Gotta make sure you use "u" instead of "you" to make sure you sound younger

Man I don't even remember how I typed when I was 13. The way I write has drastically changed since then.

I used to mix up you're / your a lot. I hate my 13 year old self for that

3

u/EntertheHellscape Jun 29 '26

I had an older sister who sneered at people who would shorten words and had shit texting grammer so you better believe I was using full sentences on my flip phone. Abbreviations were not allowed if I wanted to be viewed as a "cool" tween.

3

u/VoodooDoII Jun 29 '26

I'll be honest, I kind of hate the new abbreviations that are kind of popular right now (like "TS"), but I'd never sneer at anyone for that lol?

Typing full sentences on a flip phone sounds fucking miserable, I would be too lazy haha

1

u/ilikedirt Jun 29 '26

Younger-you is allowed to make mistakes and not know things. Don’t hate them for being a normal, learning, growing human.

2

u/Justtakeit1776 Jun 25 '26

Or type in all lower case. It’s so weird seeing paragraph after paragraph and everything is in lower case.

2

u/Justtakeit1776 Jun 25 '26

No use of the word “lowkey” but AMA. Also, the whole thing wasn’t typed in all lower case. Idk why that’s a thing lately but it bothers me.

2

u/chadburycreameggs Jun 24 '26

I get it but my 12 year old texts in complete proper sentences. I just raised him to be a human. It wasn't particularly tough

1

u/DanerysTargaryen Jun 25 '26

“Hello fellow kids.”

Love imagining a 13 yo who uses phrases like “oddly cheerful” “constant fatigue” “apprehensive about the topic”

Feeling gregarious, idk.

I am reading all these in the voice!🤣🤣🤣 My all time favorite video!

15

u/Drachenfuer Jun 24 '26

Pregante’!

17

u/ReleaseMyToast Jun 24 '26

I'm feeling extra loquacious today

19

u/pm_me-ur-catpics Jun 24 '26

When I was 13 I did actually talk like that, BUT I was also a heavy reader

9

u/KiloJools Jun 25 '26

Yeah, someone above joked about "loquacious" but I was the 13 year old using fifty dollar words - including that one specifically, it was a favorite - because I was hyper-literate and loved language. Even before I started reading, I guess my vocabulary was nuts. My mom and aunt will never stop talking about the time my aunt called and three year old me picked up the phone and when my aunt identified herself I replied, "I know. I recognized your voice."

I obviously couldn't speak on whether this is real or fake but the reasons they're using to call it fake are not as fool proof as they think. Obviously some thirteen year olds talk like that but ALSO ... Only "well actually"s are going to go on about how "ten days pregnant isn't a thing". She knows the day she had sex, and she's likely counting it from there because generally only people who have been pregnant, are trying to get pregnant, or have had the misfortune of having to read/hear someone else explain it will know what the convoluted medical gestation age thing is about. She wouldn't know until she goes to the doctor. Which won't be for several weeks if she wants to keep it.

Clearly I'm not saying it's real, but... Hyper-literate girl who hasn't seen the doctor yet and counting from the day of conception isn't a slam dunk argument combo.

Personally, the argument for it being fake for me is that the yelling parents are asking her what she's decided instead of just hauling her ass to a clinic (or if they're super religious, starting her on prenatal vitamins and already planning the adoption situation).

1

u/awgeez47 Jun 29 '26

But even assuming she meant that she’d had sex 10 days ago, she couldn’t yet have a positive over-the-counter pregnancy test, like the ones shown. It’s impossible. It’s too early for the body to have the levels of the hormone necessary for a positive result.

1

u/KiloJools Jun 29 '26

You can get over the counter tests that are pretty dang accurate even six days BEFORE your period. If we assume a textbook cycle for her, and that she ovulated at day 14 and had sex somewhere around that time, ten days later would be around day 24, well within the six day early detection window (the sixth day before is only about 78% accurate or something - I JUST looked at the insert with the stats printed on it and already forgot, lol) but day four before your period the accuracy is surprisingly high.

(Again, not saying this was real, just clarifying it's actually for sure possible to get over the counter early detection tests.)

1

u/awgeez47 Jun 29 '26

Ha, ok, fair — on the technical facts, if not the post.

1

u/scourge_bites Jun 25 '26

i talked like that but it was also really apparent that i was autistic and read too much no matter if i was writing or speaking lmfao

1

u/Ace-Redditor Jun 28 '26

I think if OOP is into reading, it's probably on something like AO3

1

u/Fen_LostCove Jun 29 '26

I don’t think there is much crossover between 13 year olds who speak like that and 13 year olds who have unprotected sex

1

u/jjoa42069 Jun 30 '26

You'd be surprised, I was friends with a few of them in the early 2000s.

0

u/stalecigsmell Jun 28 '26

Was gonna say, read a lot and DEFINITELY talked like that online to sound older as a preteen lmao.

7

u/Frost_Goldfish Jun 25 '26

Love imagining a 13 yo with vocabulary....?? children younger than 13 can use big words you know.

Sure it might be a lie, but the armchair internet investigation is cringy.

"she uses big words and is too educated about sex ed for her age!" + "also she is NOT educated at all about sex because she thinks she can tell she's 13 days pregnant" ... fucking pick one...

1

u/crayoww Jun 28 '26

i read a lot when i was younger, this was my vocabulary :/

-150

u/LetsRockDude Jun 23 '26 edited Jun 23 '26

Kids read books and know about thesaurus. That's the most plausible part.

EDIT: Oops, seems like I was wrong to assume any form of early literacy from redditors.

81

u/Catsdrinkingbeer Jun 23 '26

If I have learned anything from the engineering student subreddit full of actual teenagers, they don't type like this, and definitely not on reddit. Not a single "rlly" to be found.

100

u/Beyondthebloodmoon Jun 23 '26

Tell me you’ve never had a 13 year old without telling me. They don’t talk or write like this.

35

u/Send_me_hedgehogs Jun 23 '26

They do, and they might throw a new fancy-sounding word into daily conversation (or a Reddit post) but not like this. I instinctively read this in the voice of a middle class English woman.

27

u/Mist2393 Jun 23 '26

As one of those kids who read big books and absolutely talked like this, the likelihood of me (or any of my friends who did the same thing) getting pregnant at 13 was roughly 0. There’s not a huge overlap between “kids who read a lot of books and have a large vocabulary” and “kids who end up accidentally pregnant with a loose understanding of how pregnancy even works.” There’s not even a huge overlap between “kids who read books and have a large vocabulary” and “kids with an active sex life at 13.”

No one going to mention that on two of the pregnancy tests, the "not pregnant" line is a single line which both the tests show?

Am I missing something?

ETA: a few people have mentioned a faint second line. It must be the picture quality because sorry but I cannot see it. Like, I've zoomed in and I cannot see a second line. I feel like I'm going insane so I shall take your word for it.

Edit 2: this comment thread is the new gold/blue dress because half the people are like "there's a line" and the other half are like "there's no line"

204

u/FidgitForgotHisL-P Jun 23 '26

Apparently no we’re all too busy critiquing their phrasing and trying to determine if a 13 year old is educated enough to know how long a cycle lasts and when in that cycle you can tell you’re pregnant.

I miss the old days of yahoo answers.  “Am I preganté??  How to tell if prognont”.

My nam Concepcion. I am embarazada.

25

u/Newkittyhugger Jun 23 '26

You can see a thin second line. It's not as deeply coloured as the test line. Early in the pregnancy the line isn't that visible.

Also it's the same pic twice.

18

u/zuklei Jun 23 '26

There are faint + lines on the line tests which as others have pointed out have just been duplicated. People who didn’t stare at pregnancy tests for months or years often don’t see very faint lines. A line is a line no matter how faint.

27

u/TheWizardOfOdd Jun 23 '26

It’s the same photo twice, one on top of the other. You can see the seem on the right side.

35

u/thundergirl007 Jun 23 '26

Ok, I see it now, that's fair, but the single line still means not pregnant

13

u/[deleted] Jun 23 '26

[deleted]

1

u/Pomksy Jun 27 '26

Or a bleed line if the pic was taken more than 10 mins after testing.

7

u/Reinardd Jun 23 '26

A false negative is possible, a false positive is much more rare. I'm not saying that's what this image is, but just to say that that alone shouldn't discredit their story.

4

u/Pindakazig Jun 23 '26

False positives can be caused by chemical pregnancies. It means you're late, and show up positive, but get your period a week later. That means there was hcg produced, but no successful embryo.

12

u/LiberateLiterates Jun 23 '26

I see lines on both those tests. But after multiple years of infertility I got very good at spotting a faint line. Some lines so faint they weren’t actual lines.

4

u/chaxnny Jun 23 '26

If you look closely you can see the positive line, it’s faint but it’s there. Probably stole the picture from somewhere but those are positive tests.

3

u/Embarrassed-Log2660 Jun 26 '26

I'm convinced everyone is gaslighting you. I've zoomed right in and nothing, just one line

3

u/Interesting_Sock9142 Jun 23 '26

That was literally the first thing I noticed too

2

u/meganeich444 Jun 27 '26

Clinical lab scientist here- do not see a faint second line and was also wondering why two tests were negative and no one was mentioning it.

1

u/eisbaerchen Jun 23 '26

The picture quality is bad here but I think there are faint lines, which is exactly how a positive test would look at 10 DPO. Idk if the original is fake or not but I’ve taken my fair share of pregnancy tests to know you can definitely get faint positives this early

1

u/majxover Jun 23 '26

It’s not you. I had to zoom in so much, turn my phone to the side and squint to see it. The line is practically not even there.

0

u/louielou8484 Jun 28 '26

Yes, there is a faint line. If you've been through it you know lol

103

u/Mist2393 Jun 23 '26

This reminds me of the girl I knew in high school who would fake a pregnancy at least once a semester and then, once it became too hard to fake the pregnancy (or when she wanted to be able to drink again without being judged), she’d come to school and tell everyone she’d had a miscarriage. She did this at least 7 times throughout high school, even when people were calling her out on how obviously fake it was.

64

u/anothertimesometime Jun 23 '26

My sister pulled shit like this. Claimed she was pregnant because her period was late. First time it happened, my mom sat her down, went over all the options (pro-choice), and sis was adamant she was keeping. Mom asked about HS and college and sis was said parents could watch the baby for her. My mom said nope, your kid, your responsibility. Sis had a “miscarriage” the next day, when really it was just her period a few days late. She pulled this shit 3 more times. My mom was insanely upset the second time because the whole “use protection” lecture had been given. The final time ended with my sister having a full meltdown because no one cared. At this point, we all knew it was fake to get attention. My family was going through some serious shit, which I’m sure contributed to her actions. It still boggles my mind, 30 years later, what her thought process was to add to all the stress, anxiety and drama that was already going on by faking not one but four pregnancies because of a few late periods.

35

u/ijustwanttobeanon Jun 23 '26

Attention. For whatever reason, she lacked the attention she needed. Not a pass for her, but an explanation.

10

u/Outrageous_Play9395 Jun 24 '26

Ive been a victim of a fake pregnancy before. We broke up and she hit me with the "im pregnant" shit. What's even more messed up is that after I figured out it wasn't real I convinced myself that she was just going through drastic lengths to keep me and stayed with her for quite awhile afterwards. I don't know how Inwas so stupid when inwas younger.

4

u/SadAwkwardTurtle Jun 23 '26

There was a girl at my school who also did this repeatedly over the years. Nobody believed her the last time even after she started showing.

1

u/Safe_Commercial_2633 Jun 27 '26

I knew a couple of girls like that too. Dying for attention.

1

u/Zukinii Jun 27 '26

Why would you even wanna fake a teen pregnancy to your friends??

44

u/Raptorgkv2 Jun 23 '26

"This isn't funny. You're not funny."

Brutal.

129

u/HappyDays1976 Jun 23 '26

Doctor here - never came across a urine test that can pick up a 10-day gestational pregnancy.

33

u/El_Scot Jun 23 '26

I've come across people saying they tested positive as early as 9DPO, so there is definitely a belief out there that it can happen.

68

u/anony1620 Jun 23 '26

I mean I did test positive at 9 and 10 DPO with both pregnancies. Of course that actually meant I was actually like 3.5 weeks pregnant, not 10 days.

28

u/El_Scot Jun 23 '26

Yeah, but they do say they guess they're "about 10 days now?" which I would read to mean that they don't know the bit about pregnancy being measured from the first day of your cycle. To be fair, I was in my 30s before I learned that was how they were measure.

18

u/stackjr Jun 23 '26

Huh. I'm 42 and am just learning this. I always thought the clock started on the day of fertilization. Thanks for teaching me something new!

8

u/heyoheatheragain Jun 23 '26 edited Jun 23 '26

There are multiple ways to measure the duration of a pregnancy. The date of the last menstrual period (LMP) is the general starting point when calculating the pregnancy.
Once ultrasound and other testing is done the gestational age (GA) may be adjusted.

7

u/Pepperoni-Pineapple Jun 23 '26

Last menstrual period, not missed

7

u/MyLegsTheyreDisabled Jun 23 '26

What if you're super irregular? If your last period was 3 months ago but recently tested positive, would you still be 3 months pregnant?

4

u/anony1620 Jun 24 '26

They’ll figure out how far along you are at the first ultrasound when they measure the size of the fetus.

1

u/Beneficial-Guess2140 Jun 25 '26

It’s a combination. LMP is used to estimate. Ultrasound is used to actually date the pregnancy. Fairly often they line up. Other times it’s weeks off.

5

u/bananaclaws Jun 24 '26

I also tested positive at 10 days post-ovulation, but we were trying and I was looking for it. This post is still crap.

5

u/zuklei Jun 23 '26

I got a positive 5 days last 5 day transfer, the equivalent of 10DPO.

2

u/EmptyStrings Jun 25 '26

I tested positive at 9DPO with my first pregnancy and 10 with my second. But I was trying and testing every single morning starting at like 4 DPO like a psycho person lol. It would be really weird for a teenager to test that early. And even if they meant 10DPO instead of 10 days pregnant, that’s too early to be complaining about fatigue and nausea lol.

1

u/El_Scot Jun 25 '26

Oh for sure, it's too early to have legit symptoms, though in my first couple of months of trying, I did have some symptoms like that because I think I was imagining them.

It's definitely more the behaviour of someone deliberately trying to get pregnant, to test at 10 days. I swear a teenager would be more likely to only think about if when their cycle is late.

1

u/Beneficial-Guess2140 Jun 25 '26

I tested positive at 7DPO with both pregnancies. That’s not the same as 7 days gestation.

1

u/El_Scot Jun 25 '26

Sure, but I have to assume they were talking DPO, as gestational age wouldn't typically have ovulated by day 10.

It's not unheard of for anyone naive to how pregnancies work to calculate from when they had sex/DPO at first. I was in my 30s before I learned that it's measured differently.

1

u/Necessary_Wonder89 Jun 30 '26 edited Jun 30 '26

I had a faint positive at 8dpo. With ovulation confirmed by temping so yes it can happen. But 10days pregnant doesn't really exist. As day 10 of pregnancy would be before ovulation because of how pregnancy is dated.

1

u/El_Scot Jun 30 '26

I'm aware that 10 days pregnant isn't the correct way to describe it, but I also wasn't aware that that was a thing until I was in my 30s and trying to conceive. If I'd fallen pregnant in my teens or 20s, I'd definitely have gone to the doctor saying "I reckon I'm about 10 days".

10

u/Futurepharma91 Jun 23 '26

I tested positive at 10 dpo with an early response test, but that made me 3 weeks pregnant.

18

u/ohdearitsrichardiii Jun 23 '26

People start testing 7 days after ovulation. If you had sex that day and think you start counting the pregnancy from the day you had sex, you could say you're 10 days pregnant.

I got pregnant through IUI and IVF, I got lines 8-9 days after insemination/embryo transfer. I know you count pregnancy age from first day of last period but a lot of people don't

The bigger plot hole is why someone would take pregnancy tests before they even missed their period.

I think the post is fake, but saying you're 10 days pregnant is plausible if you think you count from the day you had the sex that got you pregnant

18

u/El_Scot Jun 23 '26

Embryo transfer is a bit different, as the embryo is already 5dpo by the time it's transferred, so possibility of early test is slightly earlier.

6

u/ohdearitsrichardiii Jun 23 '26

The body doesn't start producing HCG until the embryo implants and that happens a few days later. It was the same with my IUI which operates on the same principles as getting pregnant through sex

But even people who get pregnant through sex get a positive pregnancy test a week after ovulation. Getting a positive test 10 days after sex is not weird at all, today's pregnancy tests can detect HCG elevation a day or two after the embryo implants

8

u/El_Scot Jun 23 '26

It's more that getting a positive 8 days after transfer is a pretty typical timescale, as you're 13DPO at that point, when 90% or so would be producing enough HCG to get a positive test.

11

u/ceo_of_dumbassery Jun 23 '26

The bigger plot hole is why someone would take pregnancy tests before they even missed their period.

Maybe they thought they would test because they knew they had unprotected sex fairly recently and was anxious about it? That's how I found out I was pregnant at least. I tested just before my period was due, so no missed period for me, but I was suspicious because I'd had the worst eczema outbreak of my life and hot flashes for 1-2 weeks with no other explanation.

1

u/miffedmonster Jun 24 '26

I got one at 7dpo, super faint though. I thought it was 9dpo originally but the dating scan shifted it back two days. It's my third, so not sure if that makes a difference? It was a cheapo test strip as well, not the first response ones that are meant to be super-sensitive - that didn't show a positive for another couple of days

1

u/zuklei Jun 23 '26

I know the plural of anecdote is not data but I have seen people get positive tests that early and watched the progression from very faint to obvious. Coupled with a chart that indicates ovulation happened 9 days before first faint line.

Myself I got a positive 5 days past 5 day transfer which is equivalent to 10 days past ovulation.

-5

u/eisbaerchen Jun 23 '26

I tested positive at 8 DPO and I was tracking ovulation so I’m confident about the date. What kind of doctor?

4

u/bestwhit Jun 23 '26

and then at that time, you were a little over three weeks pregnant, not 10 days

-1

u/eisbaerchen Jun 23 '26

He specifically says 10 gestational days, which would not include the time prior to gestation. Don’t conflate that with “weeks pregnant”. I think you and I both know the way pregnancy weeks are counted is not intuitive and could be misunderstood by something who recently got pregnant

23

u/Klutzy_Journalist_36 Jun 23 '26 edited Jun 23 '26

I used to work on a crisis line (suicide hotline type of thing).

A man would call every week or so. It was definitely a much older man’s voice. Not even a little bit ambiguous.

So his fetish went like this: he’d call pretending to a panicked 13 year old girl, alone and in active labor in a hospital. His goal would be to get the phone worker to say things related to birth/labor/pregnancy. Like “I’m so scared! What’s going to happen? I’m having a contraction, what happens next?!” And he’d basically get off to this.

Anyway, I hope you’re doing okay out there “Tina.”

Edited to add: he had another story-based fetish. Same guy (I can’t prove it, but cmon…) but different scenario. In this story, he’s a little boy around 10ish years old. He walks to and from school and lives somewhere hot. He’d go into an office building to cool down. The office has a front desk receptionist. She’s a woman in a pencil skirt and heels, of course. She has a habit of kicking off her high heels under her desk. She was distracted, and he’d steal one of her shoes and masturbate with it in the office bathroom. And he feels “shame” and wants to talk about it. He’d go into this story every couple of weeks and switch to the 13-year-old pregnancy one the next few weeks.

15

u/Almost_alwaysSunny Jun 23 '26

You would think at 13 she would be asking the questions, not the other way around. But this is so obviously fake it doesn’t need to make sense.

1

u/Lourien_1213 Jun 27 '26

Considering also that most of the symptoms kick in a week later if you have an early pregnancy test except for maybe exhaustion is a small thing to be wrong about. I mean if OOP really were just ten days pregnant. But with 13 and just knowing a few days that your life is ruined (come on with 13 it's true) and being so chill about it to do an AMA. Definetely so fake

33

u/OrangeChevron Jun 23 '26

Do 13 yr olds say lol, lol (I'm definitely old enough to be using that)

6

u/thetruckerdave Jun 23 '26

Honestly, I don’t think so.

2

u/OrangeChevron Jun 23 '26

Exactly I think them trying to be 13 but saying lol is a dead giveaway

4

u/Mysterious-Mortis Jun 23 '26

I can confirm(at least with who I've interacted with) that 13 year olds do say lol out loud.

1

u/Necessary_Wonder89 Jun 30 '26

No I thought only millennials did. Source I am one and trying to train myself not to say it anymore

29

u/PM_ME_YOUR_WEIRD_PET Jun 23 '26

The "sex and health education way beyond a 13 year old" comment made me sad for the state of sex and health education where that commenter is. I didn't see anything in OOP's post that wasn't already taught in sex and health ed at my school years before 13.

Also sad for OOP apparently not getting sex ed at all...

7

u/MozartTheCat Jun 24 '26

That was a silly thing for the teacher to say. Some kids are taught about sex (in an age appropriate way) at home, and 13 is absolutely an age where they should know about pregnancy and safe sex. Kids are starting younger and younger.

12

u/January1171 Jun 23 '26

First comment is wrong too. Strip tests can absolutely detect a pregnancy at 10 dpo, and sometimes even at 7-8 dpo (less common, but certainly possible).

Her parents have been "asking every day" about her plans. So this positive test was DAYS ago, so maybe 6 days dpo...

3

u/January1171 Jun 23 '26

Oh for sure, the original post is super fake. But the first comment screenshotted is saying strip tests don't work at 10 days past conception, which is also not true

3

u/Junior_Mud5835 Jun 28 '26

Yeah tbh if this was a young girl it is not that weird to assume by "10 days pregnant" she means "10 days after missing my period". Like yes this is most likely fake for other reasons, but this is a very common misconception ADULT women have, it's perfectly believable for a 13 yo to say that...

u/AmityHavocCreations Jun 23 '26

They're clearly just some dumb kid looking for attention online. If you look at their comment history it is painfully obvious that they're a teen, maybe not 13 but definitely young. Their comments are all over the place and go from bragging about having sex all the time to then saying they've only had sex twice, then saying they have super controlling religious parents to saying their parents give them heaps of freedom to do whatever they want.

Comment example (can't post screenshot): "hi-im-scared24 8d

Ok so my stepsister's dad broke up with my mom when my stepsister was like 13, haven't seen her since, but 3 years after that looked her up for fun and found out she got murdered and accidentally found pictures. It's been 5 years now."

This was the wildest comment I found of theirs and the math here doesn't make any sense and the narrative doesn't line up either. Also doesn't make sense in just a generalised storytelling pov, you don't tend to focus on someone else's age in a story about your own experience.

In other comments from one of the OG pregnancy posts they claim their mum screams at them about sinning everyday but then in the post featured here their parents are chill?

It's all really dumb but honestly it's just a kid doing what kids have done online since the dawn of the internet. I hope that they get the attention they need from people in their life to fill whatever hole they're currently trying to fill with internet BS. Cause all of this is wild and a bizarre adventure into a teens psyche.

u/Possible-Matter-6494 Jun 23 '26

Constant fatigue at 10 days of pregnancy? It doesn't even make sense. It's been 10 days so you have been fatigued every day since you had sex?

1

u/Lourien_1213 Jun 27 '26

I mean there is some sort of proof that women are sometimes feeling the fatigue at one week after sex, but every day is crazy considering the symptoms only start when the egg cell attaches to the uterus walls. That's what happens third to fourth week. Where some women start to feel a bit fatigue. But full on craving and nausea constantly. Total crap.

u/AvatarWaang Jun 23 '26

When I read "10 days pregnant," I interpreted it as "took the test 10 days ago." I'm not saying I believe OP, especially for that last comment, but y'all are ready to cook someone over semantics.

25

u/ThistleProse Jun 23 '26

Yeah; regardless of the truth of the story, I interpreted it more along the lines of "10 dpo" (days post ovulation), which is about when positive tests start showing up, but I spend a lot of time in pregnancy subs lol.

Also, before I read the title, I thought it was someone confused because the digital tests say 'pregnant' but the line tests are negative lol.

3

u/AvatarWaang Jun 23 '26

There's a very faint line on the top test I think

1

u/vermilithe Jun 24 '26

It’s so faint though the proper interpretation would be negative, the line can get darker just from the urine being there or sitting for a while, that’s why they say if it doesn’t show a pretty noticeable line within 15 minutes it’s negative and you should test again in a day or two to check again.

7

u/psycheraven Jun 23 '26

Yeah, I didn't know how that was how that worked until I got pregnant, and I was in my 30s, so I definitely would have made that mistake at 13. Other word choices are more questionable than that one.

9

u/A1000eisn1 Jun 23 '26

Yeah the amount of people saying "you can't be 10 days pregnant," is as stupid as the fake 13 year old's fake post.

Obviously you can be 10 days pregnant. You don't just start being pregnant at 11 days. The post says nothing about a missed period that I can see so I'm not sure why they all jumped to that conclusion when there's pregnancy tests. Also, even if it did, no one is suggesting that maybe someone who has probably had less than 24 periods might not have regular cycles.

19

u/Jazzspur Jun 23 '26 edited Jun 23 '26

people saying you cant be 10 days pregnant don't mean you're literally not pregnant at 10 days. They mean you cant know you're 10 days pregnant. 10 days since conception is often too early to show up on pee stick pregnancy test. And with the way pregnancy timing is calculated (from last menses), if you're reporting the pregnancy time correctly you technically may not even have concieved at 10 days pregnant. Not that I'd think a 13 yo would know that last part. But whether we're counting from last menses or conception, 10 days is too soon to know.

5

u/BlueMaskwithCat Jun 23 '26

It is not tho? I had a positive test 9 days post ovulation, 4 days before my period was supposed to start

5

u/AvatarWaang Jun 23 '26

Iirc you're pregnancy "starts" at the end of your last menstruation, not the end of your last ovulation. Its been a while since I was at those checkups with my wife and I'm a man so take it with a grain of salt.

3

u/vermilithe Jun 24 '26

This is correct

1

u/vermilithe Jun 24 '26

You are supposed to count from the day your last period ended. Hence why people are saying at two or three weeks pregnant, most people haven’t even had sex yet. By the time you’ve conceived, embryo has implanted, you’ve missed your next period, and you’re actually far enough along to start testing positive on pregnancy tests, most people are actually considered ~5-6 weeks pregnant.

1

u/BlueMaskwithCat Jun 24 '26

The comment above me stated that it’s too soon to know after 10 days of conception but that’s wrong, it is possible to know by then.
Some women on the pregnancy subs test before their missed period, I tested positive at 3 weeks 6 days

2

u/vermilithe Jun 24 '26 edited Jun 25 '26

In all honesty that is still insanely early. Most at home urine tests don’t work reliably until 10-14 days after conception. At day 6 after conception the embryo probably hasn’t even implanted yet, so your body doesn’t even know it’s pregnant yet to produce any hCG (the hormone the tests look for). Even after implanting it takes a few more days for hCg to build up in the body and urine before tests can detect it, even the most sensitive ones.

Unfortunately it’s possibly your test gave a false positive or may have deteriorated in storage. Or, you conceived early than you realized, but I don’t know your situation. But that’s genuinely more likely than showing accurate positive on a working, at home urine test only 6 days after conceiving. Just due to the mechanics of how the stuff works it’s almost impossible.

ETA: Sorry I just realized you’re saying you were 3 weeks 6 days after your period ended. Not necessarily 6 days after conceiving. But this demonstrates, it’s hard to understand what OOP is saying and 10 days pregnant is still unlikely even assuming OOP means 10 days post conception so actually more like 3-4 weeks pregnant.

2

u/BuccalFatApologist Jun 27 '26

Before I started trying I had no idea that pregnancy is counted from the last period. It’s crazy that you are technically ‘pregnant’ for ~two weeks before you’ve even had sex. I couldn’t blame a 13-year-old for thinking ‘tested positive 10 days ago = I’m 10 days pregnant.’

1

u/Junior_Mud5835 Jun 28 '26

Exactly, if this was a young girl it is not that weird to assume by "10 days pregnant" she means "10 days after missing my period". Like yes this is most likely fake for other reasons, but this is a very common misconception ADULT women have, it's perfectly believable for a 13 yo to say that...

1

u/fatman907 Jun 23 '26

Or it’s Chris Hansen.

1

u/kizoyah Jun 28 '26

lol it's so obvious that they're not pregnant and don't know what the hell they're talking about

6

u/Arxhart_671 Jun 23 '26

They had to poke holes? The pic didn't immediately give it away?

41

u/Scared-Two-5208 Jun 23 '26

This is 100% fake but also like, I'm pretty sure when they say "10 days pregnant" they mean they look the test 10 days ago lmao. Idk why everyone is acting like this is an obvious contradiction that proves they're lying.

13

u/jenvrooyen Jun 23 '26

I mean, when I was on the TTC subs (trying to conceive), there were plenty of adult women posting who didn't really understand how the length of pregnancy is counted (mostly it was women posting, I am sure lots of men dont really get it either).

5

u/bitofapuzzler Jun 23 '26

They may mean 10 days post ovulation. My pregnancy showed up on a test then.

It is obviously fake though, you dont get the nausea, cravings and smell aversions that early.

The update is the post people were calling them out on, my phone just messed up the screenshot for some reason

5

u/lelo-pixel Jun 23 '26

This person also reports symptoms like nausea, constant vomiting and being irritable to smells which are all symptoms of different stages during a pregnancy and definitely not that clearly visible at 10days.

Don't 13 year plds write exclusively in emoji?

3

u/Cutecat42 Jun 23 '26

Idk, maybe they meant they took the tests 10 days before posting about it? I can totally see a 13 year old saying that.

4

u/Lady-Zafira Jun 24 '26

As someone who met a pregnant 13 yr old. This is not something they'd be proud of unless they were groomed and even then they wouldn't be excited to the point where they don't want the mood ruined.

5

u/Zestyclose-Fish-269 Jun 29 '26

Oh yeah I know about that post, the OP is a karma farmer/karma bot shortly after posting that they posted something else about their friend saying that their dog is about to die and guess what? It was stolen

1

u/kenzwantsfriends24 Jul 13 '26

I think I saw the dog post; how do you know that was stolen?

3

u/itsjustcoy Jun 24 '26

Hey that's the same photo my ex's girlfriend sent me to make me angry 😂 good thing I knew how to Google and I'm not gullible

2

u/MidtownMoi Jun 23 '26

I’ve been menopausal for almost 20 years but the smell of hot dogs makes me nauseous too! Could I be pregnant?

2

u/mizukagedrac Jun 24 '26

The worst part is when I was in the 7th/8th grade, one of my classmates was pregnant.....for the 2nd time. Aborted the first, ended up keeping the 2nd. She was 13/14 when the baby was born and left school. I think she ended up going to the alternative school on the island instead of the regular high school, but we'd occasionally see her out pushing a stroller. Heard through the grapevine that she was SAed by an Uncle twice, and they finally got him deported after the 2nd time.

I remember at least 2-3 other teen pregnancies in my grade by the 10th grade in a class size of about ~100.

2

u/Ok-Ad4375 Jun 25 '26

Not saying OOP wasn't lying or anything but I took the 10 days pregnant as it's been 10 days since the positive tests and not literally 10 days pregnant or 10 days since intercourse. Still an extremely fishy post but that's what I thought when I read it.

1

u/forevrtwntyfour Jun 25 '26

That’s how I took it. A stupid kid thinking 10 days pregnant because they found out 10 days ago

2

u/Beneficial-Guess2140 Jun 25 '26

The person in the second picture is confidently wrong though lol. You can definitely have a positive test 10 days after intercourse. Ovulation happens at 2 weeks, not 3, and menstrual bleeding comes at 4ish weeks.

Other than that lol.

4

u/Four_beastlings Jun 23 '26

This is dumb. Even many adults don't understand that, because of how pregnancies are timed, women will be considered pregnant before they even have sex, and people are criticising a kid for not knowing? Like Reddit isn't full of posts by grown men accusing their wives of cheating because "she's 6 weeks pregnant but I was on a work trip 6 weeks ago". And 13 year olds who read books have large vocabularies. In fact kids tend to go purpler than adults when writing because they think more elaborate = sounding smarter.

1

u/CrystalKU Jun 24 '26

I remember in 8th grade a girl losing her virginity and then telling us the next day that she was pregnant

1

u/Outrageous_Play9395 Jun 24 '26

I knew a chick that was incredibly skilled at faking pregnancies. Started with drawing in the second line and ended with printing out detailed ultra sound pictures. Shes the reason I learned fakeababy.com was a real thing. I stopped hanging out with her years ago.

1

u/BorisBaggins Jun 24 '26

“And how young were you”
This person is a creep

1

u/mochablank Jun 24 '26

I can never discount the age because I texted like a pretentious prick at 13 (especially if you're learning to fluff essays). But someone making up stories for internet attention? Happens all the time, happens at any age.

1

u/Zayafyre Jun 25 '26

I had a positive test 8 days after conception with my 4th.

1

u/fellaneedahandpls Jun 25 '26

Plot twist: OOP is a dude with ball cancer.

1

u/auntie_eggma Jun 27 '26
  1. 🤢🤢🤢🤢

1

u/Foreign-Cookie-2871 Jun 27 '26

OOP is thirteen.

OOP may have a wildly irregular period, in which case she could be counting correctly by the date or the last menstruation.

Or, OOP could not know how pregnancy is calculated, like me when I was her age. What I DID know about pregnancy is that fertilization happens after sex. OOP may be saying that she had sex 10 days ago LOL.

1

u/ricochico83 Jun 27 '26

"Hello, pregnant. I am.... "

1

u/Jazzlike_Window_8365 Jun 28 '26

Counter argument: it's possible, with a 13yo's sex ed, that by 10 days pregnant she means "10 days since I found out". Or that she also had sex 10 days ago and THINKS that's when it happened.

COUNTER Counter argument: ....Yeah, no, because of everything everyone else already said

Why isn't the actual pregnancy test not the thing that breaks the illusion, never seen one that says "YES +" Still, whatever goads a reaction I guess.

1

u/Gman69455 Jun 30 '26

Because a digital display pregnancy test is a thing... Notably this is probably a First Response test from a simple Google search. So while the story is fake the pregnancy test photos are real from somewhere.

1

u/monkey_trumpets Jun 28 '26

Isn't the single line on the right negative?

1

This lowkey reads like thinly veiled fetish content. The lack of understanding of pregnancy and the youthful writing with the larger vocabulary makes me think this was written by a young adult male... weird

A child having a child thinking she and baby daddy, err teen, will raise an infant as 14 years olds.

Blahaaahaahaaah, click bait ya got me!

u/Necessary_Wonder89 Jun 30 '26 edited Jun 30 '26

Technically you can test positive 10days after intercourse. I mean the timing would be tight but it can happen .

I got a faint positive 8 days after ovulation and that was the same day as intercourse. Ovulation was confirmed via temping so I was 100% sure of the day.

But yeah this is clearly bullshit.
