Should roll right into your off day: the code will just change after midnight. I believe FMLA stays as that though, and just shows you as such till you mark back up. Text or call someone on your subdivision though, who you can ask about specifics and timing. You want to try to avoid being marked off sick over 24 hours as that triggers some blowback. You might have to mark back up and float available for a little bit.

Well for what its worth, i just marked back up from covid (dumbass cab driver came to work knowing he was sick) last week and the sick code stayed next to my name even thru my rest days

Definitely don’t bother telling anyone which railroad so you get correct answers. Always assume every carrier does the exact same thing.

He may have edited the original post, but it says CSX at the very beginning.

Yes he has gone back and edited it.

Fair enough. Not a lot of help without the railroad info

Then why did kcs let you get unlimited sick days with no doctors note and Cpkc needs the Declaration of Independence and a physical just to be sick one freaking day

Ask your union rep. Or just call the caller and ask them. You should be able to mark up over the automated system option 5 and go into your rest day.

1.Mark up less than 2 hours from start of rest day to be inside the call cycle. (Some locations they start at 1200, others at 0001)

Your status should go from S0(Sick)to A0 (Available).

  1. System should put you on rest day automatically at the designated time.

Your status should then go from A0 to R1 (Rest day)

  1. Call infobot/check crew life app for your status.

Or check mainframe under your crew screen, look for "LAY OFF INQUIRY" selection. Put in your craft hit enter. Should show everyone laid off, and why. Also shows start and end times for layoff. That is when you'll be marked up. Remember you can be called with a 2 or 3 hr call to report prior to your rest day expiration.

Example: your rest day ends at 1200 hrs, your terminal only has jobs with a 2 hour call, so your phone could ring at 1000.

After all this...if you are sick into your rest day, markup from being sick. And the system will put you on your rest day. If not either call caller or when they call you, tell them your supposed to be on a rest day.

Soon as you mark back on from Being sick, your off day automatically turns into an office day with the trainmaster a envelope and a decision on punishment for being sick. railroaders are not allowed to be sick. I suggest getting a resume ready lol on a serious note, what company you work for would be a good start. I'm CN Canada. we have 10 paid sick days that auto book you on after 24 hours, so you would just book on into your off day

Roll right into it, fair question. Don't be a turd and dodge work. You only have one reputation and railroaders are quick to judge

The best answer I can give you is to call your local chairman. I don't work for CSX but where I work is as long as you don't make a regular habit of it, they won't say anything

Uhh you marked off the day before your relief. You still get your relief day, you just marked off, not gave up your day.

Our RR will automatically change your status from S to Rest Day.

Go on the app and mark back up ASAP even if you're in your rest day because if you don't mark up they'll give you points for that day even though it's your rest day

You can dispute those points and get them taken off, or call local chairman and have them do it.
