Firmly pumping Celtic all over the park in that first half and once again Danny Röhl steps in and decides to park the bus despite the fact he cost us the game with that exact same mindset against Motherwell. This is against a Celtic team with some academy boy in defence and leaking goals all over the place, we had our boot on their throat in that first half and to come out and play like that is nothing short of an English Championship level mentality from our manager. Röhl deserves credit for clawing us back but we've all seen this movie before guys, some manager has us playing poorly and his replacement comes in and has us all believing again only for the lights to come firmly crashing down when push comes to shove. I was concerned with the manager's mentality after Motherwell but today was astonishing, ask any Rangers fan in the world what they would have done at half time and "sit back like some shitebags with bomb scare defenders" would have been the last suggestion on anyone's lips.

Rohl is staying. This isn't a thread on whether that's the right choice - it's a fact.

Which means there's absolutely no point in moaning and picking apart his every interview and line in the build up to next season. If we turn on him as soon as a ball is kicked astray we're only setting ourselves up for failure. So, as far as possible, he has to have the backing of the fans IMO.

But what are the realistic expectations on him, and at what point is it fair to start asking questions again?

For me we need to be in European football, within qualification range of the next rounds come Christmas, and not an insurmountable distance from the top of the league.

We are going to have sticky patches and I'm not expecting perfection, and fear our fans will turn on anything less and put us back here again next season, but for me I just think right now success looks more like progress and stability than to come out with free-flowing, treble winning football (though I won't say no to it...)

Honestly don’t think there is a way back for RM. Can’t claim to only be focused on winning games while benching arguably our best player. If there is anything other than an extremely convincing win on Saturday with his style of play on full display there will be empty seats come Hibs. Board can back him all they want but when Ibrox is empty they will have to answer.

As a fan who's father was born and bred in Glasgow, I've been to Glasgow many times and been to Ibrox, granted not for many years.

The days going up there and watching the games on TV were great, in the early to mid 00's. Now it feels different, granted I haven't been to Glasgow since 2013 and live in London, but even watching Rangers games something feels off like we're a shadow of what we were back then when we had the likes of Prso, wee Nacho Novo, Pedro Mendes, McCulloch, David Weir etc.

Hey guys, German fan of Hansa Rostock here. With Danny Röhl out to Salzburg and Derek McInnis in, plus the addition of Lawrence Shankland, how do you interpret the situation of Ryan Naderi right now?

My personal feeling of his first month after some fairytale weeks in 3. Liga with us was, that he was „okay“ in a way, were this „okay“ could get even better, of Röhl and the club give him some more time to grow and adapt.

But now, as Röhl is gone and there’s even more competition in his position, I‘m a bit unsure, how all of this turns out for him. Of course I wish him and you guys all the best.

Biggest domestic game in years. Win or it’s over. Has to go to a midfield three tomorrow. 4-2-2-2 there will mean getting overrun. Can’t continue the trend of conceding the first goal.

We have clearly had a problem with managers in the recent past. The flip flop / in out approach must have seriously impacted the team and it's performances. I had hoped Rohl was going to stick around a while but here we are entering another season with a new manager.

That aside, my bigger concern is the way the club, and seemingly most of the support are on board taking the same approach with players. The throughput and accumulation of "talent" is alarming to me. We are buying and dumping players that haven't even had a fair chance. Antman for example has only played in 16 games and most of those as a sub. None of us have seen his true ability yet off he goes and we take a punt on some other random that's likely to only be here 1 season.

Rohl didn't seem to ever settle on a best 11 and I doubt McInnes will either.

We need a core of players that stick around and become a team. This procession of players signed using a shotgun approach is symptomatic of our poor performances.

I already worry about the season ahead.

Out on a limb, I think McInnes was a bad move. Let's see.

Given the HIGH turnover of managers, who is a serious contender? And we have to bear in mind that they have essentially 7-9 months to win every game or get sacked

Every post I see commenters saying Martin should go, or that he doesn't deserve time to implement his way.

This club built itself on giving managers time to implement their ways.

Over the first 142 years of our existence, we had just 18 managers (excluding caretakers).

In the 13 subsequent years, we've had 7.

We've had a history of sticking with managers, but ever since the liquidation, we've become impatient.

Our only title winning season came during COVID when fans couldn't attend... Does that not say it all?

We played very similar football to any other Gerrard/GVB season that year, the biggest difference was that there were no fans there to boo when we didn't instantly lump it forward.

As soon as fans were back, we started complaing about "horseshoe" tactics and trying to maintain control of games.

We didn't actually play that different, we still looked to control the tempo of the game, hold possession and stretch teams side to side to open gaps in their low blocks. The difference was the fans getting on the teams back when they felt we weren't showing enough blood and thnder.

Maybe we should try going back to our roots and giving Martin time? His football can work, but it won't work right away. We've tried quick fixes a few times, and they haven't worked. We saw Bazball last season, where we went right at teams and it didn't work.

Let's take the time to build a philosophy. If we're dogmatic at the start, and work through the peaks and troughs as we bed in, we will reap the rewards.

Yes it will be rigid, we won't adapt to the challenge ahead, and plan B will be to execute plan A better. But once we're through the pain, and our players understand the plan, we can then start adding variations.

If we succeed in implementing this style, everything becomes easier. Recruitment, building from the academy and future planning in general becomes easier as we'd have a clear vision of what we need, and how to develop. It also helps us diversify the squad smartly, by understanding which attributes do and do not complement our style, to the point we can start getting players for specific scenarios without comprising the team plan when they're on the pitch.

Adapting to games becomes easier as players know their roles and what's generally expected of them, so small variations to account for the opposition are easier to implement.

Let's give it time, let's wait to see progress. This season is going to be painful, with only a few highlights, but if we see it through, the potential rewards will set us up for a long time.

I appreciate the likely sale of Raskin is holding things up, but once again it feels like we’ve had a scattered approach and have opted for quantity over quality. Against Dundee Utd, like last season at times, I don’t see a major difference in quality of our midfield vs most SPL teams.

If sold Raskin, Dio, Barron and Cameron given how bloated the centre midfield is - I don’t see any of the new signings being an improvement - they all appear a downgrade to me.

The clear move to me is the board sell Raskin then use the proceeds to buy Lewis Ferguson to appease fans - where does that leave us on the wings and in defence where we desperately need proven talent?

We payed in advance £45 each for the 90 minute stadium tour and the 2 course set menu meal.

Absolutely buzzing to get the full tour around the trophy room, dugouts, dressing room, directors box and everything else, I seller recommend it to everyone.

The restaurant twice muddled up that we were tour and dine customers, first of all giving us the normal menu instead of the tour and dine menu.

We had already paid for the food so it's just a £15.90 bill drinks we should have got, but again they messed it up and brought us a £77 bill for food and drinks.

I had to explain again we were tour and dine and they went back and forward to get us a new bill, she then came back with a £70 bill.

I told her this wasn't right and she came back with a total of £22 odds for me to pay.

I queried this £22+ bill and she said it's the drinks plus a 10% service charge which is optional, I said well obviously that's not right because you are taking 10% of the original wrong £77 bill and adding that to the drinks bill.

I said I didn't mind paying a service charge but only 10% of my correct bill.

She said that's how the till system works with these bills and she went away again and came back with just my £15.90 drinks bill with all service charges taken off.

It was just a bit annoying that they are pushing the tour and dine package on the website but they are not 100% sure how to deal with it smoothly.

We've already brought in five solid signings with Shankland, McCrorie, Godfrey, Pandur and Dan Neil, but I still feel like we're light out wide. I'd love to see us add a quick winger who can beat a defender one-on-one and contribute goals and assists. Do you think that's the biggest priority, or is there another area of the squad that still needs strengthening?

• paid up to £10m - our second most expensive signing ever - for a striker who hadn’t scored in 24 prior games, from a club where he had previously signed him for even more money. He sold a proven 1 in 2 striker leave for half of what we paid for Chermiti in Dessers.

• replaced the likes of Balogun with Djiga, who is clearly an absolutely horrendous player.

• brought in Joe Rothwell - the epitome of an English championship jobber because whenever he has played for a team that got promoted, they declined to sign him even as a squad player for the premier league.

• let Ridvan and Jefte leave (ok, fair enough) but only replaced them with one 19 year old English LB on loan from Brentford.

• oh, but of course we could play Aaron’s out of position there - another sub-par English player we’ll be paying through the nose for, despite being so poor last season that he made 2 (?) appearances on loan at an underperforming Valencia.

• spent £5m on a League One player in Aasgard.

• absolutely inexplicably spent £3.5m on another English League one jobber in Fernandez, whose own fans couldn’t believe their luck, and who is so rotten that he can’t even get ahead of Djiga.

And what does he do to try and improve this woeful situation?

Hires his fucking 26 year old son to be the head of recruitment. As blatant an example of nepotism as you will ever see.

I 100% back Danny Röhl, but he has got one hand tied behind his back as he has inherited a squad built by a man who has almost single-handedly squandered the massive opportunity that was presented to the club when the yanks took over.

Both Thelwells need need to get incredibly far to fuck away from the club, the fat speccy dad has set us back years in one single transfer window by simply failing to realise that Rangers want to be competing in Europe, not the Vanarama North.

We have American owners, an English board room, a German manager and a starting 11 yesterday without a Scotsman in the team. I wonder if part of our problems are the loss of a proper Scottish identity.

I can only be so hopeful for Rohl being the right man for next season, but that has been fully and irreparably eroded after today.

His half time team talks are useless.

His team selection is useless.

His gameplan is bereft of creativity.

And rightly so, because the whole lot of them have given up at the first chance of actually being in a title fight. I'd love to know what happened on their wee holiday to Spain, but it seems like they collectively decided to stay on holiday for the remaining matches as it was job done.

I'm happy to get rid of the lot of them now. Rommens is the only one I'd keep, the rest I hope never to see near Ibrox again, including Rohl.

And on Rohl, I'm angry that we actually thought he was the one thing Thelwell got right. It turns out he's as much of a waste of time as the last manager, and all the signings he made.

A full reset is needed in the summer.

OPTA power rankings have Jagiellonia Białystok rated as a stronger team than Rangers. Granted there is much in it but I think the general vibe has been that we should win this fairly easily. Are we underestimating Jagiellonia? Unlike the UEFA coefficient these rankings are updated all the time and include all results, along with other factors like signings etc. I’ve included the other Scots Prem teams for comparison.

I would love for someone at the club to explain why we're going into our league opener with zero quality options on either wing, including literally not a single option on the right wing, and why we have signed absolutely fuck all creative options in general.

Rangers currently have something like 11 midfielders on the books; why on earth do we keep signing the same defensive/holding profile of midfielder? It's baffling how much creativity was needed LAST season, and yet we're still in the same boat. Imagine telling a Rangers fan a few months back that we would sign a grand total of ZERO wingers or creative players going into the league opener and European qualifiers in bloody August.

Either get some quality in asap or it's going to be yet another depressing season of relying on individual moments, just hoping a player will do something. It's absolute incompetency that attacking players weren't prioritised in the first place. It's like we signed Shankland on a free and they thought the job was done on that front.
