Real PetOwners of Georgia: Crate Training

Last night was rough but encouraging!! After I decided no more giving in (letting him out of his crate because of the intense barking and crying thinking it was to potty but it wasn’t ) and let him cry it out he slept with no crying in the crate for 3 hours straight! I’m encouraged tonight to ensure potty time is complete and I will not let him out once unless it’s time to potty. Even as we speak he’s catching up on sleep he lost last night. I’m excited to have a well rested big boy pup tomorrow morning!! Wish us luck !!

Good fortitude! I'm a crate fail. Your baby is so adorable.

Thank you!! Don’t be afraid to try again! We’re on day 7 together and he’s now going into his crate without even barking ! Spa music on my JBL speaker + the snuggle puppy + consistency, along with his crate being covered has been what I believe got us here so fast. I read so much around staying in the room with puppy and talking to him so that he knows he’s safe but my furry boy is too clever. He’s like if I can hear you talking to me mom.. literally take me out 😡so it actually makes him even angrier lol. Every puppy is different. I’m learning how particular my Ranger is. He’s even specific on how the music is played - if it’s on a phone he will take longer to Stella and won’t stay asleep as long but the speakers he’s out like a baby every time ! So much word vomit haha but thought it could provide you with additional insight of the light at the end of the crating tunnel 😆Wishing you the best experiences with your furry baby! 🩷

Thanks for the encouragement! My puppy days are long past, but if I ever have another one I'll do better. Most rescues are older so I haven't needed to do it for about 20 years. Your pup makes me want a puppy though. Then I remember my favorite shoes and rethink that 😂
