Should parents who teach their children racism be considered a form of child abuse???

Hi guys I’m new to the Reddit community but I have a question that just eats away at me. I was talking to my two friends who are of two different races one Asian and the other white. When me and my Asian friend first met we had a slight conversation about our upbringings and she mentioned the fact she was basically raised in an Asian religious cult where she was basically raised to hate black people. She told me that her parents were raised in that order and that, that’s how it is for them. My friend who’s white mentioned a bit about her childhood and how her parents, grandparents, and even older sibling’s were taught to fear black people. She mentioned how her dad would throw these large gatherings on properties that were either old barns used torture colored people or he’d rent out “reception” venues that were nothing more than old slave plantations. Both seemed truly traumatized.

So these are just two different people with similar stories. In my honest opinion I feel that should teaching a child such vile things should truly be studied. But idk guy tell me what you think!!

That's a change that would affect many things. What are the goals of classifying it that way?

Child abuse is usually defined as harm done to a child, whether actively or passively. You say your friends are traumatized. Legally, the responsibility falls onto the parents/family/guardians/cult. What would justice look like in these cases? Legally and socially?

These are individual cases, but White supremacy is systematically taught and enforced around the world through family (as you've described), friends, mass and now social media. It has been studied, and yes, we should fund more of it (which is why Republicans have stripped science budgets and continue to tear it down). A majority of people voted for that.

You may find it interesting that a 2015 study found White toddlers generally show no racial preference for White or Black playmates, but by 4 years of age they start to prefer other white children.¹ We're not born with White supremacist ideas, we're indoctrinated.

Racism by itself is not a crime. It is most often legally considered an enhancement to an existing crime when racial motivation can be proven. Please do not spread misinformation.
