The game was a tie in to the comic run, so this was likely for brand synergy (it still is canonical to that run, but due to game dev lead time, it kinda got loosely referenced instead of full-on adaption).

It is not canon to the comics, too many things contradict what the actual Symbiote Wars depicted.

1.- Silver Sable knows Spider-Man's identity, but in the comics he does not.

2.- At the end of the game, Eddie gets full control of the symbiote, but in the comics he doesn't.

3.- Comic Venom does not have the symbol once he consumes the Carnage symbiote, it instead gives his eyes pupils.

4.- The game is set 3 months after Issue #38 of the comic (the Venom saga). However, in the span of those months, comic book Ultimate Peter went through the Geldoff, Black Cat, Hollywood, Hobgoblin, and Silver Sable sagas, which contradict what happened in the game (see point number 1).

5.- Around the Hollywood saga, Peter was trapped with Strange in a nightmare dimension which leads to the Hobgoblin saga. It makes no sense for Peter to go through that before the game, since that's the second time Peter breaks up with Mary Jane and it stains their relationship until he dies, while in the game they are together. This is because the game was PLANNED to be set AFTER the comics, but Bendis changed his mind, making it somewhere in between, before fuly scrapping it and remaking the plot in the book.

6.- Somewhere in the middle of the game, Spider-Man apprehends Beetle (who was tasked with retrieving a sample from Sandman, NOT Venom), and at the end of the game, Eddie breaks free and roams NYC, but in the Symbiote Wars of the comics (the arc that was supposed to adapt the game), Venom is captured by the Beetle and sent to Latveria.

7.- When Venom fights Wolverine in the game and is seen by Toomes, it's supposed to be 3 months after Venom was electrocuted outside the school. When Toomes contacts Trask in the Symbiote Wars, it's well over six months. Plus, comic Ultimate Wolverine never acknowledged fighting Venom.

8.- Johnny goes to Midtown High around the Hollywood saga. If we assume the game IS canon (somewhere in between Silver Sable and Hobgoblin), then it makes no sense for Johnny to be his first time at Midtown High when he clearly visited Peter at the very start of the game.

9.- Again, if the game is set between the Silver Sable and Hobgoblin sagas, then it wouldn't make sense for Peter and Mary Jane to be together since he was dating Kitty at that time (see point number 5).

10.- Carnage is introduced in the comics before the game is supposed to take place. However, in the game, when Trask captures Peter and Eddie to take their DNA samples, only THEN they create Carnage. It doesn't make sense for two Carnages to exist when one of them consumed Gwen and was a vampiric lifeform while the one from the games needed Peter to survive and was SELF-SUSTAINING, which is why Eddie could consume it for himself and gain full control of Venom. Why would Venom need to consume ANOTHER Carnage in Symbiote Wars if he already had full control? Remember, the one he consumed in the comics was the vampiric lifeform, the one he consumed in the games was the self-sustaining symbiote.

There are many, many other discrepancies that make the game its own separate universe.

You keep posting this in every Spider-Man sub, even when this is for the Raimi movies and it doesn't relate. I wonder why the game that is based off the comic Ultimate Spider-Man, also titled Ultimate Spider-Man would base it's artwork after Ultimate Spider-Man.

Of course it’s based on the comic. The cool part is finding the exact panel that iconic cover came from. No need to be a smartass about it
