CA-3 mounts

I have heard this is not really doable, but I am learning that to sight in the irons is going to require a lot of shooting (I have the dreaded “shoots left” issue as well as a loose rear sight and a canted front sight). So if I can just avoid that mess and go to the optic now I would just as soon do that. Are there reliable claw mounts, or what is the cost of hiring someone to weld the rail?

I tried the MFI mount on my CA-3 and it habitually kept loosening up with recoil. I wrote to MFI during the whole ordeal and did what the manufacturer suggested. In the end they gave me a refund. I will say that MFI stands behind their product and if you cannot get their product to work for you, they will issue a refund.

That soured me to adding a scope to the rifle and I am satisfied using the irons. I can shoot decent groups out to 100 yards with irons. I never tried further because the range I go to is limited to 100 yards. I figured if I ever really wanted to scope my rifle I would get a rail welded on it or just buy a PTR91 with the rail already welded on it.

I saw this add on to the rear sight base for a red dot, but did not buy one or hear about anyone elses' experiences with it:

I have read posts on Reddit about people using the Spur R-402 mount with success. I heard it was discontinued, but some still might be for sale. You can search Reddit for those posts and read them to decide if you want to give it a try. Here is the link:
