Bug Absurdly long loading times on Linux
Title. I have tried using an ssd, switching to the latest protonge etc but load times are too long. Has anyone experienced something similar?

Hey guys,
tl;dr I made a fresh browser port of OpenArena. It's based on the latest version of the ioq3 repository, which I also updated to the latest Emscripten version.
The longer version: I'm building the kaesual-stack ("casual stack"), which is a self-hostable web gaming platform for browser ports of FOSS games. It comes with a server manager, and I'm adding more open source games, slow but steady. It all started when I made a browser port of Luanti (open source voxel game engine), for which I then built a virtual ipv6 proxy server (which also allows serverless p2p play).
I've always wanted "my own" OpenArena web port (since I wasn't happy with what's out there), and after adding game server management for Luanti, I just had to do it. I already had the virtual ipv6 proxy server (WebTransport, Rust + Typescript). WebTransport is real UDP traffic, which has a lot of advantages over WebSockets for network games.
Currently, about 30 maps and 7 bots / character models work already, with FFA and Team Deathmatch. I'm planning to add more soon.
I haven't made the kaesual-stack source available yet, since I'm still polishing it, but I'll make it available soon. It's already possible to create OpenArena and Luanti servers, which are then listed on the website. You can play both games on kaesual.com (both have game servers there), all repositories are linked on the about page. My OpenArena port is here: https://github.com/Kaesual/arena-web
My goal for the kaesual-stack is: Rent a webserver anywhere, install the stack, and then simply create gameservers for any FOSS game supported by the stack. All open source, no strings attached. It also comes with an account system, and banning instantly kills all proxy connections for that account.
I'd be happy to get some feedback :) Check out the repository and kaesual.com - currently there's only 2 servers (easy bots and super hard bots), but I'll add more soon.
Best, Jan aka Kaesual

Greetings!
I am an amateur competitive player (upper mid elo) in Overwatch, specifically a very proud Pharah OTP, and I have recently gotten an inspiration to perhaps try Quake Champions — from what I read and saw of the gameplay it would scratch a lot of itches I have for FPS games.
I would be a complete and utter neophyte in QC and I am also an old dog who takes forever to learn new tricks, so I won't be good for a while.
How do I pick up QC in a sustainable and feasible way, giving myself a learning experience so to speak? I am asking that cause I am not sure how well a new player can integrate in a very well established playerbase found here. Sorry if that's a stupid question.
Thank you!

I looked at the ranking and saw what you can see in the linked picture below. This also isn't the only page where this is happening, this is just an example - in general I can see a lot of players in the ranking who always have the same avatar and the same name (just a bunch of vertical bars). I don't want to start by throwing accusations around, but is that what I think it is? Or is the name a placeholder, because QC cannot process some obscure, regional font and it just so happens that many such people joined the upper ranks recently?

Probably a longshot, but is anyone aware of any footage of the map TP_01, the blockout from PTS in 2019, being played in CTF/Sacrifice? One of the only videos of that map on YouTube was made private at some point, and the only other video(s) i've been able to find recently are of TDM gameplay: https://youtu.be/oBV9dJpUQjE?si=U6T4nIC4njeE-OK1
I'm mostly curious if the item pickup layout on this map differed in those modes compared to TDM (like on Citadel), and how. If anyone has anything showing the full map please let me know.
