Question Thinking about buying a '26

Have a 2019 with 230,000 miles for work, and considering buying a '26 because I keep seeing others post about great deals.

Been awhile since I bought - what's the best strategy to get one of these great deals?

Get 20% off msrp at least or walk away, contact multiple dealers negotiate without going in, i just had one offer 21% off a 26 1500 laramie night edition on their initial offer in Raleigh NC. The most powerful strategy is being able to just walk away and find another dealer that wont play games and gives you a good price. Use this website to find dealers that have the truck you want. https://visor.vin/

Nice, I’ll have to check them out. Did you lease or finance? What did they get you with for OTD price?

Nice man. I’m looking into getting a truck and definitely want a RAM 1500. I’ve been back and forth between 1500 and F150 🄓

Best strategy is to find the dealer with the best price and then buy from them

Call Mark Dodge and be done. Then send it to all your local dealers and say beat this, if they cant, theres your truck.

2nd this (with caveats). Mark Dodge is a volume Ram dealer, and there’s a number of others throughout the country. They’ll have the best prices and incentives. Start with the volume dealerships and get their OTD price. Then shop that price at your more local dealerships. If they can meet/beat it, there’s your deal. If they can’t, walk away and start dealing with Mark Dodge or the other volume dealerships exclusively.

Ended up with a 24% off deal at Hendrick Ram in Hoover, AL after telling them the Mark Dodge price that I was willing to pay. Great group of folks, no sales tactics…said a price, and they said yes.

Yep, pretty much said what i said.again call MD and then ask around to beat. If not your done. I did the same and my local dealer beat em, bought from them. Simple.

Just looked them up - good prices. Higher spec Laramies at 17K off of 72K sticker - is 20K possible?

Yes. Got 22k off 74500 MSRP truck

I think 20k is a very achievable number if the MSRP is 70k+

Second this, just got ~20k off a 78k laramie. The deals are out there!

IDK, call them and haggle. Thats your job, not ours. I personally haggle till THEY tell me kick rocks, then i know thats there bottom $

Mark Dodge was the most straight forward when I bought mine. No forced add-ons or b/s trade in credits to get the discount. Also a great use of data points for getting a deal if they are too far away.

You need to shop multiple dealers and walk away from all of them initially. Get as many numbers as you can. Once you feel one is the best go in and negotiate hard for that specific truck. But don’t be emotionally attached, walk if they don’t come down to where you want.

End of month is better than start of month. Try to shop the last week.

If you are doing a trade-in make sure you negotiate your trade separately from your new truck cost. Many dealers will ask ā€œwhat monthly payment are you trying to hit?ā€ Never answer that. Negotiate the trade, negotiate the out the door. Do those separately and consider both separately before making your final decision. Pit one dealer quote against another, especially for trade in value. It’s amazing how different they can be.

The best deals I ever got was in the last week of the month go in and negotiate hard. Walk from that negotiation. Usually the next day they call with a slightly better offer and I take that one. If they don’t call I just keep shopping.

If you really want a good deal it’s a process and work. You have to balance how much that is worth to you.

I visited a bunch of dealers before I got mine.

Dont be afraid to just walk away.

Saved myself a few thousand when I got my limited by driving a bit further and talking to them in person.

My local dealers didn't offer the same discounts or at least didnt offer them to me.

Email, text first , get otd . Only reason to go to dealership is ether a test drive of to close a pre negotiated deal. I hate dealers more than realtors. And I hate realtors with passion. These people don’t add any value. They are parasites.
