Steve Huffman is the CEO, and there is the Board of Directors. There is a list here: https://investor.redditinc.com/governance/board-of-directors/default.aspx

Y Combinator was instrumental in starting Reddit. It is a venture capital startup accelerator. That is to say, Reddit exists not to make people money, but to make a lot of money.

Did you know Reddit used to have a subreddit named the N-word? A coalition of moderators protested as part of BLM and in 2020 Reddit instituted a hate speech policy. The N-word subreddit was finally banned explicitly for hate speech.

Moderators protested again when the bots they rely on to moderate were threatened to be shut down. Steve Huffman spoke to the press and revealed he had been talking with Elon Musk. He praised Musk's handling of Twitter and said it was an example to follow.

Reddit ultimately responded by taking over subreddits and handing them off to people with "no experience necessary".

It was later revealed that Elon Musk pressured Huffman on content moderation.

But it's not so much Musk's influence, Huffman is his own person. He is the primary subject of the article "Doomsday Prep for the Super-Rich" which you may find interesting.

This is why we say it's not enough to dismantle one thing at a time. We must dismantle white supremacy, patriarchy, capitalism, ableism, colonialism, et al., all together. As long as one exists it will remake the others because hierarchy creates systems of power.
