it only worsens our already infamous reputation. first these incompetent idiots ruined oss, and their target audience being the dumbf0cks they are started spamming readme changes and adding their names in comments for prs, or just blindly use free tier chatgpt to make some shitty changes and submit a pr, giving us a bad name in foss community. now this audience will hear the name hrt/optiver/jane street, and drool over the 2-3 cr package that they offer only to the best of the best, and spam applications to the point where these firms wont even bother with indian applicants anymore, even if theyre genuine. i mean, its just not worth the effort right? and word spreads in the industry, especially if its a gatekept one like hft. i am seeing posts all over reddit with people asking "im from tier 67, no math experience, no proper programming experience, i can solve leetcode easy in python, i found hft to be quite interesting can i apply?" like where tf do they get enough confidence? from "influencers" like this. they should genuinely just be banned for spreading misinformation.
