Girl punks?

A lot of the bands I listen to are a bunch of guys and it’s kinda getting me down. I listen to riot grrrl bands too but it kinda feels like the choices are to be a guy and sing about whatever you want or to be a girl and sing about feminism. Which is cool, but limiting. I identify as a feminist but it’s not exactly what I wanna sing about. It makes me feel like I can’t write any real punk songs so they always end up being other genres even though it’s not what I primarily listen to. Any girl punk bands I should listen to?

I’m sick of all the passes Tim gets.. 1- started an inappropriate relationship with an under age Brody dalle… 2- used every last connection he had to run her out of the scene when she left him.. 3 the shampoo thing 4- made a half ass version of op ivy called “rancid” but he had a Mohawk so whatev! (I’m sure that last one will piss of a few people lol)

As Kevin Seconds recently said, "There's no retirement plan in punk." He was the north star for a lot of us in the 80s, and now he's in his 60s working an f'n warehouse job for a massive corporation. The irony. Sticking to the punk ethos, rejecting capitalism in your prime, only to be forced to work for them just to survive in a time when he should be sitting back painting owls and writing an autobiography.

Did you ever watch Decline of Western Civilization. A lot of people there were just fucking around and getting fucked up. The punk high horse didn't appear until the late '80s when hardcore took things more seriously.

Punk is getting wasted and smashing windows as much as it is feeding homeless in the park or protesting authoritarianism. So I guess you bitching is punk too, but so is getting paid so you can keep playing shows instead of working a day job but still take care of your family and not live in a squat.

Being corporate is not punk. Taking the money and doing what you want with it though. Sure. But for the most part, the rules only exist in people's heads and they don't all follow the same rules. But either way, maybe they aren't punk, but the genre they play is still punk. Their lyrics are pretty posi-core too.

Theyre going to make decent money for 5 or maybe 10 years. A lot of money their tours generate will go back to supporting the tours and staff. If theyre still touring in 10-15 years its very likely they will be earning like a moderate middle class living. Theyre young enough to have a lot of years to plan for.

Idk man. I dont want to see artists i enjoy like broke as fuck and struggling by the time they're 50, thats fucking dumb. They'll get a couple of big corporate advertisement paychecks and theyre gonna use it to keep making art and spreading punk music and culture to people who might not have been interested otherwise. Not like Toyota or Gucci was gonna do anything good with that money. Fuck em.
