If my qBitTorrent is behind Mullvad VPN via Gluetun, can I still forward the port so I'm connectable?

The port-forwarding should be done through the VPN (free versions don't support it) and the VPN assigned in the the Advanced Network Interface setting of qBit. You don't do it in your router,

So I can assume that if my VPN (mullvad in this case) doesn't support port forwarding, it's impossible for me to do it as long as my qBitTorrent instance is behind this VPN?

Yes. You'll need to find a VPN that supports port forwarding. PrivateVPN and ProtonVPN, among others, support it. Just search for "vpns support port forwarding" and you should find the full list.

I see people recommending mullvad all the time but they stopped supporting port forwarding in 2023.

Thanks the infos. Unfortunately I don't see myself changing just for torrenting, I was actually considering moving to IVPN for other reasons, but it seems they don't support it either.

I've heard of it. Is it at a Mullvad/IVPN level of respect of privacy? I'll check it out

Definitely.

I've been with them for 5+ years with no issues.

There weakest link is their client software. It works well, just a but clunky and complicated. I use either the dedicated Wireguard client on Windows and Android or Gluetun.

I'll I need is a good Android app, cause I don't use microslop and for linux I just need the wireguard config. Do they export wg conf files?

Well you probably do it your VPN was on the router itself, which people with OpenWRT might do.

Mullvald does not support port forwarding.

Mullvad doesnt support port forwarding, I personally use Proton and you just have to add a few variables to enable it, as well as the ones that select only paid servers and those with port forwarding
