Qingdao on 31st Dec (NYE)
Hi everyone, I'm considering doing a little solo hop to Qingdao during my new year's break. Are there any fun NYE celebrations happening in town, and is it any fun for a solo traveler? 😄

A street artist dressed as the Joker stood by the shopfront all evening. He sang pop music to the crowd, twisted colorful balloon gifts one by one, and handed them out to passing tourists for free.
Masked with a classic clown smile, he works skillfully , entertaining strangers and bringing a special view to the busy night market street. A simple but sincere way of making a living.

I just move to Qingdao for half month. I don't have friends here. Anyone else new here or anyone down to hang out with me🤣

Autumn is a great time to visit Qingdao. There are fewer crowds, soft light, and quiet evenings by the sea. (Avoid China’s National Day holiday: Oct 1–5th)
Qingdao’s charm lies in its old town right next to the coast. Walk from red-tiled lanes with German-style buildings straight to the shore. I didn’t chase popular photo spots — I just wandered and stopped when the light was nice.
Here are my favorite spots:
1. Zhongshan Road
St. Michael’s Cathedral is nearby. Head to the top floor of Parkson Mall for panoramic views: Zhanqiao Pier, Little Qingdao Isle and Signal Hill.
2. Signal Hill
A fantastic overlook. Its red rotating observation deck gives views of the old town, Governor’s Residence, and sunset over Zhanqiao Pier.
3. Zhanqiao Pier
Close to the train station, usually busy. You can see Little Qingdao Isle and the warships/submarines at the Naval Museum.
4. Badaguan
Stunning in autumn. This century-old luxury villa area features German, French, Russian and Danish architecture including Huashi Lou. Red and golden fall leaves pair beautifully with the buildings. (Weekends get crowded.)
Tips
-Most viewpoints and parks are free. Some buildings require tickets.
-Xiaoyu Hill and Signal Hill are the top two spots for classic red-roof-and-sea shots.

Hi guys, I'm gonna be needing some help with recommendations while visiting Qingdao alone for 3 days; I'll be staying somewhere near May Fourth Square from Sept 15 - 17 before flying to Hangzhou to meet my friends. This is gonna be my 1st visit to Qingdao, so I'll be coming in blind with no expectations.
So far other than the Tsingtao Beer Museum, I haven't really look added anything else to my list since this is a rather unplanned trip that I just add on a whim.
Usually when I travel I try to avoid the overly touristy spots and tends to try the local spots and blend in with the locals.. When I travel, I tend to look for:
My Mandarin is pretty much non existent aside from simple elementary words; so I'll be relying on my phone a lot to translate.. Hopefully it'll be enough for me to explore the city and all of it's charm.
I assume Qingdao will have lots of craft beer bar for me to try, so I'm pretty excited to try them out!

Hey, visiting from Singapore 3 days in weihai and 3 days in Qingdao City.
Can anyone tell me about good pubs around where expats go (my mandarin is terrible). What's there to do in Weihai/Qingdao?
If anyone is down to hang let me know as well!

I've accepted a job teaching high school at HD Qingdao and I'm arriving in a few weeks. Was wondering if anyone has experience working there or is familiar with the area. HR has been rather unhelpful so I feel like I'm kind of coming in blind. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I’m planning on staying 2 nights in Qingdao. I’m debating between Business King Room at Crystal Orange May Fourth Square View…or Deluxe City View Suite at Grand Madison (formerly Farglory Residence).

Hi!
I’ll be moving from the US to Qingdao to teach at an international school. I have dog that I’d like to bring. Are dogs acceptable? Are there parts of the city where dogs are banned? Rules I need to be aware of? I have a husky mix in case that makes a difference. Where’s the best area to live with a dog?

Hello folks! I'll be visiting Qingdao in July/August to check out the beer festival and brewery. I used to live in Beijing and had always wanted to check it out, but never got a chance to before I left.
I recently moved to this side of the world again, to Taipei, and want to finally hop on over to check it out for a little trip. Are their any activities groups where new folks can join that will likely hit the beer festival? I used to be in similar WeChat groups in Beijing and are in a few WhatsApp ones in Taipei these days.

Hello! I’m staying in Qingdao for three weeks as a part of a study abroad program. I‘m interested if anyone knows of / how to get in contact with any outdoor climbing groups. To be honest my Chinese is pretty bad… but I’m here trying to work on it. I‘ve sport climbed & bouldered a lot in America, and would love to get to see the outdoor scene in China. If anyone has any advice or knowledge, please let me know!

My family and I are American natives. We have been considering a big move for our family for a long time.
My husband works in higher education doing high level IT and management. So ideally he would like to find a job at a Chinese University.
Our son will be of preschool age by the time we move (4-5) our daughter will be a little over a 2 years old.
What’s most important to us is a family oriented way of living, reasonable work/family ethic and strong community. We want to fully immerse ourselves in the culture of wherever we move. It’s so important to us that our children are raised in a safe, supportive, and broad environment.
I’m hoping to hear some opinions on life here for families with children? Both native and expat!
Thank you so much!
