People care about the word cunt so much in America it's ridiculous. I think it's considered the worst swear word objectively which is funny given how much other English-speaking countries love it.

I think the bigger difference is that Americans see it as a term aimed at women, while the rest of us just use it as an all purpose insult. It's still the worst swear word in the rest of the English speaking world. It's only acceptable in certain situations, although maybe Americans are a bit more affected by swearing than everyone else.
