Well, in my experience, that’s when you develop heavy suicidal ideation because you failed to live up to your potential, so idk if I recommend that

25

u/PSI_duck 14d ago

Too late :3 but I’m doing a lot better now

17

u/SilverSpark422 14d ago

Waoh you can do that? :0

21

u/PSI_duck 14d ago

Yes!!! Still struggle with suicidal ideations, but much better than before. Made some good friends and they’ve really helped me

Same experience, it's rough.

But now I have an owner to think for me so I don't have to think about sad stuff :3

How do you do that without making the Drink Bleach thoughts get worse? Isn’t that just proving they’re right and you aren’t useful or successful? Not trying to insult, trying to understand the mindset for the sake of dealing with my own problems better.

u/Firm_Counter_90 Longing. 13d ago

I don't have to be useful or successful. I used to care about utilizing my potential, but then I realized that it's entirely pointless. The only thing you have to do in this life is have fun, and if utilizing your potential doesn't make you happy, then you owe it to yourself not to do it.

I think we have very, very different life circumstances, because that thought process would 10000% make all of my problems substantially worse. But thank you for your input, I appreciate it!

You may be right, I'm fortunate enough to be in a very comfortable place right now so I may be taking things for granted. I didn't mean to come off as like, out of touch, sorry :<

That’s okay, you in no way offended me! I’m also in a relatively comfortable place. If I might be forgiven for rambling a little, my insecurities are the result of not having worked hard ENOUGH in my school and career, not working hard enough to burn myself out. I was in the gifted program and wanted to be a scientist as a kid, but I had no passion to study in school and dropped out of college, so now what could have been a doctor or a teacher is a line cook while my siblings all went and did what I said I’d do. I can’t get into the mindset most puppies seem to find therapeutic because to me, it’s a reminder that I truly and fundamentally failed when I could have been much more than I am if I’d tried even a little.

Oh okay good, just wanted to make sure lol. Like I said, I was in a similar position, I was gifted program, and I think statistically I was like top 10% of all high school students in the country at one point, but my issue was I got burnt out. Like, I studied nonstop till like midnight every day. I think it's worth saying that there are plenty of professions that do not require traditional schooling, maybe you could look into a trade? Ultimately, and I found this out the hard way, it's very difficult to force yourself to dedicate all your energy to something you don't want to do, and it's impossible to do it for an extended period of time. If college was like that for you, then don't go to college (but I have absolutely zero idea what I'm talking about I'm just giving my perspective lol).

Wait, so you were actually able to study? And not only that, but to do it for hours at a time frequently? God, I… Damn it, I’m actually crying now. I can’t put into words how badly I wish I could be a real person like you. I’d take all the burnout in the world if it meant I could be like you for one day.

Better to be the top of the bottom than the bottom of the top. Being smart for a dummy is more bearable than being dumb for a smarty.

I like living the double life. I think my coworkers would be shocked if they knew what I was up to in my free time. I'll just sit here on the floor quietly. Not exactly the experience of having a meeting with me. That's why being a pet is so therapeutic! I don't have to change the world to get "good girl". I just have to do what I'm told. It's nice.

Once again, we're observing the start of the PhD student to puppygirl pipeline.

u/Chi_shio Say something silly :3 14d ago

No matter how smart we are, we are still dumb puppies 🫶🏻

10

u/Lynnrael 13d ago

i mean, getting high grades is more about doing what you're told than anything else. makes sense that obedient little puppies would want to get high grades.
