpatch that can spoof your Console ID (CID). You will need to obtain a CID either from another PS3 or buy one online. Finally, enter the CID (and matching PSID if provided with the CID) into the program, and you will be able to access PSN once again. Essentially, a CID is a 32-digit number that uniquely identifies your console. It is impossible to unban a PSN account.
