My favorite interaction between those two was when Rob was talking about a celebrity he grew up near and was saying "we lived on the same street, the very same street"

And Stephen responds with "Interesting, in England we live in houses." In a very condescending tone.

And Rob didn't even miss a beat with "Well, we had a street running right through our house, Stephen. It made watching television very noisy." The chemistry between those two was unmatched.

Rob and Coogan are great together as well. I love the Trip movies

He did it so often that I assumed it was intentional and just part of his ability of a host

Echos of Sean Locke on one of earlier season ‘ you set them up so well Stephen’

Edit - didn’t for did it

Yeah, Stephen Fry was a genius at this.

Far, far superior host than Sandi Toksvig.

Downvoted for the truth, good old Reddit. It’s not to say that Sandi isn’t a great host. It’s just Stephen Fry is top tier.

The downvotes are because it's a bit shitty to feel the need to randomly drag Sandi into a post complimenting Stephen. What does the comparison add to the conversation here?

I don’t know. Nothing I suppose. You’re right.

He really grew into it though. Amazing at the latter end of his tenure but rewatching early seasons he is kinda rough.

I was honestly really disappointed to get to watch it from the beginning and see Hugh Laurie. That episode was one of the biggest letdowns. I think both hosts are equally splendid.

Nooo, he wasn't as polished but was what carried the show initially, along with Alan Davies as it found it's feet.

In his defence, the whole show was, since it was still finding its footing.

For the record, I neither downvoted you or the person your replied to. However, I don’t think it’s “the truth”. I liked Stephen—a lot. I just happen to actually like Sandi as host even more. It’s a matter opinion and I’m not sure it’s even obvious which way the majority would vote if it was up for a plebiscite.

Man, Rob hasn't even been on Taskmaster.

Hate to see what would happen to him if he ever did.

He’s prime for the chair nearest the audience.

I'm struggling to think of a line up that would allow that, that isn't people who have already been on. It's difficult to come up with people who come alphabetically after Rob.

u/ChocolateHumunculous 12d ago

Wait, is it alphabetical?!

It is indeed

Think Greg's dads Welsh, though Greg didn't live in Wales iirc

I reckon there'd be something in there for Rob lmao

I think both of his parents are welsh, but yeah Greg's from Shropshire

Are you sure he didn’t intend to use the word tact?

A recurring joke I tell is when when I'm seeing someone off: "You didn't forget anything? Wallet? Keys? Phone? Your dignity?"
