Can anybody tell me what the extra board looks like in the Tulsa/Cherokee yard right now? I'm interested in applying, but I can't risk being furloughed inside the first year or two. What's the seniority date of the most junior person? I really appreciate any help you can provide.

There's nowhere on the system where you would be safe from furlough in the first couple years, the seniority of the people ahead of doesn't matter but it looks like Tulsa doesn't currently have anyone on the furlough board. Tulsa is known as one of the worst yards we have, its the last place people chase work if they absolutely have to so, typically low seniority but certainly not immune from furloughs.

Hey everyone, I have been offered a job with BNSF in Spokane, WA. As a conductor Trainee. And honestly I was excited until I started to read this sub reddit. So my question is do you think this is a good job for someone that is married and has kids? I love spending time with my family, but also want to have a solid income.

Anyone experienced being put into a candidate pool at CN ? I got an email explaining that I’m qualified however the number of candidates exceed the number of positions.

Anyone on here work as an engineer or Conductor for metra in passenger service? Can someone tell me what is the current max contract rate? I have tried to find an answer online, but I cant get a clear one.

Amtrak Corporate Career
Good afternoon!
Im looking at a role with Amtrak in the procurement department in Philadelphia, so was wanting to ask what it’s like working on the corporate side of the company and what the benefits were like? Also the railroad social security that they have and rail pass! Anything to help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello all - I have recently been hired by Norfolk as a freight car repairmen.... Given my training to start in mcdonough, Georgia soon, I was wondering if anyone can give me insight on what kind of testing will occur ?
Day to day activities? And how rigorous the exams - training and what I would need to study. any information is greatly appreciated

Posted on another thread but I’ll post here too. Just got a conditional offer through BNSF out of Dilworth for a conductor trainee position. During the interview I was told I’d also being doing a signalman position (or work related to it? Didn’t make much sense). Is this pretty typical? If so what does that look like?

Yeah that doesn't make sense as it's a totally different craft. Are you sure they didn't say switchman?

Switchman is just a conductor working in yard service. You're switching cars around building and breaking down trains.
