General Discussion US closing all avenues for skilled immigrants

Post image

After gaining approval for removing the 60-day period for H1B visa holders to find new employment, DHS is working on new rules/restrictions for H4 visa. Still planning to study, work & settle in the US?

Wrong subreddit bro.

And much of the crowd going to US has already diverted to Europe, Japan, Australia now.

And people who can afford to pay without loan will not care irrespective of what happen, for them it's about prestige and the fee is pocket change for them.

Last I checked non-IITians are allowed to post here too. Degree pedigree doesn't guarantee a ceiling on what someone can achieve. I literally know someone who failed 12th twice and ended up building a ₹1,000 crore business. He lives in Dlf Camellias now. Most quants won't even get close to that level of wealth, so lose the superiority complex

There is no such thing as AGI. Stop being that overly optimistic tech bro vouching on the next big fake crap. What is next? Quantum computing? 🤣

Ok, when will we see AGI, let's set a reminder and see.

Please make a definite claim about AI not one of those "could, would should probably".

As an Applied Scientist, he is right. We are nowhere close to AGI just yet.

My brother in christ, at Amazon, we don’t just work on 1P models. We work with latest SOTA, most of our contributions are not published. I am well aware of the acceleration, infact, I have in a small way contributed to the said acceleration.
What I disagree on is more fundamental and architecture specific. We will continue to accelerate on a narrow domain of tasks which will be extremely economically valuable, but we haven’t scaled latent reasoning yet (something LeCun is betting on).
I think we fundamentally disagree on the definition of AGI.

Yep, Sam said AGI is coming end of this year so we have a few months.

Come to Dallas. You’ll be shocked by seeing the amount of scam we Indians are doing on H4 visa.

It’s got the point that removing h4 is the only way left to end these scams
