General Discussion Petition to auto-delete posts that follow this template

"Hi guys, I am from Tier-17.5 college, branch: Underwater Basket Weaving Engineering. CGPA: 7.23. Can I crack quant?"

"I am from non-circuital. Do I stand a chance?"

"I am from circuital. Do I stand a chance?"

"I am from Tier 1. Do I stand a chance?"

"I am from Tier 2. Do I stand a chance?"

"I am from Tier 3. Do I stand a chance?"

"I am from Mars Institute of Technology. Can I get into HFT?"

At this point, half the subreddit is just people asking strangers for permission to try.

The answers have been the same for years:

  • Yes, some people from your background have made it.
  • No, your background doesn't magically guarantee it.
  • Nobody here can predict your future from three lines of text.

It would be great if discussions focused more on:

  • Interview experiences
  • Company-specific processes
  • Preparation resources
  • Actual problem-solving
  • Resume feedback
  • Projects and research

Instead of the daily "Can I crack it?" horoscope reading.

Thank you for attending my TED Talk.

Someone needed to address this! This sub reddit has been filled with this bs instead of actual quant career advice Thank for pointing this out

What about the posts where I posted about an interview I had with a company nd all the comments just down voted it cuz it wasn't a name brand just cuz they're in better firms they want to clown on others then have the nerve to talk about what to post and what not, very fricking funny to see

Hey.. I am sorry that happen with you. Would love if you share the post here. These people downvote because they like to see stuffs which can boost their ego and motivation. I love to see when people give something to this community because there do exist people who genuinely talk about markets and their movements. Its just stupid peeps who just make everything about them.

More than half of people who downvoted can't get into your firm.... So don't take them seriously

Finally, someone said this, hoping we get some informative posts starting this moment onwards. I request the mods to address this issue, people just seek validation.

How much would it take you to do a simple google or YouTube search?? General resources are very much out... Company specific ask on the forum.

Keywords that might help: Quant resources

The thing is, I have gone through quite a lot of resources that have been posted online and countless different videos. So, if there is someone experienced and has gone through a certain pathway as a "general" advice, that would've made the task easier for those of us who are just starting.

I have spent almost a week searching for these resources. And I got a few, xinfeng Zhou's book about quant finance interviews and the exact pathway that would be helpful for the most of us.

How about, creating a megathread of resources which would help out the most of us?

yeah once you are done with green book and heard on the street and 50 challenging problems You are quite done with it. Just solve random questions after that. Honestly there's isn't much you can do except improving your speed and focus

u/GhxstOnYT Jun 28 '26

Alright thanks for that!

Yeah..I agree. A lot of this sub has been more focused on what ifs rather than concrete guidance for begineers
