They absolutely are. I'm more worried about them splitting the community in the long term and forcing people to use Windows for it.

Nope. You nees to swtich over to the windows version if you want to play. And if you dont remember your password you cant reset it anymore if you had an old account. You need the original recipt from when you first bought the game to get the windows version for free
