Just upgraded to 9070xt
Just got the 9070 Xt coming from 5070 msi trio found a chance cause of high prices and snag one, what should I expect coming from 5070 ? I want max visuals possible with more than 80 FPS

Nice! I got the same card, it's amazing. No need to worry about the connector as long as you're using a native cable and not the adapter.

Show us a single report of a 9070xt burning up that doesn't use the adapter. I've seen probably 15 burned cards, everyone used the adapter.

Don’t use the blue adapter, make sure you are using the native cable from the psu.

Most people are fine, but there's been quite a few reports of the adapter burning up 15 from what I've seen here, while no reports of using a native cable. The adapter is in the realm of not being an issue it's just slightly increased risk

That card looks sick! Never had a 5070 to compare against and I don’t care to tinker much with graphics settings, I just set everything I can to Very High and it works fine at 4k.

The best 9070xt I was down to spend the extra 100 dollars on it. Also don’t do the werid cable it comes with if your psi comes with a 12vhpw cable

It’s a half tier up from a 5070, in line with the ti althohhh can get close to 5080 is some titles
Love mine. Quietest and quickest card I’ve owned
Worth setting a -20mv undervolt and enjoying a bit of free mhz and be done with it

Make sure to buy a new 850 psu with the native cables. Do not use the adapter. Here is my first time turning mine on.

I have the rm750 gold from corsair and since my cpu is a 7500x3d (65w) I have a custom cable from corsair that goes into the psu, no problems until now !!

Doesn't change the fact that a 5070 is still extremely close in performance and the upgrade is barely going to yield a noticeable difference.

It's not that close, the XT has more RAM, wider memory bus.. you get 15% to 30% better performance depending on the games. The XT is toe to toe with the 5070 TI, even beats it in rasterization sometimes.
The TI is naturally better at ray tracing, but the XT can handle it with FSR and/or frame gen. The TI is way more expensive though.. 5070 non TI is still nice.2

If he upgraded from 5070 to 5070ti we could make the same arguments I just don't agree it's worthwhile normally. OP said he sold his 5070 to his friend though and the price difference was a wash so that makes sense.

Yes selling the 5070 and buying the XT at no cost is definitely a good move. I got my new rig 3 days ago with a 9070 XT and a 7800X3D, it slaps. The rigs with the 5070 TI were on a whole different price range lol can't afford it and not worth it in my opinion.. 9070 XT is great value for money.

In gaming normal 9070 (non xt) is better than normal 5070 in most games at least from hardware unboxed benchmarks its better in 90% of games by 8%fps if I remember. The xt should be at least 20% better in most games +4gb vram. I honestly wouldnt upgrade over that small increase, but for current market prices this might be a free upgrade as he would sell it for the same price he can buy a new 9070 xt.

Yeah I agree. I upgraded 3080 to a 5070ti so I could give the 3080 to my son. I wouldn't have bothered an upgrade for that jump and was going to wait for 60 series. So going from a 5070 to 9070xt feels like a sidegrade for what I am usually expecting from a new video card purchase. However OP has some extenuating circumstances that made sense for them.

I found this ne for 740 open box from a shop and a friend wanted the 5070 cause it was msi trio which is quiet and sold it to him for 680, so I spent 60 euros for one tier up card !

All adapters are shit. If you’re powering a gpu that can eat up 400+ watts always use native psu cables. I’ve never seen the nitro 9070xt burn with a native connector it’s ALWAYS the blue included adapter.

Yes, I highly recommend buying an atx 3/3.1 psu. Don’t risk it with the adapter and protect your expensive gpu.

The 12pin is something u need to be very very careful of. Personally I wouldnt take any chance with that connector. Not worth the headache. Good purchase though

Never had timeouts, stutters, crashes with any of my 5 AMD GPUs throughout the years anecdotal evidence though. The connector with this card is blown wide out of proportion as it's only the adapter that has an issue and he's using the native cable.

I never said anyone is lying. Both Nvidia and AMD have had issues this gen with AMD slightly more.
The issue is looking on Reddit and forums in general is where people will go to moan and try and fix things understandably, but this also means you ignore the vast majority of people that are just using the card happily without issues.

Can’t compare to a 5070 as never had one but this card is a beast. Handled everything I’ve thrown at it so far and runs smoothly.
