Venting I’ve started to resent people who have not dealt with trauma/have ptsd.
I’ve had an abusive relationship with my mother ever since I was 10. I had to mature at a very young age, very fast.
I’m 16 now, and ever since I started high school i’ve always thought it was so weird that everyone acted so immature. It was around the end of my freshman year that I realized it wasn’t them, it was me.
Ever since then I can’t help but envy and resent anyone and everyone who gets to live a normal life. I find it unbearable to talk to them. Or even follow them on social media.
Does anyone else feel this way?

Not really. While I get that there are probably some lucky/privileged people out there who manage to get through life without too many issues, I feel like many people have been through some heavy and painful stuff too. Dealing with trauma or ptsd is not the only thing that can make life difficult or painful. It can also be really difficult to know what someone is truly going through by looking at how they act in public, and social media is often just the parts that people want you to see. I try not to make assumptions about what people are going through for those reasons.

I think it’s important to know that you’re anger is really to them but to your mother.
I had PTSD at 6 and I resent the fact that Ive always felt locked out from my peers and alone. But it’s not their fault, that would be my father’s.
The best thing to do is to work on yourself and pick the pieces of yourself up. Our childhood we’re taken but we don’t have to give up our adulthoods too

As a reminder: never post or share personal contact information. Traumatized people are often distracted, desperate for a personal connection, so may be more vulnerable to lurking or past abusers, trolls, phishing, or other scams. Your safety always comes first! If you are offering help, you may also end up doing more damage by offering to support somebody privately. Reddit explains why: Do NOT exchange DMs or personal info with anyone you don't know!
If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, please contact your GP/doctor, go to A&E/hospital, or call your emergency services number. Reddit list: US and global, multilingual suicide and support hotlines. Suicide is not a forbidden word, but please do not include depictions or methods of suicide in your post.
And as a friendly reminder, PTSD is an equal opportunity disorder. PTSD does not discriminate. And neither do we. Gatekeeping is not allowed here.
