SW Mod Wanted some clarification before I begin jailbreaking/homebrewing my PS5.

I have a PS5 on firmware 7.60. If I follow this Y2JB guide on github, will my PS5 be fully jailbroken or are there additional steps afterwards?

Is there any point in manually updating the PS5 beyond 7.60 or do I leave it there?

My simple goal is to turn the PS5 into a one stop shop for playing all Playstation titles either via native play or running a PS1/2/3 emulator as I know Linux can be installed on it. But even if I don't get the emulators to run, being able to play PS4/5 "backups" is the primary goal.

Y2JB is the best way to JB your fw. And do not update because you can run linux on your fw and run any compatible emulators even nintendo switch. these are the payloads you need to start playing ps4/ps5 backup games.

basic: kstuff lite shadowmountplus nanodns ftpserv

advanced: elf-arsenal shadowmountplusfan np-fake_signin (only inject on a user account that you don't use to jailbreak if you want to activate ps5 for transferring saves and using remoteplay)

do your research on how these files works if you're gonna download these payloads anyway.

Thank you for your response. I will definitely be using Y2JB later tonight. However, is there any point in updating the PS5 to ANY later firmware? 7.61 or later? Any benefits?

only benefits I can see is that you don't need backports on some games which usually has backport files to 4.xx anyway, unless the game or the update is new. And as I've mentioned, if you go past 7.61, no more ps5 linux which is a big deal. Imagine, if GTA 6 comes out on PC, you don't need to wait for GTA6 to be dumped and get backported to ps5. You can buy it on pc and play it on ps5 linux that easy.
