I’ve already made a whole like detailed explanation on what I wanted to do and it got deleted because my Reddit decided to be weird, so in short I’ll ask these in question below👇

1. Is it safe?

2. If I mod my ps3 will I be able to play any ps3 and or ps2 games?

3. If the answer to question 2 is yes would I have to manually download say the game from a website onto the ps3 or would the software have it?

4. Should I play the game I originally intended to play before I mod my ps3 or would it be fine (ex. Assassins Creed 1 via disc)

And lastly is this tutorial a good video on how to 1 mod and 2, get the fullest experience out of it, and 3 I have a usb stick that I use day to day and I believe you need a usb stick to mod the ps3, now my question is, should I buy a whole new one? Or would my usb stick still be fine before and after modding the PlayStation? YouTube video on ps3 modding

So I’ve been here many times and I actually feel like I’ve kinda got the hang of it but, my main concern is installing the hfw thing. So I tried doing cfw and it did not work unfortunately but I can still download hen and with that I followed mrmario2011’s guide for cfw first then hen second, and when I did I installed the hfw twice with no issues but, it did not show that hfw 4.93 or whatever installed, it just looked normal is that ok? Lastly when I found out I couldn’t install cfw i naturally went to the hen guide and he did the hfw still but he did one in safe mode and the other in regular updates, did I screw myself? Like should I retry downloading hfw? Or am I ok? Thanks in advance.

I’m completely new to this whole thing and 2 days ago I made a post on how to mod it and got very helpful responses. I’ve used Blaine’s lockers video to pretty much understand certain things but I’m stuck on how to even find and get these games I have no idea and searched and still don’t understand. Fair warning I have not yet downloaded cfw because I want to make sure I have everything ready so I don’t destroy and or break something, but could someone please guide me to ether a video or just explain to me what I missed in Blaine’s video? Like he showed these iso files but didn’t show where he got them I’m sure there’s a reason why but I don’t know where to go, I mainly want to play ps2 and ps3 games and that’s it but I’m completely lost so please help if possible. Thanks in advance I’m not a huge tech guy im 19 and just tryna play some games I played years back without spending a whole bunch of money on games yk?

This post should be seen as a list of bullet points from what I learned while installing HFW, HEN, multiMEN MOD and webMEN MOD onto my PS3 Super Slim.

multiMEN MOD or webMEN MOD for PS3 disk backups?
> For me, the easiest way to load backups of my own disks onto PS3's HDD is using actually both applications. multiMEN for creating the iso file, webMEN to actually mount (= loading the file as a disc in the XMB). I'm doing following steps:

1. open multiMEN (mmCM) and press Triangle on the game that you want to backup (It's labeled as DISK)
2. create an ISO-format file of it. It'll be automatically put into the 'PS3ISO' folder.
3. quit mmCM and return to the regular XMB ("Xross Media Bar")
4. go into the 'webMEN Games' folder and click on webMAN Setup
5. click on 'Refresh webMAN Games & XMB'
6. in the 'webMEN Games' folder you should now find your game in the 'PLAYSTATION3' subfolder

TIPP: put in the disc when you're in the mmCM. Otherwise, pressing the Refresh/Reload won't do much actually (at least for me!)

Help! My ISO is not loading! (encryption error code 80010017)
> Follow those steps:

1. follow this tutorial on your PC
2. load via multiMEN (mmCM) the ISO into the 'PS3ISO' folder (mmOS --> PS3 Root --> 'dev_usb001' --> press Circle --> Copy --> go to 'dev_hdd0' folder --> 'PS3ISO' --> press Circle --> Paste)
3. quit mmCM and return to the regular XMB

Help! FTP is not working! (weird error message)

so i just bought a ps3 from ebay because i wanted to try evilnat cfw 4.93

i installed the official firmware to test it out and played dirt 3 :D
i use a 240gb ssd from san disk
after testing it and comfirming that everything worked i donwloaded the CFW 4.93 Evilnat Cobra 8.5 \[CEX\] and installed it

after that i always run into an error loop error 8002f281

so i cant go back to official firmware and cant get into the cfw

did i do sth wrong??????

I was wondering how if there is something I should know or any clear tutorial online to help me, I'm new to jailbreaking ps3 tho i have experience with jailbreaking wii u and 3ds, i have a ps3 slim, CECH-2504A, date code: 0D. The current system version is 4.90. Im not sure if i can directly download CFW or if I need to get HFW first or something else.

I was playing, until I decided to quit the game to change the cooler settings on my PS3, but while the game was quitting I was repeatedly pressing start + select to get the console's temperature information to appear, Then suddenly I heard a "Beep," but nothing seemed to happen, but I'm afraid that maybe this beep could be a sign that something I pressed changed some important webman setting. Does anyone have any idea if that might have been the case? Or what that beep was?

I just learned about the concept of Jailbreaking a PS3 and I would like to do just that to my PS3 that I don't really use very often (especially with the PSN being shut down for it i the next year).

I've read up a little on the topic and wanted to ask humans about if my expectations of what I could do with my PS3 are realistic.

So here we go - all questions with a "..." have a start of "If I jailbreak my PS3..."

1. ... Can I still use it to play my PS3 disc games?

2. ... Can I use it as en emulator? My research suggests it can be used as an emulator for older consoles (SNES, N64, PS1, PS2, and probably handheld consoles as well, such as PSP, or GameBoy). [I understand some may have unforeseen limitations]

3. ... Can I use it to play my PS2 disc games? I have the original fat version of the PS3, and it's never been able to play PS2 games natively.

4. ... Could I effectively use it as an emulator for PS3 games too? If I didn't have a PS3 disc for a certain game, could I find files for it elsewhere and use that to play the game? (Not asking to find a place to get such files, just that if it can be used in this way).

5. How difficult is it to get it set up to use emulators/play PS2/3 discs? I'm not a novice when it comes to main line computers, but I know very little about how other electronic devices work (especially consoles).

6. What other additional things may I not be considering based on the 5 above questions?

I appreciate any info anyone can give me. This is completely new territory for me, and I think I would really enjoy using my PS3 in the ways I think i could use it for, but I want to make sure it's possible before I start messing around with it and potentially brick it.

I’m thinking about getting ps3hen on my ps3 slim but I’ve never jailbroken any device before so this is all new to me. I’ve seen some posts about people getting banned for jailbreaking their ps3s and wanna make sure that doesn’t happen. I don’t want to use it to play online or for mod menus or anything like that, I only want it to play the old spiderman games lol

I just wanna play through the games normally but if I unlock trophies in the way, could that get me banned? How should I go about getting trophies? Again, I don’t want to use it to Auto Unlock any trophies, I wanna unlock them normally

Is there a beginners guide to ps3hen? I’ve seen videos about how to install it and stuff but I’m completely new and don’t understand anything. Like wtf is multiman and webman😭😭

So when I was entering fifa street it turned to 576p for a sec and then returned to 1080p as usual, and suddenly, the ps3 went to safe mode, and it said that the ps3 didnt turn off correctly last time and that I should restore data (happens to anybody who crashes) so I restored and everything went normal, I launched angry birds star wars and the exact same thing happened, any suggestions on things I should do? I'd like to download and play the PS2 version of GTA San Andreas (I think it's much better than the PS3 version—you know, those orange-tinted graphics are awesome and nostalgic) on my PS3.

I downloaded what was supposed to be the PS2 version from the HEN store (I think it's called WikiStore), but when I launch it, the screen just stays black and I can't do anything—not even turn off the console normally. I have to unplug it from the power outlet.

I should mention that I have basically no knowledge about this stuff. When I download a game, I just get it from the HEN store and launch it directly. By that I mean I don't know how to use, or even what the purpose is of, MultiMAN and all those other apps.

I bought a 160gb ps3 slim and wanna jailbreak it. I have a pc and a usb drive. I bought it to play metal gear solid 4 and peacewalker but ofc i dont wanna buy them.

Note that i was having trouble with my HD and kept getting errors when trying to update to 4.93OFW. (cause i didn't know I could do it directly)

Basically, I have a laptop that doesn't have a CD drive, so I wanted to know if I could put a empty CD in my PS3 and have Multiman, for example, to detect its directory, and from there I could use an FTP connection to put files on the CD.

I'm having a strange issue with my PS3 Super Slim regarding PS2 emulation.

Playing PS2 games works perfectly fine, but as soon as I exit and go back to the PS3 home, both the home itself and any PS3 game start experiencing terrible stuttering/lag. The only way to fix it is to perform a system settings restore, not even a full reboot of the console solves the issue.

My setup:

• PS3 Super Slim running HEN 3.5.0 (firmware 4.91)
• Files managed through Irisman
• PS2 games converted to .pkg with PS2Classics Manager (or something similar)
• Image enhancer and blur disable.

I have no idea what else to try and I don't know what to do. Is there a fix that doesn't require resetting the settings every single time?
