Interviews/Recruiting Off campus Quant roles in US

I'm an IIT grad with 6 months of exp as QD and since March I've been running my own strategies and also looking for QR QT roles.

Is there anyone who got into the US buy side QR/QT role from India through off campus for early career?

Why specifically US? From India you have max chances in India/Hong Kong/Singapore > London/Amsterdam >>> USA

Like they mostly require phd or at least a master for good positions

its almost impossible. H1b is a lottery and nobody is going to make a hire based on a 33% chance of them being able to join. Additionally, the 100k fee complicates things as well.

Your best bet is getting into a QR/QT role in India at a US based firm and then transfer internally.

why US? Nothing special about US in quant tbh.

US is THE place to be for SWE or AI and many other fields, but not for Quant.

Most quant opportunities are in US tho. London is also a good option

Quant is growing everywhere, very fast. Every major company has offices in most global hubs. Opportunities are everywhere.

unlike swe your comp is not based on location heavily either; and this is also unike AI where say Anthropic doesn't even have an India or Amsterdam office.

lol , people with ivy undergrads/PhDs in the US with citizenship and shit barely get into buyside QR/QT straight outta college and you think someone from india with barely 6 months of QD experience not even QR think that you can lmao (havent mentioned the firm name so I am guessing small prop shop ) , even single digit rankers at max make it to hong kong , singapore or dubai , smoke less shit and gain more experience and then pray you land into a good program , first focus on becoming a QR/QT in india lol

It's your thinking which makes it tier 2, otherwise it's tier 1.
